Make Holy, Part 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The next form of \u1f01\u03b3\u03b9\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9 I want to consider is found in Jesus\u2019 prayer to his Father: <em>Set them apart<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agi.html#agiason\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f01\u03b3\u1f77\u03b1\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agi.html#agiazw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f01\u03b3\u03b9\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9<\/a>) <em>in the truth; your word is truth<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 But I\u2019m making a slow pilgrimage through his prayer because I believe I can <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/John+17:3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">know<\/a> his <em>holiness <\/em>here.\u00a0 Jesus prayer continued (John 17:14, 15 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I have given them your word, and the world has hated them, because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. \u00a0I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but that you keep them safe from the evil one.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Greek words translated <em>your word<\/em> were <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/to.html#ton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u1f78\u03bd<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/lo.html#logon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bb\u1f79\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/so.html#sou2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c3\u03bf\u03c5<\/a>.\u00a0 Jesus had spoken to a Samaritan woman (John 4:39-42 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Now many Samaritans<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> from that town believed in him because of the report of the woman who testified, \u201cHe told me everything I ever<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> did.\u201d \u00a0So when the Samaritans<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a> <\/em>came to him, they began asking him to stay with them. \u00a0He stayed there two days, and because of his word many more believed. \u00a0They said to the woman, \u201cNo longer do we believe because of your words, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this one really is the Savior of the world.\u201d<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Greek words translated <em>the report of the woman<\/em> were \u03c4\u1f78\u03bd \u03bb\u1f79\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/th.html#ths\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u1fc6\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/gu.html#gunaikos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b3\u03c5\u03bd\u03b1\u03b9\u03ba\u1f78\u03c2<\/a>.\u00a0 So I have the <em>word <\/em>of the woman to contrast with the <em>word <\/em>of Jesus\u2019 father: <em>Come, see a man who told me <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/12\/22\/my-reasons-and-my-reason-part-6\/#_husband\">everything<\/a> I ever did<\/em>, the woman told her friends. \u00a0<em>Surely he can\u2019t be the Messiah <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/o.html#o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f41<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/cr.html#cristos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c7\u03c1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u1f79\u03c2<\/a>)<em>, can he?<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0Her friends believed her enough to obey her: <em>So<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a><em> they left the town and began coming to him<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn8\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0I should back up to point out that the woman\u2019s word which her friends obeyed was a relatively tentative presentation of Jesus\u2019 word (John 4:25, 26 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The woman said to <em>[Jesus]<\/em>, \u201cI know that Messiah<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn9\"><sup>[9]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> is coming\u201d (the one called Christ); \u201cwhenever he comes, he will tell us everything.\u201d<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn10\"><sup>[10]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> \u00a0Jesus said to her, \u201cI, the one speaking to you, am he.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The woman\u2019s friends also demonstrated their faith in her word, a relatively tentative presentation of Jesus\u2019 word, by asking Jesus <em>to stay<\/em> with them.\u00a0 The Greek word translated <em>to stay<\/em> was <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mei.html#meinai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bc\u03b5\u1fd6\u03bd\u03b1\u03b9<\/a> (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/men.html#menw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03c9<\/a>). \u00a0Other forms of \u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03c9 occur in Jesus\u2019 teaching to his disciples (John 15:4 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Remain <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mei.html#meinate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bc\u03b5\u1f77\u03bd\u03b1\u03c4\u03b5<\/a>, another form of \u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03c9)<\/em> in me, and I will remain in you. \u00a0Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it remains<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn11\"><sup>[11]<\/sup><\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/men.html#menh6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bc\u1f73\u03bd\u1fc3<\/a>, another form of \u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03c9)<\/em> in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/men.html#menhte\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bc\u1f73\u03bd\u03b7\u03c4\u03b5<\/a>, another form of \u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03c9)<\/em> in me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jesus <em>stayed <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/eme.html#emeine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f14\u03bc\u03b5\u03b9\u03bd\u03b5\u03bd<\/a>, another form of \u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03c9) <em>there two days, and because of his word<\/em> (\u03c4\u1f78\u03bd \u03bb\u1f79\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/aut.html#autou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b1\u1f50\u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6<\/a>) <em>many more believed<\/em>.\u00a0 After two days these Samaritans had acquired two important concepts: 1) They had learned to value Jesus\u2019 word above that of the woman.\u00a0 This is my daily prayer: \u201cPlease let any who read these essays hear your voice instead of mine.\u201d\u00a0 And, 2) they knew Jesus as <em>the Savior of the world<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/o.html#o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bf<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sw.html#swthr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c3\u03c9\u03c4\u03b7\u03c1<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/to.html#tou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u03bf\u03c5<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kos.html#kosmou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03bf\u03c3\u03bc\u03bf\u03c5<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>These Samaritans didn\u2019t know Jesus as a conqueror who would overthrow the Romans and bring the whole world into submission to the descendants of Israel.\u00a0 They knew Him as <em>the Savior of the world <\/em>at a time when his own hand-picked disciples were chomping at the bit for Him to get down to the serious messianic business of overthrowing the Romans and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Acts+1:6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">restoring the kingdom to Israel<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 And lest I suppose that these were just ignorant <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Samaritans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Samaritans<\/a>, their knowledge agreed with the the word of God through Jesus and a much more spiritually mature John, one of the original twelve disciples: <em>For God did not send <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/07\/31\/a-door-of-hope-part-1\/#_ftn12\">his<\/a> Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sw.html#swqh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c3\u03c9\u03b8\u1fc7<\/a> \u1f41 <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kos.html#kosmos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u1f79\u03c3\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/di.html#di\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b4\u03b9\u1fbf<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/aut.html#autou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b1\u1f50\u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6<\/a>).<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here is the next occurrence of \u03bb\u1f79\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd in John\u2019s Gospel narrative (John 5:24-30 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI tell you the solemn truth, the one who hears my message and believes the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krisin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em>, but has crossed over from death to life. \u00a0I tell you the solemn truth, a time is coming\u2014and is now here\u2014when the dead will hear<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn14\"><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. \u00a0For just as the Father has life in himself, thus he has granted the Son to have life in himself, and he has granted the Son authority to execute judgment <em>(\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd, a form of \u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2)<\/em>, because he is the Son of Man.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo not be amazed at this, because a time is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn15\"><sup>[15]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> his voice and will come out\u2014the ones who have done what is good <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agaq.html#agaqa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f00\u03b3\u03b1\u03b8\u1f70<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agaq.html#agaqos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f00\u03b3\u03b1\u03b8\u03cc\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em> to the resurrection resulting in life, and the ones who have done what is evil <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/fa.html#faula\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c6\u03b1\u1fe6\u03bb\u03b1<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/fa.html#faulos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c6\u03b1\u1fe6\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em> to the resurrection resulting in condemnation <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krisews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03c3\u03b5\u03c9\u03c2<\/a>, another form of \u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2)<\/em>. \u00a0I can do nothing on my own initiative. \u00a0Just as I hear, I judge <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krinw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03bd\u03c9<\/a>)<\/em>, and my judgment <em>(\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2)<\/em> is just, because I do not seek my own will, but the will of the one<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn16\"><sup>[16]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> who sent me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Greek words translated <em>my message<\/em> were \u03c4\u1f78\u03bd \u03bb\u1f79\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mo.html#mou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bc\u03bf\u03c5<\/a>.\u00a0 I assume that <em>the dead<\/em>, in <em>the dead<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ne.html#nekroi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bd\u03b5\u03ba\u03c1\u03bf\u1f76<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ne.html#nekros\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bd\u03b5\u03ba\u03c1\u03cc\u03c2<\/a>) <em>will hear the voice of the Son of God<\/em>, referred to something more like what Paul meant when he wrote to believers in Ephesus: <em>you were dead<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ne.html#nekrous\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bd\u03b5\u03ba\u03c1\u03bf\u1f7a\u03c2<\/a>, another form of \u03bd\u03b5\u03ba\u03c1\u03cc\u03c2) <em>in <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/06\/27\/is-sin-less-than-sin-part-3\/#sdfootnote2sym\">your<\/a> offenses and sins<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn17\"><sup>[17]<\/sup><\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Ephesians+2:1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ephesians 2:1-10<\/a>). \u00a0And <em>all who are in the tombs will hear his voice<\/em> seems fairly obvious in its reference to something more like Matthew\u2019s Gospel account (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Matthew+27:50\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew 27:50-53<\/a>). \u00a0The implication is consistent that to hear Jesus\u2019 word is a divinely facilitated activity: <em>So then faith comes by hearing<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ako.html#akohs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f00\u03ba\u03bf\u1fc6\u03c2<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ako.html#akoh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f00\u03ba\u03bf\u03ae<\/a>), <em>and hearing<\/em> (\u1f00\u03ba\u03bf\u1f74) <em>by the word<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/rh.html#rhmatos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c1\u1f75\u03bc\u03b1\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/rh.html#rhma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1fe5\u1fc6\u03bc\u03b1<\/a>) <em>of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/10\/14\/atonement-part-9\/#_ftn21\">God<\/a><\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn18\"><sup>[18]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The human part in hearing is to sit and listen, or read and study as the case may be, rather than to hold one\u2019s ears and flee in terror.\u00a0 And if one is as slow and stupid as I have been, hearing may take longer relative to another less prone to argument.\u00a0 One of my best teachers in college had been a mediocre student.\u00a0 It made him very aware as a teacher of the information that had confused him as a student.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>dead will hear the voice of the Son of God<\/em> who has been granted <em>authority to execute judgment<\/em>, <em>because he is the Son of Man<\/em>.\u00a0 <em>I can do nothing on my own initiative<\/em>, the Judge proclaimed.\u00a0 <em>Just as I hear<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ako.html#akouw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f00\u03ba\u03bf\u1f7b\u03c9<\/a>), <em>I judge<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krinw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03bd\u03c9<\/a>), <em>and my judgment<\/em> (\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2) <em>is just, because I do not seek my own will, but the will of the one who sent me<\/em>\u2026<em>not<\/em>\u2026<em>to condemn <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krinh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03bd\u1fc3<\/a>, a form of \u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03bd\u03c9) <em>the world, but that the world should be saved through <\/em>[me].\u00a0 The words are important.<\/p>\n<p>The Judge whom God sent <em>that the world should be saved through him<\/em> continued (John 5:36-40 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I have a testimony greater than that from John <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+5:33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 5:33-35<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+1:6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1:6-8<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+1:19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1:19-37<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+3:22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3:22-36<\/a>)<\/em>. \u00a0For the deeds that the Father has assigned me to complete\u2014the deeds I<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn19\"><sup>[19]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> am now doing\u2014testify about me that the Father has meanings of the Greek word translated <em>takes away<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/air.html#airei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b1\u1f34\u03c1\u03b5\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/air.html#airw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b1\u1f34\u03c1\u03c9<\/a>): \u201cto lift up, take up, pick up; to look up (in prayer); to move upward, raise vertically; to raise to a higher level; to take up and carry along; to lift up and carry away, remove; to take away, remove (no suggestion of lifting up); to bear with, endure; to carry, transport; to bear and uphold; to be dressed as an office-bearer; to cause to emerge.\u201d\u00a0 If one fears punishment for a failure to do good works then <em>takes away<\/em> may be an appropriate understanding of \u03b1\u1f34\u03c1\u03b5\u03b9.\u00a0 And I have accepted
