Prayer, Part 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Near the end of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/07\/05\/hannahs-prayer-part-3\/#_misdirection\">Part 3<\/a><\/em> I began to consider whether the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org\/masoretic-text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Masoretes<\/a> added\u2014<em>for the pillars of the earth are HaShem\u2019S, and He hath set the world upon them<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>\u2014to Hannah\u2019s prayer.\u00a0 I suggested that they made the abrupt switch from the Savior\/Judge Hannah had praised to the Creator as misdirection, so that one would not hear: <em>He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, He lifteth up the needy from the dung-hill, to make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a> leading inexorably to Jesus: <em>He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/07\/05\/hannahs-prayer-part-3\/#_ftn25\">David<\/a>.\u00a0 He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But how effective could such misdirection actually be?\u00a0 If I think of Hannah\u2019s Savior, I think of Jesus (Mathew 1:18-21 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/05\/18\/immorality\/#sdfootnote6sym\">While<\/a> his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. \u00a0Because Joseph, her husband to be, was a righteous man, and because he did not want to <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/05\/18\/immorality\/#sdfootnote7sym\">disgrace<\/a> her, he intended to divorce her privately. \u00a0When he had contemplated this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, \u201cJoseph, son of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/05\/18\/immorality\/#sdfootnote8sym\">David<\/a>, do not be afraid to take <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/05\/18\/immorality\/#sdfootnote9sym\">Mary<\/a> as your wife, because the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit <em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/05\/18\/immorality\/#_Table2\">[Table]<\/a><\/em>. \u00a0She will give birth to a son and you will name him Jesus <em>(\u1f38\u03b7\u03c3\u03bf\u1fe6\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/names\/ih.html#ihsous\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f38\u03b7\u03c3\u03bf\u1fe6\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em>, because he will save his people from their sins.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If I think of Hannah\u2019s Judge, I think of Jesus (John 5:19-23 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So Jesus answered them,<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> \u201cI tell you the solemn truth, the Son can do nothing on his own initiative, but only what he sees the Father doing. \u00a0For whatever the Father does, the Son does likewise. \u00a0For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he does, and will show him greater deeds than these, so that you will be amazed. \u00a0For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes. \u00a0Furthermore, the Father does not judge <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krinei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/dictionaries\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03bd\u03c9\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03bd\u03c9<\/a>)<\/em> anyone, but has assigned all judgment <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krisin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/dictionaries\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em> to the Son, \u00a0so that all people will honor<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> the Son just as they honor<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> the Father. \u00a0The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, given that <em>the Father<\/em>\u2026<em>has assigned all judgment to the Son<\/em>, Jesus is the One to fear (Luke 12:4, 5 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/fo.html#fobhqhte\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c6\u03bf\u03b2\u03b7\u03b8\u1fc6\u03c4\u03b5<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/dictionaries\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c6\u03bf\u03b2\u03ad\u03c9\">\u03c6\u03bf\u03b2\u03ad\u03c9<\/a>)<\/em> of those who kill<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> the body, and after that have nothing more they can do. \u00a0But I will warn you whom you should fear <em>(\u03c6\u03bf\u03b2\u03b7\u03b8\u1fc6\u03c4\u03b5)<\/em>: Fear <em>(\u03c6\u03bf\u03b2\u03ae\u03b8\u03b7\u03c4\u03b5, another form of \u03c6\u03bf\u03b2\u03ad\u03c9)<\/em> the one who, after the killing, has authority to throw you into hell.\u00a0 Yes, I tell you, fear <em>(\u03c6\u03bf\u03b2\u03ae\u03b8\u03b7\u03c4\u03b5)<\/em> him!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But given that <em>the Son can do nothing on his own initiative, but only what he sees the Father doing<\/em>, the One to fear said (Luke 12:32-34 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Do not be afraid <em>(\u03c6\u03bf\u03b2\u03bf\u1fe6, another form of \u03c6\u03bf\u03b2\u03ad\u03c9)<\/em>, little flock, for your Father is well pleased to give you the kingdom. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/07\/31\/a-door-of-hope-part-1\/#_sell\">Sell<\/a> your possessions and give to the poor.\u00a0 Provide yourselves purses<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn8\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> that do not wear out \u2013 a treasure in heaven that never decreases, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. \u00a0For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>For this is the way God loved the world: He gave <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/07\/31\/a-door-of-hope-part-1\/#_ftn11\">his<\/a> one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn9\"><sup>[9]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 And it doesn\u2019t really matter if Hannah or the Masoretes made the abrupt switch to the Creator: I still think of Jesus (John 1:1-18 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. \u00a0The Word was with God in the beginning. \u00a0All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. \u00a0In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. \u00a0And the light shines on in the darkness, but the darkness has not mastered it.