statement\u2014<em>if you live according to the flesh, you will die<\/em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/15\/the-life\/#sdfootnote1sym\" name=\"sdfootnote1anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a>\u2014to Jesus\u2019 saying to Martha\u2014<em>The one who believes in me will live even if he dies<\/em>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/15\/the-life\/#sdfootnote2sym\" name=\"sdfootnote2anc\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 This connection was new to me, so I thought it deserved a little more study.\u00a0 In the past I would have related Jesus\u2019 saying to Martha (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/John+11:25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 11:25<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/John+11:26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">26 NET<\/a>) to the mystery Paul expounded (1 Corinthians 15:51-53 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Listen, I will tell you a mystery: <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/13\/atonement-part-6\/#_ftn35\">We<\/a> will not all sleep, but we will all be changed \u2013 <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/13\/atonement-part-6\/#_Table7\">Table<\/a>]<em> in a moment, in the blinking of an eye, at the last trumpet. \u00a0For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. \u00a0For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.<\/em><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In that case, those who sleep are like <em>The one who believes in <\/em>[Jesus] and lives<em> even if he dies<\/em>.\u00a0 That may not be wrong.\u00a0 But what got my attention was that Martha already believed in the resurrection.\u00a0 <em>I know that he will come back to life again in the resurrection <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anas.html#anastasei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03bd\u03b1\u03c3\u03c4\u1f71\u03c3\u03b5\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anas.html#anastasis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03bd\u03ac\u03c3\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>) <em>at the last day<\/em>,<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/15\/the-life\/#sdfootnote3sym\" name=\"sdfootnote3anc\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a> she said.\u00a0 It was to that belief that Jesus responded, <em>I am the resurrection<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anas.html#anastasis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03bd\u03ac\u03c3\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>) <em>and the life<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/zw.html#zwh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03c9\u03ae<\/a>).<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/15\/the-life\/#sdfootnote4sym\" name=\"sdfootnote4anc\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Suddenly I saw those verses as follows:<\/p>\n<table border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td colspan=\"2\" valign=\"top\" (NET)<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Where I could believe both statements was in <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Romans+8:13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Romans 8:13 (NET)<\/a> once I accepted that <em>die<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/apoq.html#apoqnhskein\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03b8\u03bd\u1fc4\u03c3\u03ba\u03b5\u03b9\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/apoq.html#apoqnhskw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03b8\u03bd\u03ae\u03c3\u03ba\u03c9<\/a>) meant <em>death<\/em> and not <em>eternal damnation<\/em>:<\/p>\n<table border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/zh.html#zhsesqe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u1f75\u03c3\u03b5\u03c3\u03b8\u03b5<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/za.html#zaw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03ac\u03c9<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p align=\"right\">Romans 8:13 (NET)<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>The noun <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/zw.html#zwh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03c9\u03ae<\/a> was used forty-seven times in the New Testament to name the new life believers find in Christ both here and now, and in the future.\u00a0 It was used forty-four times with <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/aiw.html#aiwnios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b1\u1f30\u03ce\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2<\/a> and translated <em>eternal<\/em> or <em>everlasting life<\/em>.\u00a0 Jesus spoke of a time <em>when all who are in the tombs <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn15\">will hear<\/a> his voice <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_Table7\">Table<\/a>]<em> and will come out \u2013 the ones who have done what is good to the resurrection<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anas.html#anastasin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03bd\u1f71\u03c3\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anas.html#anastasis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03bd\u03ac\u03c3\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>) <em>resulting in life<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/zw.html#zwhs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03c9\u1fc6\u03c2<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/zw.html#zwh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03c9\u03ae<\/a>), <em>and the ones who have done what is evil to the resurrection<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anas.html#anastasin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03bd\u1f71\u03c3\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anas.html#anastasis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03bd\u03ac\u03c3\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>) <em>resulting in condemnation<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krisews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03c3\u03b5\u03c9\u03c2<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>; literally, <em>judgment<\/em>).