href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/fr.html#fronimoi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c6\u03c1\u03cc\u03bd\u03b9\u03bc\u03bf\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/fr.html#fronimos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c6\u03c1\u03cc\u03bd\u03b9\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>; [<a <i>unaware<\/i> in Paul\u2019s revelation of that <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/06\/12\/pauls-religious-mind\/\">affliction<\/a> which was so integral a part of, if not the impetus for, the understanding that became his letter to the Romans:\u00a0 <i>For we do not want you to be unaware<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agn.html#agnoein\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03b3\u03bd\u03bf\u03b5\u1fd6\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agn.html#agnoew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03b3\u03bd\u03bf\u03ad\u03c9<\/a>), <i>brothers and sisters, regarding the affliction that happened <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/06\/12\/pauls-religious-mind\/#sdfootnote33sym\">to us<\/a> in the province of Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of living <\/i>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/08\/atonement-part-5\/#_Table4\">Table<\/a>]. \u00a0<i>Indeed we felt as if the sentence of death had been passed against us, so that we would not trust <\/i>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pep.html#pepoiqotes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b5\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03b8\u03cc\u03c4\u03b5\u03c2<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pei.html#peiqw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b5\u03af\u03b8\u03c9<\/a>) <i>in ourselves but in God who raises the dead<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/17\/romans-part-42\/#sdfootnote2sym\" name=\"sdfootnote2anc\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The word <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pep.html#pepoiqotes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b5\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03b8\u03cc\u03c4\u03b5\u03c2<\/a>, translated <i>trust<\/i> above, leads back to Paul\u2019s point in Romans (as articulated in his letter to Philippi): <i>Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of those who mutilate the flesh! \u00a0For we are the circumcision, the ones who worship by the Spirit <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/08\/15\/romans-part-12\/#sdfootnote17sym\">of God<\/a>, exult in Christ Jesus, and do not rely<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pep.html#pepoiqotes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b5\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03b8\u03cc\u03c4\u03b5\u03c2<\/a>, a form of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pei.html#peiqw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b5\u03af\u03b8\u03c9<\/a>) <i>on human credentials<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sa.html#sarki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03b1\u03c1\u03ba\u1f76<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sa.html#sarx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03ac\u03c1\u03be<\/a>)\u2026<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/17\/romans-part-42\/#sdfootnote3sym\" name=\"sdfootnote3anc\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 To translate <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sa.html#sarki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03b1\u03c1\u03ba\u1f76<\/a> as <i>human credentials<\/i> obscures more than it illuminates.<\/p>\n<p>The note (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Philippians+3:3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">6<\/a>) in the NET admits that the Greek reads, \u201chave no confidence in the flesh\u201d as it is translated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Philippians%203:3&amp;version=NKJV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NKJV<\/a>.\u00a0 Still, it seems to me that the most natural reading of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kai.html#kai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u1f76<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ou.html#ouk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bf\u1f50\u03ba<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/en.html#en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03bd<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sa.html#sarki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03b1\u03c1\u03ba\u1f76<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pep.html#pepoiqotes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b5\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03b8\u03cc\u03c4\u03b5\u03c2<\/a> would be \u201cand not by flesh persuaded\u201d or \u201cand not by persuasion of flesh.\u201d\u00a0 Paul was not concerned with human credentials, nor even an idolatry of self-worship, a confidence in the flesh, so much as the delusion of human flesh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esv.org\/verses\/Romans+9:14%E2%80%9316\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that righteousness comes by human efforts<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/Philippians+3:9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to keep God\u2019s laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><i>If someone thinks he has good reasons to put confidence<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pep.html#pepoiqenai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b5\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03b8\u03ad\u03bd\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pei.html#peiqw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b5\u03af\u03b8\u03c9<\/a>) <i>in human credentials<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sa.html#sarki\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03b1\u03c1\u03ba\u1f76<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sa.html#sarx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03ac\u03c1\u03be<\/a>), Paul continued, <i>I have more: \u00a0I was circumcised on the eighth day, from the people of Israel and the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews. \u00a0I lived according to the law as a Pharisee. \u00a0In my <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_ftn22\">zeal for God<\/a> I persecuted the church. \u00a0According to the righteousness stipulated in the law I was blameless <\/i>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_Table23\">Table<\/a>]. \u00a0<i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/05\/31\/the-book-of-life-part-3\/#sdfootnote25sym\">But<\/a> these assets I have come to regard as liabilities because of Christ <\/i>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2022\/05\/31\/the-book-of-life-part-3\/#_Table7\">Table<\/a>]. \u00a0<i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2024\/11\/26\/exploration-part-3\/#sdfootnote34sym\">More than that<\/a>, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things \u2013 indeed, I regard them as <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/01\/13\/romans-part-91\/#_ftn16\">dung<\/a>! \u2013 that I may gain Christ <\/i>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/01\/13\/romans-part-91\/#_Table6\">Table<\/a>]<i>, and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ\u2019s faithfulness \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/10\/15\/romans-part-25\/\">a righteousness from God<\/a> that is in fact based on Christ\u2019s faithfulness<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/17\/romans-part-42\/#sdfootnote4sym\" name=\"sdfootnote4anc\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>For I do not want you to be ignorant<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agn.html#agnoein\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03b3\u03bd\u03bf\u03b5\u1fd6\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agn.html#agnoew\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f00\u03b3\u03bd\u03bf\u03ad\u03c9<\/a>) <i>of this mystery<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mu.html#musthrion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bc\u03c5\u03c3\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>), <i>brothers and sisters<\/i>, Paul wrote in Romans.