[T]<i>he chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me about <\/i>[Paul], Festus explained to King Agrippa, <i>asking for a sentence of condemnation<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote7sym\" name=\"sdfootnote7anc\"><sup>7<\/sup><\/a> <\/i>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katad.html#katadikhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u1f77\u03ba\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katad.html#katadikh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03af\u03ba\u03b7<\/a>) <i>against him<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote8sym\" name=\"sdfootnote8anc\"><sup>8<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Greek word <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katad.html#katadikh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03af\u03ba\u03b7<\/a> is the noun form of the verb <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katad.html#katadikazw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9<\/a>. Paul had clearly understood this \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03af\u03ba\u03b7 as a sentence of death if convicted: <i>If then I am in the wrong and have done anything that deserves death, I am not trying to escape dying, but if not one of their charges against me is true, no one can hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote9sym\" name=\"sdfootnote9anc\"><sup>9<\/sup><\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jesus used a form of the verb \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9 in quite another way (Matthew 12:1-3a, 7 NET):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on a Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pick heads of wheat and eat them. But when the Pharisees saw this they said<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote10sym\" name=\"sdfootnote10anc\"><sup>10<\/sup><\/a><\/em> to him, \u201cLook, your disciples are doing what is against the law to do on the Sabbath.\u201d He said to them&#8230; <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cIf you had known what this means: \u2018I want mercy<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote11sym\" name=\"sdfootnote11anc\"><sup>11<\/sup><\/a><\/em> and not sacrifice,\u2019 you would not have condemned the innocent.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here the Pharisees&#8217; stated their <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/01\/29\/justice-and-mercy\/#_knowledge\">opinion<\/a> that Jesus&#8217; disciples&#8217; behavior in Jesus&#8217; presence was contrary to the law, and they implied that they or Jesus or someone ought to do something about it against Jesus&#8217; disciples. Jesus characterized this as <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kated.html#katedikasate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b5\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u1f71\u03c3\u03b1\u03c4\u03b5<\/a> (another form of \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9) <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/to.html#tous\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u03bf\u1f7a\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anai.html#anaitious\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03bd\u03b1\u03b9\u03c4\u1f77\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2<\/a> (NET: <i>you<\/i>&#8230;<i>have condemned the innocent<\/i>). <i>I tell you that on the day of judgment, <\/i>He said later,<i> people will give an account for every worthless word <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/01\/21\/christianity-part-7\/#sdfootnote30sym\">they speak<\/a> <\/i>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/01\/21\/christianity-part-7\/#_Table5\">Table<\/a>]. <i>For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned <\/i>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katad.html#katadikasqhsh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03c3\u03b8\u1f75\u03c3\u1fc3<\/a>, another form of \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9).<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote12sym\" name=\"sdfootnote12anc\"><sup>12<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And finally, Jesus taught (Luke 6:35-37 NET):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">&#8230;love your enemies, and do good, and lend,<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote13sym\" name=\"sdfootnote13anc\"><sup>13<\/sup><\/a><\/em> expecting nothing back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote14sym\" name=\"sdfootnote14anc\"><sup>14<\/sup><\/a><\/em> Most High, because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people. Be merciful,<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote15sym\" name=\"sdfootnote15anc\"><sup>15<\/sup><\/a><\/em> just as your Father is merciful. Do not judge, and you will not be judged; <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/06\/12\/pauls-religious-mind\/#sdfootnote8sym\">do<\/a> not condemn <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katad.html#katadikazete\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u1f71\u03b6\u03b5\u03c4\u03b5<\/a>, another form of \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9), and you will not be condemned (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katad.html#katadikasqhte\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1\u03c3\u03b8\u1fc6\u03c4\u03b5<\/a>, another form of \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9)<\/em>; forgive, and you will be forgiven <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/05\/18\/immorality\/#_Table9\">Table<\/a>].<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/2+Thessalonians+2:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2 Thessalonians 2:12 (NET)<\/a> the Greek word translated <i>will be condemned <\/i>was not <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katad.html#katadikasontai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9<\/a> or any other form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/katad.html#katadikazw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9<\/a>. It was <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#kriqwsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03b9\u03b8\u1ff6\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#krinw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03bd\u03c9<\/a>. A note (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/2+Thessalonians+2:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">25<\/a>) in the NET acknowledged that the Greek is \u201cbe judged,\u201d but added \u201cin this context the term clearly refers to a judgment of condemnation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">An entry in <a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/commentaries\/2_thessalonians\/2-12.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ellicott&#8217;s Commentary for English Readers<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bible Hub<\/a> online reads:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b>That they all<\/b>.