<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/15\/the-life\/#sdfootnote5sym\" name=\"sdfootnote5anc\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Twice Jesus referred to Himself as the <em>bread of life<\/em>.\u00a0 Peter called Him the <em>Prince of life<\/em> (<em>Originator of life<\/em>, NET).\u00a0 I found five occurrences that seem to refer exclusively to the resurrected life of Jesus, and six others that seem to refer exclusively to the resurrected life of people as opposed to new life here and now.\u00a0 It was used twice as <em>Spirit of life<\/em>, eight times as <em>book of life<\/em>, three times each as <em>tree of life<\/em> and <em>water of life<\/em>.\u00a0 It was used twice of Melchizedek, which I called <em>Immortal Life<\/em>.\u00a0 I found only eight occurrences of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/zw.html#zwh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03c9\u03ae<\/a> in the New Testament that seemed to refer to ordinary human target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c8\u03c5\u03c7\u03ae<\/a> in Strong\u2019s Concordance (the next word I want to consider) <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/zw.html#zwh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03c9\u03ae<\/a> (<em>zoe<\/em>) is described as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/greek\/5590.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mere vitality<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0 That may be true of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/zw.html#zwh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03c9\u03ae<\/a> in Greek generally.\u00a0 I rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03ac\u03c9<\/a>) in <em>The one who believes in me will live even if he dies<\/em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/15\/the-life\/#sdfootnote11sym\" name=\"sdfootnote11anc\"><sup>11<\/sup><\/a> means the <em>resurrected life<\/em> that Martha believed in and Jesus claimed to be.\u00a0 And I am also suggesting that <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/zh.html#zhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u1ff6\u03bd<\/a> (another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/za.html#zaw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b6\u03ac\u03c9<\/a>) in <em>the one who href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/1+John+5:16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 John 5:16 (NET)<\/a>, whether John meant <em>mere vitality<\/em> or not: <em>If anyone sees his fellow href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qa.html#qanaton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u1f71\u03bd\u03b1\u03c4\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qa.html#qanatos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u03ac\u03bd\u03b1\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>). \u00a0<em>There is a sin resulting in death<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qa.html#qanaton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u1f71\u03bd\u03b1\u03c4\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qa.html#qanatos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u03ac\u03bd\u03b1\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>). \u00a0<em>I do not say that he should ask about that<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In the movie \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Meet_Joe_Black\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Meet Joe Black<\/a>\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anthony_Hopkins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anthony Hopkins<\/a>\u2019 character Bill Parrish instinctively restrained <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brad_Pitt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brad Pitt\u2019s<\/a> character Death from stepping off the curb into traffic.\u00a0 It is an ironic and humorous moment since the body Death took was killed in traffic, standing in the middle of the street longing for another glimpse of Bill\u2019s daughter Susan, and because Death had just bragged about how much beyond Bill\u2019s comprehension the work of Death was.\u00a0 But it also displayed Bill\u2019s character, instinctively protecting the life of his nemesis simply because he appeared in form as another human being.\u00a0 I assume however that John was not talking about stepping off the curb in front of an oncoming bus as <em>a sin resulting in death<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>When the Pharisees accused Him of casting out demons <em>by the power of Beelzebul, the ruler of demons<\/em>,<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/15\/the-life\/#sdfootnote14sym\" name=\"sdfootnote14anc\"><sup>14<\/sup><\/a> Jesus replied (Matthew 12:25-29a NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Every kingdom divided against itself is destroyed, and no town or house divided against itself will stand. \u00a0So if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself.\u00a0 How then will his kingdom stand? \u00a0And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out?\u00a0 For this reason they will be your judges. \u00a0But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has already overtaken you. \u00a0How else can someone enter a strong man\u2019s house and steal his property, unless he first ties up the strong it.\u00a0 The new life, that life <em>fathered by God<\/em> that does not sin\u2014<em>Now if I do what I do not want, it is <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/10\/18\/romans-part-28\/\">no longer me doing it<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/10\/01\/a-shadow-of-the-good-things-part-6\/#_ftn16\">but<\/a> sin that lives in me<\/em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/15\/the-life\/#sdfootnote18sym\" name=\"sdfootnote18anc\"><sup>18<\/sup><\/a>\u2014because God protects that life <em>and the evil one cannot touch him<\/em>, is the true need of the <em>fellow Christian committing a sin not resulting in death<\/em>.\u00a0 That life, <em>this <a
