href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I thought about skipping this exchange.\u00a0 I\u2019ve covered it elsewhere.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 My point in revisiting these monotonous cycles, however, is to see them through Jesus\u2019 eyes: <em>Do not be amazed that I said to you, \u2018You must all be born <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/05\/14\/a-monotonous-cycle-part-2\/\">from above<\/a>.\u2019<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The most natural way to view the Bible, I suppose, is as an evolving human attempt to describe an <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Antichrist_(book)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">imagined god<\/a>.\u00a0 There is a theory of Bible interpretation that one should imagine the time a book was written and try to understand the text as someone of that time would have understood it.\u00a0 I think the NET translation of the Masoretic text may owe a lot to that theory.\u00a0 I want to take all the knowledge of God I possess at this moment to know the One who asked Cain, <em>Where is Abel thy brother?<\/em>\u00a0 That\u2019s fairly ambitious for an essay.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know how this is going to go.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll turn here to Jesus for some divine revelation about what is natural to human beings, even <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_religious\">religious<\/a> human beings who have begun to believe Him<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a> (John 8:44, 45 NET <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_Table21\">Table<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>You people are from your <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_ftn9\">father<\/a> the devil, and you want to do what your father desires. \u00a0He was a murderer from the beginning, and does <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_ftn10\">not<\/a> uphold the truth <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/dictionaries\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1\">\u1f00\u03bb\u03b7\u03b8\u03b5\u03af\u1fb3<\/a>)<\/em>, because there is no truth <em>(\u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1)<\/em> in him. \u00a0Whenever he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies. \u00a0But because I am telling you the truth <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/alh.html#alhqeian\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1\u03bd<\/a>, a form of \u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1)<\/em>, you do not believe me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What Jesus meant by \u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1\u03bd, \u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1 and \u1f00\u03bb\u03b7\u03b8\u03b5\u03af\u1fb3 was, <em>your word is truth <\/em>(\u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1),<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a> as He prayed to our Father in heaven.\u00a0 The devil isn\u2019t ignorant of God\u2019s word preserved in the Bible (Matthew 4:5-7 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Then the devil took <em>[Jesus]<\/em> to the holy city, had him stand<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> on the highest point of the temple, and said to him, \u201cIf you are the Son of God, throw yourself down.\u00a0 For it is written, \u2018He will command his angels concerning you\u2019 and \u2018with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.\u2019\u201d \u00a0Jesus said to him, \u201cOnce again it is written: \u2018You are not to put the Lord your God to the Jesus not only proved the psalm (\u201cit is he who will rescue me from a trap of hunters and from a troublesome word\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn8\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a>) but gave a clear demonstration of the difference between trusting God for his provision or testing Him in unbelief to prove it.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus continued addressing religious people who had begun to believe Him, yet rejected his revelation that they <em>are from<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ek.html#ek\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f10\u03ba<\/a>) [their] <em>father the devil<\/em> (John 8:46b, 47 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If I am telling you the truth <em>(\u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1\u03bd, a form of \u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1)<\/em>, why don\u2019t you believe me? \u00a0The one who belongs to God listens and responds to God\u2019s words. \u00a0You don\u2019t listen and respond, because you don\u2019t belong to God.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The KJV reads: <em>He that is of <\/em>[\u1f10\u03ba] <em>God heareth God\u2019s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of <\/em>[\u1f10\u03ba] <em>God<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn9\"><sup>[9]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0I quote it not so much to correct the NET as to clarify my own thinking.\u00a0 Translating \u1f10\u03ba <em>belongs to<\/em> and <em>belong to <\/em>sent my thoughts back to Jesus\u2019 prayer (John 17:6 NET <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/02\/20\/to-make-holy-part-6\/#_Table12\">Table<\/a>).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I have revealed your name to the men you <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/04\/to-make-holy-part-7\/#_ftn23\">gave<\/a> me out of the world.\u00a0 They belonged <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn11\"><sup>[11]<\/sup><\/a>).\u00a0 But He would have stopped short of affirming\u2014<em>and they have obeyed<\/em> (<em>kept<\/em>) <em>your word<\/em>\u2013because they would not believe that they were <em>from <\/em>(\u1f10\u03ba) their <em>father the devil not of <\/em>[\u1f10\u03ba] <em>God<\/em>.\u00a0 Why this distinction between those who believed and stayed near to Jesus and those who were farther off?<\/p>\n<p>I turn again to Jesus\u2019 prayer (John 17:11b, 12a NET <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/04\/to-make-holy-part-7\/#_Table13\">Table<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Holy Father, keep them safe <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/th.html#thrhson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b7\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>)<\/em> in your name <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/04\/to-make-holy-part-7\/#_ftn36\">that<\/a> you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are one.\u00a0 When I was the keep-them-safe function that He prayed would be turned over to the Holy Spirit ultimately.\u00a0 Apparently there was a proximity effect.\u00a0 <em>Follow me<\/em>, was not a metaphor when Jesus was the only person on the planet <em><a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Romans+8:14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">led<\/a> <\/em>by the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 <em>I tell you the truth<\/em>, Jesus told his disciples before He prayed, <em>it is to your advantage that I am going away.