to seat him with the princes of the people, and causing them to inherit the throne of glory <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/07\/05\/hannahs-prayer-part-3\/#_Table24\">Table<\/a>)<em>: granting his petition to him that prays; and he blesses the years of the righteous, for by strength cannot man prevail <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/05\/12\/who-am-i-part-9\/#_Table11\">Table<\/a>).<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/12\/15\/hannahs-prayer-part-5\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 This certainly directs my thoughts to Jesus, specifically his <em>petition<\/em>: <em>Father, forgive them, for they don\u2019t know what they are doing<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/12\/15\/hannahs-prayer-part-5\/#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The same verses from the Masoretic text, not so much: <em>He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, He lifteth up the needy from the dung-hill, to make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory; for the pillars of the earth are HaShem&#8217;S, and He hath set the world upon them <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/07\/05\/hannahs-prayer-part-3\/#_Table23\">Table<\/a>)<em>. He will keep the feet of His holy ones, but the wicked shall be put to silence in darkness; for not by strength shall man prevail <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/05\/12\/who-am-i-part-9\/#_Table10\">Table<\/a>).<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/12\/15\/hannahs-prayer-part-5\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When I consider that the Masoretes\u2019 attempt \u201cto decipher the authentic word of God and eliminate the dissimilarities\u201d of the \u201cmany disparities of the Torah [that] emerged as countless scribes wrote numerous scrolls\u201d was guided by \u201ctheir ultimate goal\u2026to uphold the traditions of the Jewish people,\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/12\/15\/hannahs-prayer-part-5\/#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a> I think the Septuagint may be more original here.\u00a0 The translation\u2014<em>but the wicked shall be put to silence in darkness<\/em>\u2014is somewhat clever.\u00a0 But it scarcely hides the Masoretes\u2019 profound wish that <em>the wicked shall be cut off in darkness<\/em>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/12\/15\/hannahs-prayer-part-5\/#_ftn7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a> if <em>the wicked <\/em>are understood as those pesky believers who kept finding Jesus in the Hebrew Scriptures.\u00a0 As such, it provides a tacit acknowledgement that <em>petition <\/em>was original here, a petition that was not being rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sons<\/a>.\u00a0 Again, Paul wrote to believers in Corinth (2 Corinthians 12:9, 10 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But <em>[the Lord]<\/em> said to me, \u201cMy grace is enough pleasure, saith the Lord<\/em>.\u00a0 So if deleting one or the other was the order of the day, why not delete the instance in Jeremiah?<\/p>\n<p>Jeremiah\u2019s prophecy has come to pass.\u00a0 It is an indelible part of Israel\u2019s history.\u00a0 Hannah\u2019s prayer is not yet fulfilled, and won\u2019t be until descendants of Israel in Jerusalem say, <em>Blessed is the one who comes in the The NET parallel Greek text of the New Testament was apparently translated from NA<sup>27<\/sup>.\u00a0 Scholarly opinion in NA<sup>28<\/sup> has either returned, or caught up, to the Stephanus Textus Receptus and Byzantine Majority Text.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll offer one more insight from doing the study for this essay: The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hexapla\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hexapla<\/a> with six versions side by side doesn\u2019t seem to me like the most opportune moment to introduce a \u201cforged\u201d version of Hannah\u2019s prayer by manipulating two well known verses from Jeremiah (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/1+Corinthians+1:18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 Corinthians 1:18-31<\/a>) and inserting them into the text of the Septuagint.\u00a0 I would assume then that this portion of Hannah\u2019s prayer predates <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Origen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Origen\u2019s<\/a> Hexapla.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_ftn20\"><\/a><sup>[20]<\/sup> The <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Acts+1:10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NET parallel Greek<\/a> text had the plural <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/es.html#esqhsis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f10\u03c3\u03b8\u03ae\u03c3\u03b5\u03c3\u03b9<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/le.html#leukais\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bb\u03b5\u03c5\u03ba\u03b1\u1fd6\u03c2<\/a> here, where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nestle-aland.com\/en\/read-na28-online\/text\/bibeltext\/lesen\/stelle\/54\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NA<sup>28<\/sup><\/a> had the plural <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/es.html#esqhsis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f10\u03c3\u03b8\u03ae\u03c3\u03b5\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd<\/a> \u03bb\u03b5\u03c5\u03ba\u03b1\u1fd6\u03c2 and the <a href=\"http:\/\/textusreceptusbibles.com\/Stephanus\/44\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephanus Textus Receptus<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/textusreceptusbibles.com\/GBMT\/44\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Byzantine Majority Text<\/a> had the singular <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/es.html#esqhs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b5\u03c3\u03b8\u03b7\u03c4\u03b9<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/le.html#leukh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bb\u03b5\u03c5\u03ba\u03b7<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_ftn21\"><\/a><sup>[21]<\/sup> The <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Acts+1:11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NET parallel Greek<\/a> text and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nestle-aland.com\/en\/read-na28-online\/text\/bibeltext\/lesen\/stelle\/54\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NA<sup>28<\/sup><\/a> had <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/eip.html#eipan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b5\u1f36\u03c0\u03b1\u03bd<\/a> here, where the <a href=\"http:\/\/textusreceptusbibles.com\/Stephanus\/44\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephanus Textus Receptus<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/textusreceptusbibles.com\/GBMT\/44\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Byzantine Majority Text<\/a> had <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/eip.html#eipon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b5\u03b9\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He will keep the feet of His holy ones, Hannah\u2019s prayer continued, but the wicked shall be put to silence in darkness;
