rel=\"noopener\">\u1f41\u03c1\u03ac\u03c9<\/a>]\u00a0<i>and testify and announce to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us).<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote1sym\" name=\"sdfootnote1anc\"><sup>1<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0John, by making the <i>word of life<\/i>\u2014<i>what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and our hands have touched<\/i>\u2014equivalent to\u2014<i>the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us<\/i>\u2014has defined <i>eternal life<\/i> as something more than a future time without end.<\/p>\n<p>Eternal life is the Lord Jesus, the life He lived, <i>the righteousness that comes by way of\u00a0<\/i>[his]<i> faithfulness \u2013 a righteousness from God that is in fact based on Christ\u2019s faithfulness<\/i>,<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote2sym\" name=\"sdfootnote2anc\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a> and the love that is <i>the fulfillment of the law<\/i>,<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote3sym\" href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ew.html#ewrake\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f11\u03ce\u03c1\u03b1\u03ba\u03b5\u03bd<\/a>, another form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/or.html#oraw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f41\u03c1\u03ac\u03c9<\/a>) <i>the Father!<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote6sym\" name=\"sdfootnote6anc\"><sup>6<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>What we have seen <\/i>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ew.html#ewrakamen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f11\u03c9\u03c1\u03ac\u03ba\u03b1\u03bc\u03b5\u03bd<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/or.html#oraw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f41\u03c1\u03ac\u03c9<\/a>) <i>and heard we announce to you too, <\/i>John continued, <i>so that you may have fellowship with us (and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ). \u00a0Thus we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete<\/i>.\u00a0 <i>Now this is the gospel<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote7sym\" name=\"sdfootnote7anc\"><sup>7<\/sup><\/a> <i>message<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote8sym\" name=\"sdfootnote8anc\"><sup>8<\/sup><\/a><i> we have heard from him and announce to you<\/i>, John continued, <i>God is light, and in him there is no darkness <\/i>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sk.html#skotia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c4\u03af\u03b1<\/a>) <i>at all. \u00a0If we say we have fellowship with him and yet keep on walking in the darkness <\/i>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sk.html#skotia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03ba\u03cc\u03c4\u03b5\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sk.html#skotos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03ba\u03cc\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>)<i>, we are lying and not practicing the truth<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote9sym\" name=\"sdfootnote9anc\"><sup>9<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The reason the translators added <i>gospel<\/i> to the text above is quoted in a footnote below.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote10sym\" name=\"sdfootnote10anc\"><sup>10<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Jesus said, or John wrote, <i>light has<\/i> <i>come into the world and people loved the darkness<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/sk.html#skotos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c3\u03ba\u03cc\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>) <i>rather than the light, because their deeds were evil<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pon.html#ponhra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd\u03b7\u03c1\u1f70<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pon.html#ponhros\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd\u03b7\u03c1\u03cc\u03c2<\/a>; or, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/03\/01\/son-of-god-john-part-4\/\"><i>full of labours, annoyances, hardships<\/i><\/a>). \u00a0<i>For everyone who does evil<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/fa.html#faula\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c6\u03b1\u1fe6\u03bb\u03b1<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/fa.html#faulos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c6\u03b1\u1fe6\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>; or <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/03\/01\/son-of-god-john-part-4\/\"><i>ordinary<\/i>, or, <i>worthless<\/i><\/a>) <i>deeds hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds will not be exposed<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote11sym\" name=\"sdfootnote11anc\"><sup>11<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When I read the Bible and said, \u201cyea, verily, amen, Lord,\u201d and didn\u2019t believe what it said, I was walking in darkness.\u00a0 It was a foolish thing to do, considering the psalm, <i>O Lord, you examine me and know<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/07\/10\/jedidiah-part-4\/#_Table7\">[Table]<\/a>\u2026<i>even from far away you understand my motives<\/i> [<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/07\/10\/jedidiah-part-4\/#_Table9\">Table<\/a>].<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote12sym\" name=\"sdfootnote12anc\"><sup>12<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 I stepped into the light when I began to argue with Him.\u00a0 And I wasn\u2019t always reverent about it.\u00a0 But his Spirit was patient with me.\u00a0 He made me honest with Him, what I believed and what I didn\u2019t believe, and eventually with myself (which is not easy), and patient enough to wait for understanding, where I was wrong or had misunderstood his word (as opposed to running off, saying, \u201cnone of it is true,\u201d or, \u201cit means whatever you want\u201d).<\/p>\n<p><i>But if we walk in the light as he himself is in the light<\/i>, John continued, <i>we have fellowship with one another<\/i> [e.g., with others walking in the light] <i>and the blood of Jesus<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote13sym\" name=\"sdfootnote13anc\"><sup>13<\/sup><\/a><i> his Son cleanses us from all sin<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote14sym\" name=\"sdfootnote14anc\"><sup>14<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0This is so important, Faith 101.\u00a0 It is equivalent in my mind to, <i>There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/10\/20\/psalm-22-part-5\/#_ftn27\">Jesus<\/a><\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote15sym\" name=\"sdfootnote15anc\"><sup>15<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/09\/18\/romans-part-17\/\">Honesty<\/a> is impossible apart from this knowledge.\u00a0 Walking in darkness I wasn\u2019t such a bad guy.\u00a0 In the light I discovered how sinful the sin in my flesh actually is, and I mourned.\u00a0 Walking deeper into the light I discovered how corrupt my righteousness is, and I grieved.<\/p>\n<p><i>If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. \u00a0But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness. \u00a0If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us. \u00a0(My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.) \u00a0But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous One, and he himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for our sins but also for the whole world<\/i>.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/05\/06\/son-of-god-1-john-part-1\/#sdfootnote16sym\"
