In Item #1 \u1f03 in the Septuagint is probably which<\/em>, while \u03bf in the parallel Greek text is the <\/em>[Addendum 2\/20\/2021: the one who<\/em><\/a>].\u00a0 In Romans 10:2 (KJV) \u03bc\u03b1\u03c1\u03c4\u03c5\u03c1\u03c9<\/a> \u03b3\u03b1\u03c1<\/a> \u03b1\u03c5\u03c4\u03bf\u03b9\u03c2<\/a> was translated For I bear them<\/em> (\u03b1\u03c5\u03c4\u03bf\u03b9\u03c2) record<\/em>.\u00a0 The word them<\/em> was left out of the NET translation (For I can testify<\/em>), though \u03b1\u03c5\u03c4\u03bf\u03b9\u03c2 appears in the parallel Greek text as it does in the Septuagint.\u00a0 The word \u03b1\u03c5\u03c4\u03b7<\/a> in Romans 10:5 was also translated them<\/em> in both the NET and KJV.\u00a0 Both \u03b1\u03c5\u03c4\u03bf\u03b9\u03c2 (Leviticus 18:5 Septuagint) and \u03b1\u03c5\u03c4\u03b7 (Romans 10:5 parallel Greek text) are forms of \u03b1\u1f50\u03c4\u03cc\u03c2<\/a>.\u00a0 Bill Braun has significantly more to say about this on his site.1<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n

Item #2 is identical (except for accent marks) and would pass without comment if not for the rest of the verse.\u00a0 It is very interesting to me that Paul also had this passage on his mind (Deuteronomy 9:4-6 NET).<\/p>\n

Do not think to yourself after the Lord your God has driven them [e.g., the people of Canaan]<\/em> out before you, \u201cBecause of my own righteousness the Lord has brought me here to possess this land.\u201d\u00a0 It is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out ahead of you [Table<\/a>]<\/em>. \u00a0It is not because of your righteousness, or even your inner uprightness, that you have come here to possess their land.\u00a0 Instead, because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord your God is driving them out ahead of you in order to confirm the promise he made on oath to your ancestors, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. \u00a0Understand, therefore, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is about to give you this good land as a possession, for you are a stubborn people!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Item #3 in the Septuagint was translated, Who will ascend into heaven for us<\/em>, in the New King James translation.\u00a0 Paul dropped the word \u1f21\u03bc\u1fd6\u03bd\u00a0(for us<\/em>).<\/p>\n

<\/a>Item #4 was translated, Who will go over the sea for us<\/em>, in the New King James translation.\u00a0 Paul changed \u03c0\u03ad\u03c1\u03b1\u03bd (other side<\/em>) to \u03b1\u03b2\u03c5\u03c3\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd (abyss<\/em>).\u00a0 Paul may have been thinking of Jesus\u2019 description of Hades.\u00a0 Abraham said to the rich man, Besides<\/em>2<\/sup><\/a> all<\/em>3<\/sup><\/a> this, a great\u00a0chasm <\/em>(\u03c7\u03ac\u03c3\u03bc\u03b1<\/a>) has been fixed\u00a0between\u00a0us, so that\u00a0those who want\u00a0to cross over<\/em> (\u03b4\u03b9\u03b1\u03b2\u1fc6\u03bd\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>, a form of \u03b4\u03b9\u03b1\u03b2\u03b1\u03af\u03bd\u03c9<\/a>) from here<\/em>4<\/sup><\/a> to\u00a0you\u00a0cannot\u00a0do so, and no\u00a0one can cross<\/em> (\u03b4\u03b9\u03b1\u03c0\u03b5\u03c1\u1ff6\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd<\/a>, a form of \u03b4\u03b9\u03b1\u03c0\u03b5\u03c1\u03ac\u03c9<\/a>) from there<\/em>5<\/sup><\/a> to\u00a0us<\/em>.6<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0For he also changed \u03b4\u03b9\u03b1\u03c0\u03b5\u03c1\u03ac\u03c3\u03b5\u03b9<\/a> (a form of \u03b4\u03b9\u03b1\u03c0\u03b5\u03c1\u03ac\u03c9, go over<\/em>) to \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b2\u03b7\u03c3\u03b5\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9<\/a> (descend<\/em>).\u00a0 The changes obviously worked better with the symmetry of his message:\u00a0 or <\/em>\u201cWho will descend into the abyss?<\/em><\/strong>\u201d (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)<\/em>.7<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n

Item #5 is essentially the same except for word order in the beginning, and Paul dropped the word \u03c3\u03c6\u03cc\u03b4\u03c1\u03b1 (very<\/em>).<\/p>\n
