Why? \u201cFor in the image of God, etc.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In another <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/23\/fear-genesis-part-5\/#_law\">essay<\/a>, reading only from the Masoretic text, I called this \u201ca righteous expectation of the law God gave Noah and his sons after the flood.\u201d\u00a0 I wrote, \u201cGod (<em>\u02bc\u0115l\u00f4h\u0131\u0302ym<\/em>, \u05d0\u05dc\u05d4\u05d9\u05dd) spoke one law to address violence\u201d in <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/10\/25\/fear-deuteronomy-part-10\/#_law\">another<\/a>.\u00a0 And in <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/12\/30\/fear-deuteronomy-part-11\/#_law\">another<\/a>, even after checking the Septuagint but not yet giving it the weight I do today, I used this \u201claw\u201d to justify killing the Canaanites: \u201cIn this sense then Israel\u2019s army became a limited cleansing <em>flood<\/em>, as opposed to the flood <em>yeh\u00f4v\u00e2h <\/em>promised not to unleash again <em>to destroy the earth<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_description\"><\/a>The Septuagint doesn\u2019t include the phrase <em>by man<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?t=kjv&amp;strongs=h120\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u05d1\u05bc\u05b8\u05bd\u05d0\u05b8\u05d3\u05b8\u0596\u05dd<\/a>), or <em>by other humans<\/em> (NET).\u00a0 It is entirely possible that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?t=kjv&amp;strongs=h430\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u05d0\u05b1\u05dc\u05b9\u05d4\u05b4\u0594\u05d9\u05dd<\/a> (<em>&#8216;\u0115l\u014dh\u00eem<\/em>) described his own attitude and actions toward murderers henceforward rather than delegating that authority to human beings through a law, regardless if human beings understood his words as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=open+season+definition&amp;rlz=1C1FLDB_enUS524US615&amp;oq=open+season+definition&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j0i22i30l9.7289j1j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open season<\/a> on those who killed their loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>He said: <em>your blood of your lives will I require<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lang\/lexicon\/lexicon.cfm?t=kjv&amp;strongs=h1875\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u05d0\u05b6\u05d3\u05b0\u05e8\u0594\u05e9\u05c1<\/a>), <em>I will surely exact punishment<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/03\/29\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-5\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a> (NET), <em>I will seek
