{"id":19803,"date":"2022-12-20T14:58:22","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T20:58:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/?p=19803"},"modified":"2026-06-01T10:16:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T15:16:33","slug":"christianity-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/religiousmind.net\/?p=19803","title":{"rendered":"Christianity, Part 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are 13 occurrences of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pan.html#pantas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03ac\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2<\/a> in Luke&#8217;s Gospel [see <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#_Tablea\">Table<\/a> below], the Greek word translated <i>all people <\/i>in <i>And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people <\/i>(\u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pas.html#pas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u1fb6\u03c2<\/a>) <i>to myself.<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote1sym\" name=\"sdfootnote1anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a> Two occurrences found in narrative passages were limited by words immediately following \u03c0\u03ac\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2, and three others were limited by the time and place mentioned in context. There is one more occurrence in a narrative phrase introducing Jesus&#8217; teaching, one in a question Peter asked Jesus about his teaching and six occurrences spoken by Jesus as He taught. I&#8217;ll consider these in detail.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">And <em>[Jesus]<\/em> said to all <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pan.html#pantas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pas.html#pas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u1fb6\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em>, \u201cIf anyone would <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/06\/12\/isaiah-5210-12-part-8\/#_ftn17\">come<\/a> after me, let him <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/06\/12\/isaiah-5210-12-part-8\/#_ftn18\">deny<\/a> himself and take up his cross <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/06\/12\/isaiah-5210-12-part-8\/#_ftn19\">daily<\/a> and follow me. For <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/06\/12\/isaiah-5210-12-part-8\/#_ftn20\">whoever<\/a> would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote2sym\" name=\"sdfootnote2anc\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In a narrative passage I would assume that \u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2 was limited to all who heard Jesus at a particular time and place: <i>Now it happened that as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote3sym\" name=\"sdfootnote3anc\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a> But the nature of his message here causes me to question that assumption. It seems to apply beyond the immediate time and place to <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ti.html#tis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u03b9\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qe.html#qelei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u1f73\u03bb\u03b5\u03b9<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/op.html#opisw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f40\u03c0\u1f77\u03c3\u03c9<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mo.html#mou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bc\u03bf\u03c5<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/er.html#ercesqai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03c7\u03b5\u03c3\u03b8\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>, <i>anyone <\/i>[who] <i>would come after <\/i>[Jesus].<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Given my predisposition it was natural, perhaps inevitable, for me to consider that this desire (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qe.html#qelei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u1f73\u03bb\u03b5\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qe.html#qelw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u03ad\u03bb\u03c9<\/a>) to follow Jesus originated with, or was conjured by, the human individual. It rendered that individual worthy of Jesus&#8217; salvation. The lack of this desire, or one&#8217;s inability to conjure it, made one worthy of damnation. Then lightning struck, metaphorically speaking, in the form of Jesus&#8217; saying: <i>No one <\/i>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ou.html#oudeis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bf\u1f50\u03b4\u03b5\u1f76\u03c2<\/a>) <i>can <\/i>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/du.html#dunatai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u1f7b\u03bd\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/du.html#dunamai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03cd\u03bd\u03b1\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>) <i>come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote4sym\" name=\"sdfootnote4anc\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The desire to follow Jesus on these terms, <i>let him deny himself and take up his cross daily<\/i>, does not originate with any human individual. It is evidence that one is being drawn by God. And this