For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/10\/20\/psalm-22-part-5\/#_ftn16\">you are<\/a> fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/10\/20\/psalm-22-part-5\/#_Table9\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/10\/20\/psalm-22-part-5\/#_ftn17\">the<\/a> whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/10\/20\/psalm-22-part-5\/#_Table10\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. The second instance of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/eir.html#eirhnhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b5\u1f30\u03c1\u03ae\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd<\/a> is absent from the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/10\/20\/psalm-22-part-5\/#_Table8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Byzantine Majority Text<\/a>. If I adopt <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maurice_A._Robinson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maurice Robinson&#8217;s<\/a> \u201cview,\u201d that the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/08\/24\/exploration-part-15\/#_MauriceRobinson\"><i>Byzantine Priority<\/i><\/a>&#8230;was the one that was considered the text from which the other text types or clusters derived over time,\u201d I get: \u201cAnd He came and preached peace to you, those far off (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/to.html#tois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u03bf\u1fd6\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mak.html#makran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bc\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u1f70\u03bd<\/a>) and those near (<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kai.html#kai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u1f76<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/to.html#tois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u03bf\u1fd6\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/egg.html#eggus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03b3\u03cd\u03c2<\/a>).\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>And one of the scribes came up and heard <\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark%2012:18-27&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jesus and the Sadducees<\/a><i> disputing with one another<\/i>, <i>and <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn8\">seeing<\/a> that he answered them well, asked him<\/i> (Mark 12:28-34 ESV):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cWhich commandment is the most important <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn9\">of all<\/a>?\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn10\">Jesus<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn11\">answered<\/a>, \u201cThe most <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn12\">important<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn13\">is<\/a>, \u2018Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/08\/atonement-part-5\/#_Table15\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn14\">strength<\/a>\u2019<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote3sym\" name=\"sdfootnote3anc\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a> [<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/08\/atonement-part-5\/#_Table17\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn15\">The<\/a> second <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn16\">is<\/a> this: \u2018You shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote4sym\" name=\"sdfootnote4anc\"><sup>4<\/sup><\/a><\/em> There is no other commandment greater than these.\u201d And the scribe said to him, \u201cYou are right, Teacher <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/kal.html#kalws\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u1ff6\u03c2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/did.html#didaskale\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03b4\u1f71\u03c3\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03b5<\/a>)<\/em>. You have truly <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn17\">said<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn18\">he<\/a> is one, and there is no other besides him. And to love him with all the heart and with all the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn19\">understanding<\/a> and with all the strength, and to love one\u2019s neighbor as oneself, is much <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/01\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-2\/#_ftn20\">more<\/a> than all whole burnt offerings and <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/08\/30\/isaiah-5310-12-part-1\/#_ftn10\">sacrifices<\/a>\u201d <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/09\/08\/atonement-part-5\/#_Table16\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, \u201cYou are not far <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ou.html#ou\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bf\u1f50<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mak.html#makran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bc\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u1f70\u03bd<\/a>)<\/em> from the kingdom of God.\u201d And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Earlier in the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> chapter of his letter to the Ephesians, Paul applied the concept <i>far off<\/i> to <i>the Gentiles by means of the flesh, those called foreskin<\/i>, and the concept <i>near<\/i> to <i>those called the circumcision (by means of flesh made by hand)<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Therefore remember that at one time you, the Gentiles by means of the flesh, those called foreskin by those called the circumcision (by means of flesh made by hand) since you were <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/08\/24\/exploration-part-15\/#sdfootnote17sym\">by<\/a> means of that time apart from Christ, had become an outsider of citizenship of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope, and godless by means of the world <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/08\/24\/exploration-part-15\/#_Table2\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. But now by means of Christ Jesus you, who <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/06\/23\/exploration-part-14\/#_once\">at any time<\/a> are far off <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/mak.html#makran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bc\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u1f70\u03bd<\/a>)<\/em>, have come into existence near at hand <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/egg.html#eggus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03b3\u1f7a\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em> by means of Christ&#8217;s bloodshed.