God;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>I altered the order of the clauses in the Septuagint for better comparison but could have altered the Masoretic text instead.\u00a0 Where the translation from the Masoretic text reads <em>for there is none beside Thee<\/em>, the Septuagint reads <em>there is none <strong>holy <\/strong>besides thee<\/em>.\u00a0 Likewise where the Masoretic text reads <em>There is no <strong>rock <\/strong>like our God<\/em>, the Septuagint reads <em>and there is none <strong>righteous <\/strong>like our God<\/em>.\u00a0 Was <em>holy <\/em>added by the rabbis or removed by the Masoretes?\u00a0 Was <em>rock <\/em>or <em>righteous <\/em>the original word?<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_profaned\"><\/a>An article titled \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewfaq.org\/search.shtml?Keywords=salvation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Salvation from What?<\/a>\u201d on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewfaq.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Judaism 101<\/a> online reads:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Salvation from sin is unnecessary in Judaism, because Judaism does not believe that mankind is inherently evil or sinful or in need of Divine Intervention in order to escape eternal damnation.\u00a0 In fact, Judaism does not even believe in eternal damnation.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Judaism recognizes that people have sinful impulses, but Judaism also recognizes that people have an inclination to do good and to be good, and that people are able to choose whether to follow the evil inclination or the good inclination.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>It is within our ability to be righteous.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So how could Hannah pray <em>there is none <strong>holy <\/strong>besides thee <\/em>or <em>there is none <strong>righteous <\/strong>like our God<\/em>?\u00a0 Admittedly, the latter might have been equivocated as comparison, God is <em>more <\/em>righteous than any human being\u2019s \u201cability\u201d to be righteous.\u00a0 But once someone decided to alter the Scripture, it might as well be a clean sweep.\u00a0 I sincerely doubt the rabbis who translated the Septuagint made this change.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t accounted for the possibility, however, that some<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/05\/20\/hannahs-prayer-part-1\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a> attempted to write Christian doctrines back into the Old Testament scriptures.<\/p>\n<p>The translations of 1 Samuel 2:9 followed this same pattern: <em>the wicked are made speechless in the darkness, for it is not by one\u2019s own strength that one <\/em>(e.g., the <em>wicked <\/em>one) <em>prevails<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/05\/20\/hannahs-prayer-part-1\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a> in the Masoretic text, while in the Septuagint, <em>he blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength cannot man<\/em> (e.g., the <em>righteous man<\/em>) <em>prevail<\/em>.\u00a0 Again, how could Hannah pray such a thing given that \u201cIt is within our ability to be righteous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_consideration\"><\/a>It prompted me to reconsider <em>There is no one righteous, not even one<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/05\/20\/hannahs-prayer-part-1\/#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0This, according to a footnote (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Romans+3:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">14<\/a>) in the NET, was a quote from Psalm 14:1.<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/08\/25\/pauls-ot-quotes-romans-310-18\/\">Psalm<\/a>.\u00a0 The Hebrew word translated <em>good <\/em>(Tanakh) or <em>what is right<\/em> (NET) was <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/dictionaries\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_\u1e6d\u00f4b\">\u05d8\u05d5\u05d1<\/a> (<em>\u1e6d\u00f4b<\/em>).\u00a0 <em>God saw all that he had made \u2013 and it was very good<\/em> (<em>\u1e6d\u00f4b<\/em>).<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/05\/20\/hannahs-prayer-part-1\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0In the Septuagint (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/05\/20\/hannahs-prayer-part-1\/#_Table6\">Table6<\/a> below) \u05d8\u05d5\u05d1 (<em>\u1e6d\u00f4b<\/em>) was translated <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/cr.html#crhstoths\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c7\u03c1\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u1f79\u03c4\u03b7\u03c4\u03b1<\/a> (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/dictionaries\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c7\u03c1\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u03cc\u03c4\u03b7\u03c2\">\u03c7\u03c1\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u03cc\u03c4\u03b7\u03c2<\/a>).\u00a0 <em>Notice therefore the kindness<\/em> (\u03c7\u03c1\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u1f79\u03c4\u03b7\u03c4\u03b1, a form of \u03c7\u03c1\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u03cc\u03c4\u03b7\u03c2) <em>and harshness of God \u2013 href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/05\/20\/hannahs-prayer-part-1\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While I have no quarrel with Paul if he translated \u05d8\u05d5\u05d1 (<em>\u1e6d\u00f4b<\/em>) or understood \u03c7\u03c1\u03b7\u03c3\u03c4\u1f79\u03c4\u03b7\u03c4\u03b1 as <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaios\" the Septuagint would have added this to David\u2019s psalm.\u00a0 I have a clue why the Masoretes might have removed it.\u00a0 Though the Elpenor version of the Septuagint included the extended text in the English translation, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ellopos.net\/elpenor\/greek-texts\/septuagint\/chapter.asp?book=24&amp;page=13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">parallel Greek<\/a> was marked by an asterisk and removed to the bottom of the column.\u00a0 If I skip from\u2014<em>They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one<\/em>\u2014directly to\u2014<em>Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD<\/em><a the law in their own strength, by their own ability (<em>because if righteousness could come through the law, then Christ died for nothing<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/05\/20\/hannahs-prayer-part-1\/#_ftn16\"><sup>[16]<\/sup><\/a>)?\u00a0 Or are they those who call on the name of the Lord (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Romans+10:5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Romans 10:5-13<\/a>), those who are born from above (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+3:1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 3:1-7<\/a>), those who are led by the Holy Spirit (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Romans+8:1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Romans 8:1-17<\/a>)?<\/p>\n<p>Is the Bible a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/02\/19\/torture-part-4\/#_rules\">book of rules<\/a>\u201d or a story which demonstrates, among other things, how <em>God achieved<\/em> <em>what the law could not do because it was weakened through the flesh<\/em>?<a