\u00a0 For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 In fact, Jesus had told them quite a lot about this <em>Advocate <\/em>before He prayed (John 14:15-17, 21 NET)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><a id=\"_promises\"><\/a>\u201cIf you love me, you will obey <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/th.html#thrhsete\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u03b7\u03c1\u03ae\u03c3\u03b5\u03c4\u03b5<\/a>)<\/em> my commandments. \u00a0Then I<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn14\"><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/a> <\/em>with you forever\u2014the Spirit of truth <em>(\u1f00\u03bb\u03b7\u03b8\u03b5\u03af\u03b1\u03c2, another form of \u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1)<\/em>, whom the world cannot accept, because it does not see him or know him.<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn15\"><sup>[15]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> \u00a0But<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn16\"><sup>[16]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> you know him, because he resides with you and will be in you.<\/p>\n<p>The person who has my commandments and obeys <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/th.html#thrwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u03b7\u03c1\u1ff6\u03bd<\/a>)<\/em> them is the one who loves me. \u00a0The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn17\"><sup>[17]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> will love him and will reveal myself to him.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the NET <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kag.html#kagw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03b3\u1f7c<\/a> was translated <em>Then I<\/em>.\u00a0 Note <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+14:16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">36<\/a> explained: \u201cHere \u03ba\u03b1\u03af (kai) has been translated as \u2018Then\u2019 to reflect the implied sequence in the discourse.\u201d\u00a0 The word <em>then <\/em>plays havoc with the philosophical bent of my mind, so I feel obliged to emphasize that there is no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/quid%20pro%20quo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">quid pro quo<\/a> here: Jesus did not say, Obey (keep) my commandments to prove that you love Me, <em>then I<\/em> will ask the Father\u2026 \u00a0These are two related promises.<\/p>\n<p>In the KJV <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/th.html#thrhsete\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u03b7\u03c1\u03ae\u03c3\u03b5\u03c4\u03b5<\/a> was translated as an imperative: <em>keep my commandments<\/em>.\u00a0 I think the NET translators did a much better job understanding the future tense, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntgreek.org\/learn_nt_greek\/verbs1.htm#VOICE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">active voice<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntgreek.org\/learn_nt_greek\/verbs1.htm#MOOD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">indicative mood<\/a> \u03c4\u03b7\u03c1\u03ae\u03c3\u03b5\u03c4\u03b5 as <em>you will obey<\/em>.\u00a0 (I won\u2019t even quibble <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/01\/27\/fear-deuteronomy-part-3\/\">this time<\/a> about translating it <em>obey<\/em>.)<\/p>\n<p>In other words, if you are patient with Jesus, kind to Him, not envious, not bragging to Him, not puffed up, not rude, not self-serving, not easily angered by Him or resentful toward Him, not glad about injustice, but rejoicing in his truth, you will obey (keep) his commandments.\u00a0 And also He <em>will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever<\/em>.\u00a0 The only \u201cimplied sequence\u201d in Jesus\u2019 discourse was that his immediate hearers would need to <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Matthew+18:20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">encourage one another<\/a> with these words for the few days between Jesus\u2019 ascension and <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Acts+2:1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pentecost<\/a>.\u00a0 Since the Holy Spirit was given this <em>love <\/em>for Jesus (and for others) is continuously provided, an aspect of the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Galatians+5:22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fruit of the Spirit<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>A question was posed to Jesus (John 14:22-26 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cLord,\u201d Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, \u201cwhat<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn18\"><sup>[18]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> has happened that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?\u201d \u00a0Jesus<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn19\"><sup>[19]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> replied, \u201cIf anyone loves me, he will obey <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/th.html#thrhsei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u03b7\u03c1\u03ae\u03c3\u03b5\u03b9<\/a>)<\/em> my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and take up<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn20\"><sup>[20]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> residence with him. \u00a0The person who does not love me does not obey <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/th.html#threi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u03b7\u03c1\u03b5\u1fd6<\/a>)<\/em> my words. \u00a0And the word you hear is not mine, but the Father\u2019s who sent me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have spoken these things while staying with you. \u00a0But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and will cause you to remember everything I<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn21\"><sup>[21]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> said to you.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>None of this is to say that believers who were distant from Jesus rejected his revelation that they were <em>from <\/em>(\u1f10\u03ba) their <em>father the devil not of <\/em>[\u1f10\u03ba] <em>God<\/em>, while those who were closer to Him had completely accepted this fact. Peter\u2019s struggle with this is the most obvious example (Matthew 16:15-17, 21-23 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>[Jesus]<\/em> said to <em>[his disciples]<\/em>, \u201cBut who do you say that I am?\u201d \u00a0Simon Peter answered, \u201cYou are the Christ, the Son of the living God.\u201d \u00a0And<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn22\"><sup>[22]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> Jesus answered him, \u201cYou are blessed, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. \u00a0So Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him: \u201cGod forbid, Lord! \u00a0This must not happen to you!