\u2014This is God\u2019s purpose in making them believe the lie\u2014\u201cin order that, one and all, they might be judged.\u201d He who desireth not the death of a sinner, now is said actually to lay plans with the intention of judging him: such are the bold self-contradictions of the Bible!<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And <a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/commentaries\/2_thessalonians\/2-12.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meyer&#8217;s NT Commentary<\/a> on the same page reads:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/in.html#ina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f35\u03bd\u03b1<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#kriqwsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03b9\u03b8\u1ff6\u03c3\u03b9<\/a>] i<\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">n order <\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">that they may be judged, <\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">i.e.<\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> according to the context, <\/span><\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">condemned<\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a id=\"_fathers\"><\/a>It seems that <i>context <\/i>here refers to: <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/2+Thessalonians+2:2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>the day of the Lord<\/i><\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Heinrich_August_Wilhelm_Meyer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heinrich August Wilhelm Meyer<\/a> cited \u201cThe <i>Church Fathers<\/i>\u201d approvingly: <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Irenaeus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Irenaeus<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tertullian\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tertullian<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Chrysostom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chrysostom<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cyril_of_Jerusalem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cyril<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Augustine_of_Hippo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Augustine<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Theodoret\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Theodoret<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Theodore_of_Mopsuestia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Theodorus Mopsuestius<\/a> \u201cand others.\u201d<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote16sym\" name=\"sdfootnote16anc\"><sup>16<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">They correctly agree in considering that by the advent (2 Thessalonians 2:1; This is a result clause. And <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#kriqwsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03b9\u03b8\u1ff6\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd<\/a>, <i>will be condemned <\/i>(NET) or <i>may be judged <\/i>(NASB), is a verb in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntgreek.org\/learn_nt_greek\/verbs1.htm#MOOD\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">subjunctive mood<\/a> \u201cin a purpose or result clause, [so] the action should not be thought of as a possible result, but should be viewed as a definite outcome that will happen as a result of another stated action.\u201d What is that other stated action?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a id=\"_judgment\"><\/a><i>God sends<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote23sym\" name=\"sdfootnote23anc\"><sup>23<\/sup><\/a><i> on them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote24sym\" name=\"sdfootnote24anc\"><sup>24<\/sup><\/a> Once my mind is swept clean of the notion that <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kr.html#kriqwsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03b9\u03b8\u1ff6\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd<\/a> was a euphemism for <i>Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels<\/i>,<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote25sym\" name=\"sdfootnote25anc\"><sup>25<\/sup><\/a> it becomes much clearer that God&#8217;s judgment on <i>all of them who have not believed the truth but have delighted in evil<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote26sym\" name=\"sdfootnote26anc\"><sup>26<\/sup><\/a> is to send <i>on them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false<\/i>. Here <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/15\/nothing-true-part-2\/#_judgment\">again<\/a> this is a judgment, not necessarily THE judgment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This judgment doesn&#8217;t preclude Jesus&#8217; <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+12:32\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promise<\/a> to draw all to Himself. On the contrary it could be instrumental to that drawing. When people <i>believe what is false<\/i>, they create a social situation like the one in which we currently live. Are there many among us not seeking some different way to live? <a id=\"_delusion\"><\/a>The Greek words translated <i>deluding influence<\/i> were <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ene.html#energeian\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03bd\u1f73\u03c1\u03b3\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1\u03bd<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pla.html#planhs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03bb\u1f71\u03bd\u03b7\u03c2<\/a> (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pla.html#planh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03bb\u03ac\u03bd\u03b7<\/a>). One of the meanings of \u03c0\u03bb\u03ac\u03bd\u03b7 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pla.html#planh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Koine Greek Lexicon<\/a> online is \u201ca wandering, roaming.\u201d One might say that God&#8217;s judgment is a God-given energy to wander.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Greek word translated <i>so that <\/i>was <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/eis.html#eis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b5\u1f30\u03c2<\/a>. And <i>they will believe <\/i>was <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#pisteusai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u1fe6\u03c3\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>, an infinitive (<em>to trust<\/em>) of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#pisteuw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03cd\u03c9<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntgreek.org\/learn_nt_greek\/verbs1.htm#TENSE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aorist tense<\/a>, rather than <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#pisteusousi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03cd\u03c3\u03bf\u03c5\u03c3\u03b9(\u03bd)<\/a> in the future tense. The entire clause began with <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kai.html#kai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u1f76<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dia.html#dia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u1f70<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/to.html#touto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6\u03c4\u03bf<\/a>, translated <i>Consequently <\/i>(NET), or <i>And for this reason <\/i>(NASB 1977, Legacy Standard Bible).