It was followed by <span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lexicon\/h3374\/kjv\/wlc\/0-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u05d9\u0596\u05b4\u05e8\u05b0\u05d0\u05b8\u05bd\u05ea\u05b0\u05da\u05b8<\/a><\/span> (<i>yir&#8217;\u00e2<\/i>), which was translated <i>thy fear <\/i>in the Tanakh and KJV, and <i>your piety <\/i>in the NET. The translators of the Tanakh and KJV added <i>this <\/i>as well. The translators of the NET did not. H. H. Rowley (Job [NCBC], 46) says that on the lips of Eliphaz the word almost means \u201cyour religion.\u201d He refers to Moffatt\u2019s translation, \u201cLet your religion reassure you.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The next Hebrew word in this word string was <span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lexicon\/h3690\/kjv\/wlc\/0-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u05db\u05bc\u05b4\u05e1\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05ea\u05b6\u0591\u05da\u05b8<\/a><\/span> (<i>kisl\u00e2<\/i>). It was translated <i>thy confidence<\/i> (Tanakh, KJV) and <i>your confidence <\/i>(NET). But the rabbis who translated the Septuagint chose <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/en.html#en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03bd<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/afr.html#afrosunh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03c6\u03c1\u03bf\u03c3\u1f7b\u03bd\u1fc3<\/a>; <i>based on a lack of sense <\/i>(NETS), <i>[founded] in folly <\/i>(English Elpenor). But here, too, the rabbis who translated the Septuagint diverged from the English translation of the Masoretic text. Was <span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lexicon\/h3690\/kjv\/wlc\/0-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u05dc\u05b0\u05db\u05b4\u05e1\u05b0\u05dc\u05b8\u05bd\u05d4<\/a><\/span> (<i>kisl\u00e2<\/i>) the word they found in the Hebrew text they translated? Or perhaps more to the point, was the negative particle <span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lexicon\/h408\/kjv\/wlc\/0-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u05d5\u05b0\u05d0\u05b7\u05dc<\/a><\/span> (<i>&#8216;al<\/i>), translated <i>but let<\/i>&#8230;<i>not <\/i>(Tanakh\/KJV) or <i>Yet<\/i>&#8230;<i>must not <\/i>(NET), in the text they translated? Or was it added later? It could be. I&#8217;m also beginning to wonder if the translators of the Elpenor version simply chose to expose Eliphaz&#8217;s sarcasm, to make his accusation more explicit for the Greek reader.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The final Hebrew word in the word string that is Job 4:6 in the Masoretic text was <span style=\"font-family: Tahoma;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lexicon\/h1870\/kjv\/wlc\/0-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u05d3\u05bc\u05b0\u05e8\u05b8\u05db\u05b6\u05bd\u05d9\u05da\u05b8<\/a><\/span> (<i>dere\u1e35<\/i>). It was translated <i>of thy ways<\/i> (Tanakh, KJV) and <i>ways <\/i>(NET).
