Jesus said to him, \u201cWhat you are about to do, <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+10:18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">do quickly<\/a>.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_who\"><\/a>Jesus\u2019 command here\u2014<em>do quickly <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/poi.html#poihson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03bf\u1f77\u03b7\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ta.html#tacion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u1f71\u03c7\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>)\u2014fills me with awe as I consider the responsibility of authority.\u00a0 Was He speaking to Judas?\u00a0 Was He speaking to Satan?\u00a0 It\u2019s difficult to say that He was speaking to <em>both<\/em>: \u03c0\u03bf\u1f77\u03b7\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd is singular.\u00a0 But was He speaking to Satan\/Judas, a unitary singular, at that moment?<\/p>\n<p>It leads me to Paul\u2019s letter to the Ephesians (Ephesians 3:7-12 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I became<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> a servant of this gospel according to the gift of God\u2019s grace that was given<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> to me by the exercise of his power. \u00a0To me\u2014less than the least of all the<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> saints\u2014this grace was given, to proclaim to<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> the Gentiles the<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> unfathomable riches<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn8\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> of Christ and to enlighten everyone about God\u2019s secret plan<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn9\"><sup>[9]<\/sup><\/a><\/em>\u2014the mystery that has been hidden for ages in God who has created all things.<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn10\"><sup>[10]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> \u00a0The purpose of this enlightenment is that through the church the multifaceted wisdom of God should now be disclosed to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms. \u00a0This was according to the eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn11\"><sup>[11]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and confident access<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> to God by way of Christ\u2019s faithfulness.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I\u2019m assuming that <em>the rulers<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/arc.html#arcais\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c1\u03c7\u03b1\u1fd6\u03c2<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/arc.html#arch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c1\u03c7\u03ae<\/a>) <em>and the authorities<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/exo.html#exousiais\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03be\u03bf\u03c5\u03c3\u1f77\u03b1\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/exo.html#exousia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03be\u03bf\u03c5\u03c3\u03af\u03b1<\/a>) <em>in the heavenly realms<\/em> here are identical to those Paul mentioned later in the same letter (Ephesians 6:10-12 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Finally,<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his power. \u00a0Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. \u00a0For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/arc.html#arcas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c1\u03c7\u1f71\u03c2<\/a>, another form of \u1f00\u03c1\u03c7\u03ae)<\/em>, against the powers <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/exo.html#exousias\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03be\u03bf\u03c5\u03c3\u1f77\u03b1\u03c2<\/a>, another form of \u1f10\u03be\u03bf\u03c5\u03c3\u03af\u03b1)<\/em>, against the world rulers of this darkness,<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn14\"><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/a><\/em> against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>These are <em>the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms<\/em> to whom <em>the multifaceted wisdom of God should now be disclosed through the church <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dia.html#dia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u1f70<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/th.html#ths\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u1fc6\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ekk.html#ekklhsias\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03ba\u03ba\u03bb\u03b7\u03c3\u1f77\u03b1\u03c2<\/a>).\u00a0 I want to be careful to think in terms of the <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ekk.html#ekklhsia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03ba\u03ba\u03bb\u03b7\u03c3\u03af\u03b1<\/a>, those called by God to faith in Christ, since <em>churches <\/em>include both the \u1f10\u03ba\u03ba\u03bb\u03b7\u03c3\u03af\u03b1 and those still dominated by <em>the rulers <\/em>(\u1f00\u03c1\u03c7\u1f71\u03c2), <em>the powers <\/em>(\u1f10\u03be\u03bf\u03c5\u03c3\u1f77\u03b1\u03c2), <em>the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens<\/em>.\u00a0 While this is a constant source of perplexity and disappointment to us, I think Satan probably knows at any given moment those who are his and those who are not.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m assuming also that this disclosure to <em>the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms<\/em> has more to do with our actions prompted by faith than our words.\u00a0 Perhaps, it has even more to do with God\u2019s actions toward and through us than <em>our <\/em>actions per se.\u00a0 And if that\u2019s true I may be <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Matthew+23:24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">straining gnats<\/a> to distinguish between the \u1f10\u03ba\u03ba\u03bb\u03b7\u03c3\u03af\u03b1 and <em>churches<\/em>.\u00a0 God\u2019s acts through us to those among us who are Satan\u2019s own could be as much a part of this disclosure (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Matthew+5:43\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew 5:43-48<\/a>) as anything else I might be imagining.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_beginning\"><\/a>This brings me of it as God\u2019s love for Satan, or, frankly, his <em>love <\/em>for anyone.\u00a0 It struck me as a strange tale, actually a strange drama of unseen forces, choices and actions that might impact my life and peace of mind.\u00a0 At first, I didn\u2019t believe that <em>God is love<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn15\"><sup>[15]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Now I want to remember that fact as I consider rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u1f71\u03b2\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2<\/a> in Job 1:6 doesn\u2019t cause me to question the originality of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lexicon\/h7854\/kjv\/wlc\/0-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u05d4\u05b7\u05e9\u05bc\u05c2\u05b8\u05d8\u05b8\u0596\u05df<\/a> (<em>\u015b\u0101\u1e6d\u0101n<\/em>) in the Masoretic text.\u00a0 A verse near the end of the New Testament ties both of these words together (Revelation 12:9 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So that huge to Satan about Job.\u00a0 Considering what happened next, I was led to Ecclesiastes (Ecclesiastes 7:16-18 NIV).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Do not be overrighteous, neither be overwise\u2014why destroy yourself? \u00a0Do not be overwicked, and do not be a fool\u2014why die before your time? \u00a0It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other.\u00a0 Whoever fears God will avoid all extremes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a id=\"_wife\"><\/a>I sensed the growing <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Matthew+5:6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hunger and thirst for righteousness<\/a> within me.\u00a0 My misunderstanding of God in the book of Job, my natural instinct to seek out <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/07\/27\/davids-forgiveness-part-2\/#_Nietzsche\">ballast<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/02\/19\/torture-part-4\/#_bent\">philosophical bent<\/a> of my mind made this little bit of <a href=\"https:\/\/courses.lumenlearning.com\/atd-epcc-introethics-1\/chapter\/aristotles-doctrine-of-the-mean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aristotelian sagacity<\/a> quite compelling.\u00a0 I even quoted it to my second wife.<\/p>\n<p>Everything turned out fine for me.\u00a0 I lead a ridiculously blessed life that seems completely undeserved.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t turn out so well for my family, and so I am repenting of practicing this particular <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Golden_mean_(philosophy)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mean between the extremes<\/a>.\u00a0 Whatever Solomon meant it is no excuse to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1%20Thessalonians%205%3A19&amp;version=NASB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quench<\/a> the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 By the grace of God I will do my best now to follow wherever his hunger and thirst for righteousness leads.<\/p>\n<p>And believing that <em>God is love<\/em>, I no longer hear Him bragging to Satan: Love <em>is not glad about injustice, but rejoices in the truth<\/em>.<a