<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote5sym\" name=\"sdfootnote5anc\"><sup>5<\/sup><\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He recognized, however, that the more significant measure of <i>far off<\/i> and <i>near<\/i> was one&#8217;s affinity for the Word (Romans 10:5-13 ESV).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">For <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/08\/20\/romans-part-13\/#sdfootnote18sym\">Moses<\/a> writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote6sym\" name=\"sdfootnote6anc\"><sup>6<\/sup><\/a> [<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/08\/20\/romans-part-13\/#_Table27\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. But the righteousness based on faith says, \u201cDo not say in your heart,<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote7sym\" name=\"sdfootnote7anc\"><sup>7<\/sup><\/a><\/em> \u2018Who will ascend into heaven?\u2019\u201d<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote8sym\" name=\"sdfootnote8anc\"><sup>8<\/sup><\/a><\/em> (that is, to bring Christ down) \u201cor \u2018Who will descend into the abyss?\u2019\u201d<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote9sym\" name=\"sdfootnote9anc\"><sup>9<\/sup><\/a><\/em> (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? \u201cThe word is near <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/egg.html#eggus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03b3\u1f7b\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em> you, in your mouth and in your heart\u201d<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote10sym\" name=\"sdfootnote10anc\"><sup>10<\/sup><\/a><\/em> (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, \u201cEveryone who believes in him will not be put to shame.\u201d For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For \u201ceveryone <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pas.html#pas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u1fb6\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em> who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.\u201d<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote11sym\" name=\"sdfootnote11anc\"><sup>11<\/sup><\/a><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">One&#8217;s starting position as Gentile or Jew has little direct impact upon one&#8217;s affinity for the Word: <i>So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him<\/i>,<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote12sym\" name=\"sdfootnote12anc\"><sup>12<\/sup><\/a> John wrote. These were <i>those called the circumcision (by means of flesh made by hand)<\/i>. Not only that, they were those <i>who had believed <\/i>Jesus. The Greek words translated <i>who had believed<\/i> are <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/to.html#tous\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c4\u03bf\u1f7a\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pep.html#pepisteukotas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b5\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03c5\u03ba\u1f79\u03c4\u03b1\u03c2<\/a>, a participle of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/pi.html#pisteuw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03cd\u03c9<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntgreek.org\/learn_nt_greek\/verbs1.htm#TENSE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perfect tense<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The basic thought of the perfect tense is that the progress of an action has been completed and the results of the action are continuing on, in full effect&#8230;Unlike the English perfect, which indicates a completed past action, the Greek perfect tense indicates the continuation and present state of a completed past action.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote13sym\" name=\"sdfootnote13anc\"><sup>13<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In other words, their faith was in full operation as Jesus&#8217; spoke with them. Their status seems as <i>near<\/i> as anyone could imagine. Now consider their affinity for the Word as Jesus questions the value of their own estimations of their status (John 8:31-33 ESV): <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#_abide\">If you abide<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#_word\">in my word<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#_truly\">you are truly<\/a> my disciples, and <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#_know\">you will know the truth<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2024\/11\/02\/exploration-part-1\/#_free\">the truth will set you free<\/a>.\u201d They answered <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2024\/06\/26\/christ-centered-preaching-chapter-2\/#sdfootnote15sym\">him<\/a>, \u201cWe are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, \u2018You will become free\u2019?\u201d <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2024\/06\/26\/christ-centered-preaching-chapter-2\/#_Table3\">Table<\/a>]<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jesus described how one is <a href=\"https:\/\/netbible.org\/bible\/John+3:3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i>born from above<\/i><\/a>: <i>abide in my word<\/i>. He looked forward to the cross, and beyond the cross to Pentecost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2014%3A15-17&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">when the Holy Spirit would reside <b>in<\/b> them<\/a>, after He had created the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/12\/11\/exploration-part-16\/#_onenewman\"><i>one new man<\/i><\/a>. No, I don&#8217;t imagine that <i>the Jews who had believed him<\/i> (and continued in that faith) understood all of this at that particular moment. But the duplicity of their answer demonstrates that they realized He wasn&#8217;t talking about political freedom: <i>We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone<\/i>. The Roman occupation of Israel was not quite the same expression of the Lord&#8217;s anger as the Babylonian conquest and captivity of Judah (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2%20Kings%2024%3A20-25%3A26&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2 Kings 24:20-25:26<\/a>), but were they not Jews? Did they not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke%2020%3A19-26&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chafe under Roman rule<\/a>? I speak <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#sdfootnote14sym\">of what<\/a> I have seen with <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#sdfootnote15sym\">my<\/a> Father, and you do <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#sdfootnote16sym\">what you have heard<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#sdfootnote17sym\">your father<\/a>\u201d <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#_Table2\">Table<\/a>].