\u00a0 Paul\u2019s <i>mystery<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mu.html#musthrion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bc\u03c5\u03c3\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>) was Jesus\u2019 <i>secret<\/i> when He told his disciples, <i>The secret<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mu.html#musthrion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bc\u03c5\u03c3\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>) <i>of the kingdom of God has been given<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/17\/romans-part-42\/#sdfootnote5sym\" name=\"sdfootnote5anc\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a><i> to you.\u00a0 But to those outside, everything is in <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/04\/22\/religious-and-righteous-prayer\/\">parables<\/a> <\/i>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/11\/antichrist-part-1\/#_Table3\">Table<\/a>]<i>, so that<\/i> <b><i>although they look they may look but not see, and although they hear they may hear but not understand, so they may not repent and <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/11\/antichrist-part-1\/#sdfootnote6sym\">be forgiven<\/a><\/i><\/b><i>\u201d<\/i> [<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/11\/antichrist-part-1\/#_Table2\">Table<\/a>].<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/17\/romans-part-42\/#sdfootnote6sym\" name=\"sdfootnote6anc\"><sup>6<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>Israel failed to obtain <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/02\/23\/romans-part-40\/#sdfootnote20sym\">what<\/a> it was diligently seeking<\/i>, Paul had written earlier, <i>but the elect obtained it.\u00a0 The rest were hardened <\/i>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/02\/23\/romans-part-40\/#_Table24\">Table<\/a>]<i>, as it is written,<\/i> <b><i>\u201cGod gave them a <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/02\/23\/romans-part-40\/\">spirit of stupor<\/a><\/i><\/b><i>, <b>eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear<\/b>, <b>to this very day.\u201d<\/b><\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/17\/romans-part-42\/#sdfootnote7sym\" name=\"sdfootnote7anc\"><sup>7<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And Jesus was actively involved in fulfilling His Father\u2019s will.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_ftn2\">in<\/a> Christ <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_Table15\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. \u00a0For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we may be holy and unblemished in his sight in love. \u00a0He did this by predestining us to adoption as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will \u2013 to the praise of the glory of his grace <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_ftn3\">that<\/a> he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_Table16\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. \u00a0In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/06\/27\/is-sin-less-than-sin-part-3\/#sdfootnote3sym\">the riches<\/a> of his grace <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/06\/27\/is-sin-less-than-sin-part-3\/#_Table3\">Table<\/a>]<\/em> that he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight. \u00a0He did this when he revealed to us the secret <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mu.html#musthrion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bc\u03c5\u03c3\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>)<\/em> of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, toward the administration of the fullness of the times, to head up all things in Christ \u2013 the things <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_ftn4\">in<\/a> heaven and the things on <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_ftn5\">earth. \u00a0In Christ<\/a> we too have been claimed as God\u2019s own possession, since we were predestined according to the one purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, would be to the praise of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_ftn6\">his<\/a> glory <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/11\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-1\/#_Table17\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. \u00a0And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) \u2013 when you believed in Christ \u2013 you were marked with the seal of the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/04\/30\/the-holy-spirit-is-the-epaggelia-\u1f10\u03c0\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u03b5\u03bb\u03af\u03b1-of-the-father\/\">promised Holy Spirit<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/05\/26\/exploration-part-12\/#sdfootnote19sym\">who<\/a> is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of God\u2019s own possession, to the praise of his glory<em> [<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/05\/26\/exploration-part-12\/#_Table14\">Table<\/a>].<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" Israel are truly Israel<\/i>, Paul wrote earlier, <i>nor are all the children Abraham\u2019s true descendants; rather<\/i> \u201c<b><i>through Isaac will your descendants be counted<\/i><\/b>.\u201d<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/17\/romans-part-42\/#sdfootnote14sym\" name=\"sdfootnote14anc\"><sup>14<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 This seemed like a strong argument that <i>all Israel<\/i> cannot mean \u201call who are descended from Israel,\u201d until I put the verse back in context.\u00a0 <i>This means<\/i>, Paul continued, <i>it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God; rather, the children of promise are counted as descendants<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/04\/17\/romans-part-42\/#sdfootnote15sym\" name=\"sdfootnote15anc\"><sup>15<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So what promise did Paul have in noreferrer\">Jim Searcy<\/a> has published that the Septuagint is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moresureword.com\/LXXHOAX.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hoax<\/a> written by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Origen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Origen<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eusebius\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener
