href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/diw.html#diwkonta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u1f7d\u03ba\u03bf\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/diw.html#diwkw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ce\u03ba\u03c9<\/a>) <em>righteousness <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u03cd\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>) <em>obtained it <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u03cd\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>)<em>, that is, a righteousness <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u03cd\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>) <em>that is by faith, but Israel even though pursuing<\/em> (\u03b4\u03b9\u1f7d\u03ba\u03c9\u03bd, another form of \u03b4\u03b9\u03ce\u03ba\u03c9) <em>a law of righteousness <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunhs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b7\u03c2<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u03cd\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>) <em>did not attain <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_ftn20\">it<\/a><\/em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_Table22\">Table<\/a>].<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote1sym\" name=\"sdfootnote1anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 In other words, people who really worked at achieving righteousness by <em>pursuing<\/em> God\u2019s law <em>did not attain<\/em> that righteousness, while people <em>who did not pursue righteousness<\/em> at all did attain it.<\/p>\n<p>Isolated from any context, this sounds extraordinarily unfair.\u00a0 But this decision was made so far beyond any judgment of mine regarding what is fair, <em>it does not depend on human desire or exertion, but on God who <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/04\/22\/religious-and-righteous-prayer\/#sdfootnote13sym\">shows mercy<\/a><\/em>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote2sym\" name=\"sdfootnote2anc\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When <em>Rebekah had conceived children by one man<\/em>, Paul had written earlier, <em>our ancestor Isaac \u2013 even before they were born or had done anything good or <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/08\/29\/who-am-i-part-14\/#sdfootnote11sym\">bad<\/a> (so that God\u2019s purpose in election would stand, not by works <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#ergwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03c9\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#ergon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>] <em>but by his calling <\/em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kal.html#kalountos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03bf\u1fe6\u03bd\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kal.html#kalew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03ad\u03c9<\/a>]) \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/08\/29\/who-am-i-part-14\/#sdfootnote12sym\">it was said<\/a> to her, \u201c<strong><em>The older will serve the younger<\/em><\/strong>,\u201d<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote3sym\" name=\"sdfootnote3anc\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a> <em>just as it is written:<\/em> \u201c<strong><em>Jacob I loved<\/em><\/strong><em>, <strong>but Esau I hated<\/strong><\/em>\u201d<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote4sym\" name=\"sdfootnote4anc\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/a> [<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/08\/29\/who-am-i-part-14\/#_Table15\">Table<\/a>].<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote5sym\" name=\"sdfootnote5anc\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Complaining about this is about as productive as complaining about who my parents were.\u00a0 But just as God knows my parents and my upbringing, what advantages or debilities that afforded me, He knows who has received mercy and who He has hardened: <em>God has mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy, and he hardens <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sk.html#sklhrunei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03ba\u03bb\u03b7\u03c1\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sk.html#sklhrunw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03ba\u03bb\u03b7\u03c1\u03cd\u03bd\u03c9<\/a>)<em> whom he chooses to harden<\/em>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote6sym\" name=\"sdfootnote6anc\"><sup>6<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Why not?<\/em> Paul continued.\u00a0 Why didn\u2019t Israel attain the righteousness they pursued by law?\u00a0 <em>Because they pursued it not by faith but (as if it were possible) by <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_ftn21\">works<\/a> <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#ergwn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03c9\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#ergon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>).<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote7sym\" name=\"sdfootnote7anc\"><sup>7<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Paul wasn\u2019t writing about <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/09\/18\/romans-part-17\/\">faith alone<\/a>, dead faith that produces no works: <em>So also faith, if it does not have works <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#erga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#ergon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>)<em>, is dead being by itself<\/em>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote8sym\" name=\"sdfootnote8anc\"><sup>8<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Instead he wrote of deeds that have been done in God through faith in His <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/10\/15\/romans-part-25\/\">credited righteousness<\/a>: <em>For everyone who does evil deeds <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/fa.html#faula\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c6\u03b1\u1fe6\u03bb\u03b1<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/fa.html#faulos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c6\u03b1\u1fe6\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>), Jesus said, <em>hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#erga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#ergon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>) <em>will not be exposed<\/em>. \u00a0<em>But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#erga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#ergon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>) <em>have been done in God<\/em>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote9sym\" name=\"sdfootnote9anc\"><sup>9<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Israel did not attain righteousness because they pursued it by dead works, if you will, apart from faith in the righteousness that comes from God:\u00a0 <em>For ignoring the righteousness <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u03cd\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>) <em>that comes from God, <\/em>Paul wrote early in the next chapter, <em>and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u03cd\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>)<em> they did not submit to God\u2019s righteousness <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u1fc3<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u03cd\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>).<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote10sym\" name=\"sdfootnote10anc\"><sup>10<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One more point of clarification before moving on:\u00a0 The <em>Gentiles who did not pursue<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/diw.html#diwkonta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u1f7d\u03ba\u03bf\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/diw.html#diwkw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ce\u03ba\u03c9<\/a>) <em>righteousness<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u03cd\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>) before Paul preached the Gospel to them, did pursue it afterward, but not <em>a law of righteousness<\/em> (except those he wrote to at <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Galatians+2:15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Galatia<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Colossians+2:16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colossae<\/a> in order to correct that very error).\u00a0 Paul\u2019s instructions to the young Gospel preacher Timothy are helpful here: <em>pursue<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/diw.html#diwke\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u1f77\u03c9\u03ba\u03b5<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/diw.html#diwkw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ce\u03ba\u03c9<\/a>) <em>righteousness<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dik.html#dikaiosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03b9\u03bf\u03c3\u03cd\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>) (e.g., <em>the righteousness<\/em>\u00a0<em>that comes from God<\/em>), <em>godliness, faithfulness<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#pistin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u1f77\u03c3\u03c4\u03b9\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#pistis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03c4\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>), <em>love<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agap.html#agaphn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03b3\u1f71\u03c0\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agap.html#agaph\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03b3\u03ac\u03c0\u03b7<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/10\/04\/romans-part-21\/\"><em>endurance<\/em><\/a> (<a yet <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/01\/13\/romans-part-91\/#_ftn46\">the one who<\/a> believes in him will not be put to shame.<\/strong><\/em>\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote18sym\" name=\"sdfootnote18anc\"><sup>18<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Paul did not believe that the cornerstone for the foundation (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qe.html#qemelia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u03b5\u03bc\u03ad\u03bb\u03b9\u03b1<\/a>) stone (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/li.html#liqos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bb\u03af\u03b8\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>) of Zion was the law. \u00a0He chose the word <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ti.html#tiqhmi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u03af\u03b8\u03b7\u03bc\u03b9<\/a> (<em>I will lay<\/em>) instead.<\/p>\n<p><em>For no one can lay<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qe.html#qeinai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u03b5\u1fd6\u03bd\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ti.html#tiqhmi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u03af\u03b8\u03b7\u03bc\u03b9<\/a>) <em>any foundation<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qe.html#qemelion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u03b5\u03bc\u03ad\u03bb\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qe.html#qemelios\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u03b5\u03bc\u03ad\u03bb\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>) <em>other than what is being laid, <\/em>Paul wrote the Corinthians, <em>which is Jesus <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/03\/11\/to-make-holy-part-9\/#_ftn23\">Christ<\/a><\/em>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote19sym\" name=\"sdfootnote19anc\"><sup>19<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 And Jesus said, <em>I am the good href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2024\/11\/26\/exploration-part-3\/#_Table3\">Table<\/a>]\u2014<em>a stone that will cause people to stumble and a rock that will make them fall<\/em>\u2014but he didn\u2019t quote from the Septuagint.\u00a0 <em>Indeed this is what the Lord told me, Isaiah wrote.\u00a0 He took hold of me firmly and warned me not to act like these people<\/em> (Isaiah 8:11-16 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDo not say, \u2018Conspiracy,\u2019 every time these people say the word.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be afraid of what scares them; don\u2019t be terrified <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2024\/09\/01\/christ-centered-preaching-chapter-5\/#_Table3\">Table<\/a>]<em>. \u00a0You must recognize the authority of the Lord who commands armies. \u00a0He is the one you must respect; he is the one you must fear. \u00a0He will become a sanctuary, but a stone that makes a person trip, and a rock that makes one stumble \u2013 to the two houses of Israel.\u00a0 He will become a trap and a snare to the residents of Jerusalem <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2024\/11\/26\/exploration-part-3\/#_Table3\">Table<\/a>]<em>. \u00a0Many will stumble over the stone and the rock, and will fall and be seriously injured, and will be ensnared and captured.\u201d \u00a0Tie up the scroll as legal evidence, seal the official record of God\u2019s instructions and give it to my followers.<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So Paul equated the stone the Lord would lay and the stone He would become to Jacob (<em>the two houses of Israel<\/em>).\u00a0 Did the translators of the Septuagint make this connection?\u00a0 It\u2019s hard to say.\u00a0 They amended the text apparently to read, \u201cand ye shall not come against [him] as against a stumbling-stone, neither as against the falling of a rock.\u201d<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote21sym\" name=\"sdfootnote21anc\"><sup>21<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finally Paul concluded with, <strong><em>yet the one who believes in him will not be put to shame<\/em><\/strong>, which is quite similar to the href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ou.html#ou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bf\u1f50<\/a>&#8216;.\u201d<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/10\/romans-part-36\/#sdfootnote22sym\" name=\"sdfootnote22anc\"><sup>22<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 The words <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katai.html#kataiscunqh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c7\u03c5\u03bd\u03b8\u1fc7<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katai.html#kataiscunqhsetai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c7\u03c5\u03bd\u03b8\u03ae\u03c3\u03b5\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9<\/a> are different forms of the same verb (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katai.html#kataiscunw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c7\u03cd\u03bd\u03c9<\/a>).\u00a0 \u201cThus, the difference here is only in regards to the mood and tense of the verb, having the aorist form and subjunctive mood in the LXX [Septuagint] and the future form and indicative mood in the NT.\u00a0 In the end since the subjunctive can be said to represent the verbal action (or state) as uncertain but probable (GGBB, 461), both Greek texts look forward to a future pleasant fulfillment\u00a0for those who trust in him.\u00a0 While the LXX&#8217;s subjunctive may be a bit weaker in force, do not forget the strong \u03bf\u1f50 \u03bc\u1f74 which precedes the subjunctive, thus putting away any doubt as to its completion.\u00a0 Both Greek texts follow the MT equally as well, and the sense is not changed by this variation.\u201d<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" rel=\"noopener\">Jim Searcy<\/a> has published that the Septuagint is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moresureword.com\/LXXHOAX.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hoax<\/a> written by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Origen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Origen<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eusebius\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eusebius<\/a> 200 hundred years after Christ.\u00a0 \u201cIn fact, the Septuagint \u2018quotes\u2019 from the New Testament and not vice versa\u2026\u201d\u00a0 His contention is that
