A friend asked for the transcript of the prayer I prayed at my mother\u2019s funeral.\u00a0 I should apologize to my sister.\u00a0 She asked for the same thing many months ago and I never got around to it.\u00a0 So, finally, here it is.<\/p>\n
It is a prayer that Jesus has taught, and continues to teach, me. \u00a0I pray it back to Him every day.\u00a0 It alludes to, paraphrases or quotes from various Scriptures.\u00a0 It changes from time to time as He teaches me more.<\/p>\n
<\/a>After I prayed it at Mom\u2019s funeral a man commented on it and invited me to his church.\u00a0 His church has become my church.\u00a0 This version is slightly altered from the prayer I prayed at the funeral because the Pastor has been teaching Matthew 6:9-15 for the past three weeks.<\/p>\n Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored[1]<\/sup><\/a> as holy by me, by all who believe and by all.\u00a0 [M]<\/em>ay your kingdom come, may your will be done on earth<\/a> as it is in heaven[2]<\/sup><\/a> in and through me, in and through all who believe and in and through all.<\/em>\u00a0 Give us this day our daily bread.[3]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 [F]<\/em>orgive us our debts, as we\u2026have forgiven<\/a> our debtors.[4]<\/sup><\/a><\/em>\u00a0 Lead us not into temptation,[5]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> but deliver us from the evil<\/a>\u2026[6]<\/sup><\/a><\/em>\u00a0 For…the kingdom and the power and the glory [are Yours]<\/em> forever.[7]<\/sup><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n My persistent prayer for justice[8]<\/sup><\/a> is for the mercy<\/a> on which everything depends, for<\/em> it does not depend on human desire or exertion, but on [You]<\/em> who shows mercy<\/a>.[9]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 And You have<\/em> consigned all to disobedience, [so]<\/em> that [You]<\/em> may have mercy on all.[10]<\/sup><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n <\/a>Grant<\/a> us<\/em> according to the wealth<\/a> of [your]<\/em> glory\u2026to be strengthened with power [by the Holy]<\/em> Spirit in the inner person,[11]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> that Christ [dwells]<\/em> in [our]<\/em> hearts through faith, [that we being]<\/em> rooted and grounded in love<\/a>,[12]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> comprehend with all the saints[13]<\/sup><\/a> the height, the depth, the length, the breadth,<\/em> and\u2026know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge…that [we]<\/em> will be filled up to all the fullness of God.[14]<\/sup><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n Thank you for this eternal life<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n Thank you for people.\u00a0 I pray for all people, especially those in authority, from the least to the greatest across every field of human endeavor all over the world,<\/em> that we lead quiet, peaceful lives with all dignity and godliness.[15]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0<\/a>I ask that we know by faith[16]<\/sup><\/a> your<\/em> love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness<\/a>, and self-control[17]<\/sup><\/a> [Table<\/a>]<\/em> springing up within us<\/em> to eternal life from your Holy Spirit.[18]<\/sup><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n I ask on behalf of those who have not yet received[19]<\/sup><\/a> you, or have wandered off,[20]<\/sup><\/a> please open the eyes blinded[21]<\/sup><\/a> by the prince of the power of the air.[22]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0Please send laborers into your harvest.[23]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0Thank you for those who are already there. \u00a0Please convince,[24]<\/sup><\/a> convict,[25]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> prove the world wrong concerning sin, righteousness