\u201d \u00a0But he turned and said to Peter, \u201cGet behind me, Satan! \u00a0You are a stumbling block to <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/01\/13\/romans-part-91\/#_ftn56\">me<\/a>, because you are not setting your mind on God\u2019s interests, but on man\u2019s <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/01\/13\/romans-part-91\/#_Table17\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One might expect that Peter would have heard Jesus\u2019 words\u2014<em>You people are from your father the devil, and you want to do what your father desires<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn23\"><sup>[23]<\/sup><\/a>\u2014with very different ears. \u00a0But even after everything else Jesus said, Peter intended to fight to the death to prove Jesus wrong (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Matthew+26:33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew 26:33-35<\/a>), and to prove his own religious theory (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.simpletoremember.com\/articles\/a\/jewsandjesus\/#1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not exclusively his own<\/a>), who the Messiah is and what he should do, correct.\u00a0 The Peter of Acts 2 and beyond only comes into existence after he is indwelt by the Holy Spirit: <em>we <\/em>(Jesus and the Father) <em>will come to him and take up residence with him<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn24\"><sup>[24]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>I tell you the truth <\/em>(\u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1\u03bd, form of \u1f00\u03bb\u03ae\u03b8\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1), Jesus said, <em>it is to your advantage that I am going away.<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn25\"><sup>[25]<\/sup><\/a><em>\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p>After denying that he even knew Jesus three times, <em>Peter remembered what Jesus had said:<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn26\"><sup>[26]<\/sup><\/a><em> \u201cBefore the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.\u201d\u00a0 And he went outside and wept bitterly.<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn27\"><sup>[27]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0He was brought face to face, as it were, with the truth: <em>You people are from your father the devil, and you want to do what your father desires<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn28\"><sup>[28]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 And he was brought to this realization, against his own will, by the inexorable will of God through his authoritative word: <em>Jesus said to him, \u201cI tell you the truth <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/amh.html#amhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f00\u03bc\u1f74\u03bd<\/a>)<em>, on this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn29\"><sup>[29]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I haven\u2019t exhausted my limited knowledge of God but I am nearing the end of this essay.\u00a0 I suppose I can say at this point it was, at a minimum, this Will and this Word who asked Cain, <em>Where is Abel thy brother?\u00a0 <\/em>I want to mention one significant difference between Cain\u2019s world and ours.<\/p>\n<p>The same One who said, <em>No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn30\"><sup>[30]<\/sup><\/a> also said, <em>And I, when I am <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+12:32\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lifted up<\/a> from the earth, will <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/07\/25\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-8\/#_draws\">draw<\/a> all people <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pan.html#pantas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c0\u03ac\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2<\/a>) <em>to myself<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn31\"><sup>[31]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Jesus was crucified and buried.\u00a0 God raised Him from the dead.\u00a0 He ascended into heaven.\u00a0 At a minimum all people <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Luke+20:38\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">alive<\/a> are drawn to Him by the inexorable will of God.\u00a0 Paul wrote (Ephesians 1:7-12 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our offenses, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/06\/27\/is-sin-less-than-sin-part-3\/#sdfootnote3sym\">riches<\/a> of his grace <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/06\/27\/is-sin-less-than-sin-part-3\/#_Table3\">Table<\/a>]<\/em> that he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight. \u00a0He did this when he revealed to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, toward the administration of the fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ\u2014the things <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_ftn4\">in<\/a> heaven and the things on <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_ftn5\">earth<\/a>. \u00a0In Christ we too have been claimed as God\u2019s own possession, since we were predestined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, would be to the praise of his <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_ftn6\">glory<\/a> <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_Table17\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Each of us who resists God\u2019s will, to whatever degree each resists Him, is like Saul on the road to Damascus, hurting himself <em><a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Acts+26:14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">by kicking against the goads<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 These goads drive each of us to the realization that apart from God\u2019s indwelling Holy Spirit each is <em>from <\/em>(\u1f10\u03ba) his <em>father the devil not of <\/em>[\u1f10\u03ba] <em>God<\/em>. \u00a0<em>He that is of <\/em>[\u1f10\u03ba] <em>God heareth God\u2019s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of <\/em>[\u1f10\u03ba] <em>God<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/30\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-3\/#_ftn32\"><sup>[32]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Each of us has suffered or suffers still from this innate inbred resistance to God\u2019s will.\u00a0 A bit of patience with, and kindness toward, one another is in order, that we may all recognize: apart from the indwelling Holy Spirit, Jesus and his Father taking up residence within each of us\u2014supplying us continuously with his love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control\u2014eternity is just a long miserable time.\u00a0 <em>Do not be amazed that I said to you, <\/em>Jesus said to <em>a Pharisee named Nicodemus<\/em>, <em>a member of the