<\/p>\n<p>A man came, sent from God, whose name was John. \u00a0He came as a witness to testify about the light, so that everyone might believe through him. \u00a0He himself was not the light, but he came to testify about the light. \u00a0The true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. \u00a0He was in the world, and the world was created by him, but the world did not recognize him. \u00a0He came to what was his own, but his own people did not receive him. \u00a0But to all who have received him \u2013 those who believe in his name \u2013 he has given the right to become God\u2019s children \u2013 children not born by human parents or by human desire or a husband\u2019s decision, but by God.<\/p>\n<p>Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. \u00a0We saw his glory \u2013 the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father. \u00a0John testified about him and shouted out, \u201cThis one was the one about whom I said, \u2018He who comes after me is greater than I am, because he existed before me.\u2019\u201d \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/11\/12\/atonement-part-11\/#_ftn14\">For<\/a> we have all received from his fullness one gracious gift after another. \u00a0For the law was given through <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/11\/12\/atonement-part-11\/#_ftn15\">Moses<\/a>, but grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/11\/12\/atonement-part-11\/#_Table3\">Table<\/a>)<\/em>. \u00a0No one has ever seen God. \u00a0The only <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/13\/atonement-part-6\/#_ftn15\">one<\/a>, himself <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/13\/atonement-part-6\/#_ftn16\">God<\/a>, who is in closest fellowship with the Father, has made God known <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/13\/atonement-part-6\/#_Table2\">Table<\/a>)<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If<em> inherit the throne of glory<\/em> upset the Masoretes as I\u2019ve suggested, why add <em>for the pillars of the earth are HaShem\u2019S, and He hath set the world upon them <\/em>for misdirection?\u00a0 Why not simply remove <em>inherit the throne of glory<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>I suspect that <em>the throne of glory <\/em>was still important to the Masoretes, its geographical location, if not the One who will sit upon it: <em>At that time<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Jeremiah+3:16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">when<\/a> <em>they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more<\/em>), Jeremiah prophesied, <em>they shall call Jerusalem the throne<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/dictionaries\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_kiss\u00ea\u02bc\">\u05db\u05b4\u05bc\u05e1\u05b5\u05bc\u05a3\u05d0<\/a>) <em>of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn10\"><sup>[10]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jeremiah was sent to the people of the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/06\/01\/aultery-in-the-prophets-part-2\/#_southern\">southern kingdom<\/a> of Judah with a warning of coming devastation at the hands of the Babylonians (Jeremiah 14:17, 18 Tanakh):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.\u00a0 If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yea, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I admit to being confused (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_Table7\">Table7<\/a> below) whether Jeremiah continued with the words he was given or began, <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Jeremiah+14:11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">disobediently<\/a>, to intercede for the people despite his best intentions (Jeremiah 14:19, 20 Tanakh):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul lothed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!\u00a0 We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a id=\"_beyond\"><\/a>How Judah sinned (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/dictionaries\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_ch\u00e2\u1e6d\u00e2\u02bc\">\u05d7\u05b8\u05d8\u05b8\u0596\u05d0\u05e0\u05d5\u05bc<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/05\/16\/a-monotonous-cycle-part-4\/\">northern kingdom<\/a> of Israel had done before them.\u00a0 <em>Do not abhor us, for thy name&#8217;s sake<\/em>, Jeremiah continued, <em>do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.\u00a0 Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Though a time will come when Jerusalem will be called <em>the throne<\/em> (\u05db\u05b4\u05bc\u05e1\u05b5\u05bc\u05a3\u05d0) <em>of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, <\/em>it was not to be at this this time, though Jeremiah prayed href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/27\/atonement-part-8\/#_Table8\">Table<\/a>)<\/em>. \u00a0It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As I recall my own life, knowing that God\u2019s patience with sinners is finite, I wonder: How is it that I have not exhausted his patience?<\/p>\n<p>The only answer that makes any sense to me is that I have Jesus, <em>a merciful and faithful <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Hebrews+2:17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">high priest<\/a><\/em>, <em>who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the sanctuary and the true tabernacle that the Lord, not<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a><em> man, set up<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn14\"><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/a> (Hebrews 7:24-28 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>[H]<\/em>e holds his priesthood permanently since he lives forever. \u00a0So he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. \u00a0For it is indeed <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/27\/atonement-part-8\/#_ftn14\">fitting<\/a> for us to have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from