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, the <i>them <\/i>on whom God sends a deluding influence (a God-given energy to wander) are <i>those who are perishing,<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote27sym\" name=\"sdfootnote27anc\"><sup>27<\/sup><\/a><i> because they found no place in their hearts for the truth so as to be saved<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote28sym\" name=\"sdfootnote28anc\"><sup>28<\/sup><\/a> A note (<a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/2+Thessalonians+2:10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">21<\/a>) in the NET acknowledged that <i>they found no place in their hearts for the truth <\/i>was \u201cthey did not accept (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ed.html#edexanto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03b4\u1f73\u03be\u03b1\u03bd\u03c4\u03bf<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dec.html#decomai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03ad\u03c7\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>) the love of the truth\u201d in Greek. This is already at least round two of Jesus&#8217; drawing: the love of the truth was offered but not \u201creceive[d] approvingly.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a id=\"_wander\"><\/a>Apart from the God-given energy to wander I might have spent my entire life here, hanging around a church, not quite believing Jesus or the Bible, conning myself that I did. The God-given energy to wander, and then to trust what was false was at least a <i>faith<\/i>. Part of what is false that I believed was that <em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/07\/27\/davids-forgiveness-part-2\/#_faith\">faith<\/a><\/em> was <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/02\/09\/you-must-be-gentle-part-3\/#_nonexistence\">bad<\/a>, only knowledge was good. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It took some time and experimentation to realize that disbelieving Jesus and the Bible wasn&#8217;t the result of some superior knowledge. It wasn&#8217;t even <em>unbelief<\/em> in any absolute sense of <em>not <\/em>faith. It was simply faith in something less than Jesus and the Bible. When the Lord brought me back from that particular foray into what is false, I returned almost unwittingly with a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SHhrZgojY1Q&amp;list=RDSHhrZgojY1Q&amp;start_radio=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">theme song<\/a> but certainly with a new and lifelong motivation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lyrics.com\/lyric\/30883877\/The+Who\/Won%27t+Get+Fooled+Again\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to not be fooled again<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a id=\"_false\"><\/a>The Greek word translated <i>are perishing <\/i>was <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/apoll.html#apollumenois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03bb\u03bb\u03c5\u03bc\u1f73\u03bd\u03bf\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>, a middle\/passive participle of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/apoll.html#apollumi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03bb\u03c5\u03bc\u03b9, \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03bb\u03c9, \u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03bb\u03bb\u03cd\u03c9<\/a> in the present tense. This might have been translated \u201cto be lost,\u201d one of the possible meanings of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntgreek.org\/learn_nt_greek\/verbs1.htm#VOICE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">middle voice<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In other words, God&#8217;s judgment, <i>a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote29sym\" name=\"sdfootnote29anc\"><sup>29<\/sup><\/a> came on \u201cthose who are presently lost because they did not accept the love of the truth.\u201d <i>But even if our gospel is veiled<\/i>, Paul wrote the Corinthians, <i>it is veiled only to those who are perishing <\/i>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/apoll.html#apollumenois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03bb\u03bb\u03c5\u03bc\u1f73\u03bd\u03bf\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/apoll.html#apollumi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03bb\u03c5\u03bc\u03b9, \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03bb\u03c9, \u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03bb\u03bb\u03cd\u03c9<\/a>; KJV: <i>are lost<\/i>, presently), <i>among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe so they would not see<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote30sym\" name=\"sdfootnote30anc\"><sup>30<\/sup><\/a> <i>the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote31sym\" name=\"sdfootnote31anc\"><sup>31<\/sup><\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The interchangeability of <i>are perishing <\/i>and <i>are lost <\/i>is apparent in Jesus&#8217; parable (Luke 15:4 NET):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Which one of you, if he has a hundred sheep and loses <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/apole.html#apolesas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03bb\u1f73\u03c3\u03b1\u03c2<\/a>, another form of \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03bb\u03c5\u03bc\u03b9, \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03bb\u03c9, \u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03bb\u03bb\u03cd\u03c9)<\/em> one of them, would not leave the ninety-nine<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/05\/25\/the-day-of-the-lord-part-2\/#sdfootnote32sym\" name=\"sdfootnote32anc\"><sup>32<\/sup><\/a><\/em> in the open pasture and go look for the one that is lost <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/apolw.html#apolwlos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03bb\u03c9\u03bb\u1f78\u03c2<\/a>, another form of \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03bb\u03c5\u03bc\u03b9, \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03bb\u03bb\u03c9, \u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03bb\u03bb\u03cd\u03c9)<\/em> until he finds it?<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Here is none of the false counsel given to <a href=\"https:\/\/allnurseryrhymes.com\/little-bo-peep\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Little Bo Peep<\/a> in the nursery rhyme. Jesus (and his listeners apparently) knew that a <i>lost <\/i>sheep was a sheep in danger of <i>perishing<\/i>.