<\/em> <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The <i>Jews who had believed him<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote22sym\" name=\"sdfootnote22anc\"><sup>22<\/sup><\/a> caught the drift of Jesus&#8217; words, even as they rejected their truth: <i>They answered <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#sdfootnote19sym\">him<\/a>, \u201cAbraham is our father.\u201d<\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote23sym\" name=\"sdfootnote23anc\"><sup>23<\/sup><\/a> So Jesus put a very fine point on the meaning of having Abraham as a father (John 8:39b-41a ESV).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Jesus said to them, \u201cIf <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#sdfootnote20sym\">you were<\/a> Abraham\u2019s children, you <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#sdfootnote21sym\">would<\/a> be doing the works Abraham did <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#_Table3\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>, but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. You are doing the works your father did\u201d <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#_Table4\">Table<\/a>].<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This is an opportune moment to reconsider the words Jesus spoke that <i>the Jews who had believed him<\/i> heard with faith (John 8:21b-30 ESV). <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u201cI am going away, and you will seek me, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew%207%3A12-14&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">you will die in your sin<\/a>. Where I am going, you cannot come.\u201d So the Jews said, \u201cWill he kill himself, since he says, \u2018Where I am going, you cannot come\u2019?\u201d He said<em><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote24sym\" name=\"sdfootnote24anc\"><sup>24<\/sup><\/a><\/em> to them, \u201cYou are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.\u201d So they said to him, \u201cWho are you?\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/02\/20\/to-make-holy-part-6\/#_ftn10\">Jesus<\/a> said to them, \u201cJust what I have been telling you from the beginning. I have much to say about you and much to judge, but he who sent me is true, and <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/02\/20\/to-make-holy-part-6\/#_ftn11\">I declare<\/a> to the world what I have heard from him\u201d <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/02\/20\/to-make-holy-part-6\/#_Table5\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. They did not understand that he had been speaking to them about the Father. So Jesus said to them, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John%2012%3A28-33&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">When you have lifted up<\/a> the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/01\/12\/who-am-i-part-11\/#_ftn7\">the<\/a> Father taught me <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/01\/12\/who-am-i-part-11\/#_Table4\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. And he who sent me is with me. <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/02\/08\/who-am-i-part-13\/#_ftn13\">He<\/a> has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him\u201d <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/02\/08\/who-am-i-part-13\/#_Table7\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. As he was saying these things <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ta.html#tauta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03a4\u03b1\u1fe6\u03c4\u03b1<\/a>)<\/em>, many believed in him.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>You are from below; I am from above<\/i>; <i>You are of this world; I am not of this world<\/i>, were some of the words <i>the Jews who had believed him<\/i> heard when they believed. Their defensive response to Jesus indicates that they grasped his meaning, at least in part (John 8:41b ESV).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#sdfootnote22sym\">They said<\/a> to him, \u201cWe were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father\u2014even God\u201d <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#_Table4\">Table<\/a>].<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So Jesus explained what it means to be born of God (John 8:42 ESV).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Jesus said to <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/04\/03\/exploration-part-10\/#sdfootnote23sym\">them<\/a>, \u201cIf God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/03\/19\/a-door-of-hope-part-2\/#_Table31\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Then He explained what it means to be <i>from below<\/i>, <i>of this world<\/i> (John 8:43-47 ESV).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_ftn9\">your<\/a> father the devil, and your will is to do <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/qe.html#qelete\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b8\u1f73\u03bb\u03b5\u03c4\u03b5<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/poi.html#poiein\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03b5\u1fd6\u03bd<\/a>; literally \u201cyou want to do\u201d)<\/em> your father\u2019s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_ftn10\">not<\/a> stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2019\/03\/18\/a-monotonous-cycle-revisited-part-2\/#_Table21\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which one of you convicts me of sin? <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_ftn23\">If<\/a> I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2020\/05\/15\/to-make-holy-part-8\/#_Table10\">Table<\/a>]<\/em> Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In other words, though they might be considered <i>near<\/i> as Jews,\u00a0their lack of affinity for the Word of God demonstrates how <i>far off<\/i> they actually were. This is the unbridgeable distance that makes the nearness of the circumcised relative to Gentiles relatively insignificant: <i>For He, He is our peace: <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2025\/12\/11\/exploration-part-16\/#_under_sin\">who has made the both one<\/a><\/i><a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/01\/29\/exploration-part-17\/#sdfootnote25sym\" name=\"sdfootnote25anc\"><sup>25<\/sup><\/a> (Romans 3:9-12 ESV):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, as it is written: \u201cNone is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God.