truth, <i>If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me; For whoever would save his life will lose it<\/i>, <i>but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it<\/i>, is not limited to those who would follow but applies to <i>all<\/i>. So, \u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2 here stands without any limitation of time or place: <i>And he said to all<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote5sym\" name=\"sdfootnote5anc\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I&#8217;d like to consider the fuller version of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/D._A._Carson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">D. A. Carson&#8217;s<\/a> argument quoted in \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/christianpublishinghouse.co\/2017\/12\/19\/what-did-jesus-mean-when-he-said-that-he-will-draw-all-men-and-women-to-myself\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What Did Jesus Mean When He Said That he will &#8216;Draw All Men [and Women] to Myself&#8217;?<\/a>\u201d on the <a href=\"https:\/\/christianpublishinghouse.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christian Publishing House Blog<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cOn the verb \u2018to draw\u2019, cf. notes on 6:44. There, the one who draws is the Father; here [John 12:32], it is the Son, but nothing much should be made of this (5:19)&#8230; <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">John 6:44 quotes Jesus saying: <i>No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/07\/17\/funeral-part-2\/#_ftn32\">And I<\/a> will raise him up <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/07\/17\/funeral-part-2\/#_ftn33\">on<\/a> the last day<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote6sym\" name=\"sdfootnote6anc\"><sup>6<\/sup><\/a> John 5:19 reads: <i>So Jesus <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/08\/07\/hannahs-prayer-part-4\/#_ftn4\">said to them<\/a>, \u201cTruly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote7sym\" name=\"sdfootnote7anc\"><sup>7<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mr. Carson&#8217;s quote continued:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cBut the scope and efficacy of the drawing in the two places are quite different. There, the focus is on those individuals whom the Father gives to the Son, whom the Son infallibly preserves and raises up at the last day. Here, \u2018all men\u2019 reminds the reader of what triggered these statements, viz. the arrival of the Greeks&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The \u201carrival of the Greeks\u201d is a reference to the following (John 12:20-23 ESV):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks. So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, \u201cSir, we wish to see Jesus.\u201d Philip<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote8sym\" name=\"sdfootnote8anc\"><sup>8<\/sup><\/a><\/em> went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote9sym\" name=\"sdfootnote9anc\"><sup>9<\/sup><\/a><\/em> and<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote10sym\" name=\"sdfootnote10anc\"><sup>10<\/sup><\/a><\/em> told Jesus. And Jesus answered<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote11sym\" name=\"sdfootnote11anc\"><sup>11<\/sup><\/a><\/em> them, \u201cThe hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I agree that \u201cthe scope&#8230;of the drawing [is] quite different\u201d in John 6:44 and 12:32. The Father draws a select few relative to all who have lived, or will ever live, on earth prior to Jesus&#8217; crucifixion. Jesus promises to draw all afterward. But I fail to see how the \u201carrival of the Greeks\u201d as described above alters the \u201cefficacy of the drawing.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In the KJV \u03c0\u03ac\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2 was translated <i>all men <\/i>(ESV: <i>all people<\/i>), but the Greek is not \u03c0\u03ac\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2 <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anq.html#anqrwpon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f04\u03bd\u03b8\u03c1\u03c9\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd<\/a> or \u03c0\u03ac\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2 <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anq.html#anqrwpous\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03bd\u03b8\u03c1\u03ce\u03c0\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2<\/a> as if Jesus intended to limit \u03c0\u03ac\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2 in some way. It is simply \u03c0\u03ac\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2. <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Yet in Mr. Carson&#8217;s argument the \u201carrival of the Greeks\u201d so alters the efficacy of Jesus&#8217; drawing that <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pan.html#pantas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/elk.html#elkusw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f11\u03bb\u03ba\u1f7b\u03c3\u03c9<\/a> (literally: \u201call I will draw\u201d)&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&#8230;means \u2018all people without distinction, Jews and Gentiles alike\u2019, not all individuals without exception, since the surrounding context has just established judgment as a major theme (v. 31), a time for distinguishing between those who love their lives (and therefore lose them) and those who hate their lives (and therefore keep them for eternal life, v. 25).\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">John 12:31 reads: <i>Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote12sym\" name=\"sdfootnote12anc\"><sup>12<\/sup><\/a> This indicates to me that Mr. Carson thought <i>the judgment of this world <\/i>and the casting out of <i>the ruler of this world <\/i>were <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/14\/christianity-part-3\/#_contradiction\">opposed<\/a> somehow to Jesus drawing all to Himself. John 12:25 reads: <i>Whoever loves his life loses<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote13sym\" name=\"sdfootnote13anc\"><sup>13<\/sup><\/a> <i>it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote14sym\" name=\"sdfootnote14anc\"><sup>14<\/sup><\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I want to consider this in context (John 12:23-26 ESV):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">And Jesus answered them, \u201cThe hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote15sym\" name=\"sdfootnote15anc\"><sup>15<\/sup><\/a><\/em> anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">All that follows falls under the heading: <i>The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote16sym\" name=\"sdfootnote16anc\"><sup>16<\/sup><\/a> Jesus referred to Himself here as <i>the Son of Man <\/i>but whenever I hear this phrase I think also of those who follow Him. <i>Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote17sym\" name=\"sdfootnote17anc\"><sup>17<\/sup><\/a> He spoke of his own death but also the death of those who would follow Him. <i>Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote18sym\" name=\"sdfootnote18anc\"><sup>18<\/sup><\/a> This is true of <i>the Son of Man <\/i>as it is true of all born of Him. And if I seek more clarification, what it means to hate my life <i>in this world<\/i>, Jesus spoke directly to us: <i>If anyone serves me, he must follow me<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote19sym\" name=\"sdfootnote19anc\"><sup>19<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This brings me back to the beginning of this essay: <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">If anyone would <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/06\/12\/isaiah-5210-12-part-8\/#_ftn17\">come<\/a> after me, let him <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/06\/12\/isaiah-5210-12-part-8\/#_ftn18\">deny<\/a> himself and take up his cross <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/06\/12\/isaiah-5210-12-part-8\/#_ftn19\">daily<\/a> and follow me.<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote20sym\" name=\"sdfootnote20anc\"><sup>20<\/sup><\/a> <\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To hate my life <i>in this world <\/i>is to <i>deny <\/i>myself (<i>I do not know the man<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote21sym\" name=\"sdfootnote21anc\"><sup>21<\/sup><\/a>) <i>in this world<\/i>, to <i>take up <\/i>[my] <i>cross daily in this world <\/i>and to <i>follow <\/i>Jesus. But if that servant says to himself, \u2018My master is delayed in coming,\u2019 and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I suppose my first thought would be that this parable is a warning to the ambitious: <i>Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time? This is not about following a vague memory of a predetermined plan but being led by the Holy Spirit rather than someone else (including oneself). A <i>light beating <\/i>is insufficient cause to be ignorant of my master&#8217;s will. So, first and foremost I follow the Holy Spirit through the Bible and then in daily life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, how did Jesus answer Peter&#8217;s question: <i>Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all <\/i>(\u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2, a form of \u03c0\u1fb6\u03c2)?<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote37sym\" name=\"sdfootnote37anc\"><sup>37<\/sup><\/a> He answered it at a specific time when God drew a select few to Jesus. But if I believe his promise, <i>And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people <\/i>(\u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pas.html#pas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u1fb6\u03c2<\/a>) <i>to myself,<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote38sym\" name=\"sdfootnote38anc\"><sup>38<\/sup><\/a> I can hear his answer as yes and yes. Yes, it is for you, and, yes, it is for all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The translators of the NET rendered Peter&#8217;s question: <i>Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for everyone<\/i> (\u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2, a form of \u03c0\u1fb6\u03c2)?<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/12\/20\/christianity-part-4\/#sdfootnote39sym\" name=\"sdfootnote39anc\"><sup>39<\/sup><\/a> The blog post I&#8217;ve been quoting reads: \u201cHere we must go a bit further in our understanding of verse 32: <b>But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men <\/b>[\u03c0\u1f71\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2, a form of \u03c0\u1fb6\u03c2] <b>to myself<\/b>. The question I remember most from my unbelief is: If you&#8217;re such a big deal, where are you?
