width=\"160\">Many bull calves encircled me; fat (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#piones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c0\u1f77\u03bf\u03bd\u03b5\u03c2<\/a>) bulls surrounded me;<\/td>\n<td width=\"160\">Many bullocks have compassed me: fat (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#piones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c0\u1f77\u03bf\u03bd\u03b5\u03c2<\/a>) bulls have beset me round.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>The <em>bulls of Bashan<\/em> have been decoded as <a href=\"https:\/\/forwhatsaiththescriptures.org\/2019\/05\/16\/strong-bulls-of-bashan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">religious leaders<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/christianmusings.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/The-Bulls-of-Bashan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">demons<\/a> or a combination of <a href=\"https:\/\/davidvanatter.com\/what-are-the-bulls-of-bashan-4-views-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">people and spirit entities<\/a>.\u00a0 What caught my attention was that <em>strong bulls <\/em>(<em>&#8216;abbiyr<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?t=kjv&amp;strongs=h47\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u05d0\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8\u05b5\u0596\u05d9<\/a>; NET: <em>powerful bulls<\/em>) <em>of Bashan<\/em> was <em>fat bulls<\/em> in the Septuagint.\u00a0 It reminded me of the <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Deuteronomy+31:30\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Song of Moses<\/a>:<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td thick, and stuffed! \u00a0Then he deserted the God who made him, and treated the Rock who saved him with contempt.<\/td>\n<td width=\"160\">And Iakob ate (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ef.html#efage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f14\u03c6\u03b1\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd<\/a>) and was filled (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ene.html#eneplhsqh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f10\u03bd\u03b5\u03c0\u03bb\u1f75\u03c3\u03b8\u03b7<\/a>), and the beloved one kicked. \u00a0He grew fat (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/eli.html#elipanqh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f10\u03bb\u03b9\u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03b8\u03b7<\/a>); he became heavy; he became broad! \u00a0And he abandoned God who made him, and he departed from God his savior.<\/td>\n<td width=\"160\">So Jacob ate (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ef.html#efage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f14\u03c6\u03b1\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd<\/a>) and was filled (<a became thick and broad: then he forsook the God that made him, and departed from God his Saviour.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Though my assumption in these essays is that Jesus preferred the Hebrew version of Psalm 22, I still use the Greek version of the Septuagint to confirm or question the originality of the Masoretic text.\u00a0 In other words, what Hebrew did Jesus prefer?\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/09\/26\/psalm-22-part-4\/#_Tablea\">table<\/a> below of all the other occurrences of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?t=kjv&amp;strongs=h1316\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u05d1\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05a3\u05df<\/a> causes me to question the originality of <em>Bashan <\/em>(\u05d1\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05a3\u05df) in Psalm 22:12.\u00a0 A subset of those occurrences with identical consonants Septuagint.\u00a0 The translation <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ta.html#taurwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u03b1\u1f7b\u03c1\u03c9\u03bd<\/a> (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ta.html#tauros\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c4\u03b1\u1fe6\u03c1\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>) in Deuteronomy 32:14 makes me very suspicious of the originality of \u05d1\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u05df\u0599 (<em>Bashan<\/em>) there.\u00a0 But the translations <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#pion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c0\u1fd6\u03bf\u03bd<\/a> (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#piwn3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c0\u03af\u03c9\u03bd<\/a>) and <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/es.html#esteatwmenoi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f10\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03b1\u03c4\u03c9\u03bc\u1f73\u03bd\u03bf\u03b9<\/a> (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ste.html#steatow\" target=\"_blank\" (<em>Bashan<\/em>) <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#piones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c0\u1f77\u03bf\u03bd\u03b5\u03c2<\/a> (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#piwn3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c0\u03af\u03c9\u03bd<\/a>) in Psalm 22:12.<\/p>\n<p>While adding \u05d1\u05b8\u05e9\u05c1\u05b8\u0596\u05df (<em>Bashan<\/em>) to Psalm 22:12 makes some sense to me\u2014to deflect comparison with the prophecy of Deuteronomy 32:12-15\u2014it seems to implicate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?t=kjv&amp;strongs=h47\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u05d0\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8\u05b5\u0596\u05d9<\/a> (<em>&#8216;abbiyr<\/em>; Tanakh: <em>strong bulls<\/em>; NET: <em>powerful bulls<\/em>) as well.\u00a0 I made a <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/09\/26\/psalm-22-part-4\/#_Tableb\">table<\/a> of all the other occurrences of \u05d0\u05b7\u05d1\u05bc\u05b4\u05d9\u05e8\u05b5\u0596\u05d9 (<em>&#8216;abbiyr<\/em>).\u00a0 The first thing I noticed is that <em>strong bulls <\/em>(Tanakh, KJV) and <em>powerful bulls <\/em>(NET) (<em>dashen<\/em>) was translated <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/li.html#liparos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03bb\u03b9\u03c0\u03b1\u03c1\u1f79\u03c2<\/a>, even though that reverses the word order of the Masoretic text.\u00a0 The Greek word <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#piona\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c0\u1f77\u03bf\u03bd\u03b1<\/a> (another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#piwn3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03c0\u03af\u03c9\u03bd<\/a>) doesn\u2019t appear to have any counterpart in the Hebrew of the Masoretic text.\u00a0 Its English translation <em>fertile <\/em>is the meaning of \u05d1\u05e9\u05df (<em>Bashan<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>So if the Masoretes changed \u05d3\u05e9\u05df (<em>dashen<\/em>) to \u05d1\u05e9\u05df (<em>Bashan<\/em>) in Psalm 22:12 it was so clever and subtle a change as to be almost unnecessary, except to hide the connection between the <em>fat bulls<\/em> that surrounded Jesus as He was crucified and <em>the fat ones of the earth<\/em> who <em>have eaten and worshipped<\/em> in that portion of the psalm which described <em><a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Hebrews+12:2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the joy set out for him<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The translators of the NET offered sufficient notes to reveal their understanding of Psalm 22:29.\u00a0 They recognized that <em>all <\/em>meant all:<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/09\/26\/psalm-22-part-4\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Together the two form a merism encompassing all human beings\u2014the healthy, the dying, and everyone in between.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>They acknowledged that the text says that <em>all <\/em>will worship the Lord:<a he envisions a time when the Lord will receive universal worship. The mood is one of wishful thinking and anticipation; this is not prophecy in the strict sense.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I can accept no longer that Jesus, as He died on the cross meditating on this psalm, thought it was \u201cwishful thinking.\u201d\u00a0 I believe the One who <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/01\/12\/pauls-religious-mind-revisited-part-5\/#_cowardice\">frightened<\/a> his disciples, saying\u2014<em>How then would the scriptures that say it must happen this way be fulfilled?<\/em><a
