A quick review follows (Ephesians 3:1-6 <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/03\/22\/exploration-part-18\/#_EXP18\">EXP18<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">By reason of this grace I, Paul, the captive of Christ Jesus for your sake, the nations\u2014assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God&#8217;s grace that was given to me for you (and by means of me unto you), how by revelation was made known to me the mystery, as I have written briefly, (which this you can read to perceive my insight into the mystery), which to other generations was not made known to the sons of men as now has been revealed by means of his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esv.org\/verses\/Matthew+28%3A18%E2%80%9320\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to become the nations<\/a>, fellow heirs and of the same body and partakers of the promise by means of Christ Jesus through the gospel.<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Paul continued (Ephesians 3:7-13 ESV):<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Of this gospel <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn3\">I was made<\/a> a minister according to the gift of God\u2019s grace, which <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn4\">was given<\/a> me by the working of his power. To me, though I am the very least of all <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn5\">the<\/a> saints, this grace was given, to preach <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn6\">to<\/a> the Gentiles <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn7\">the<\/a> unsearchable <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn8\">riches<\/a> of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn9\">plan<\/a> of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn10\">things<\/a> <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_Table17\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn11\">Christ<\/a> Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_ftn12\">access<\/a> with confidence through our faith in him <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_Table18\">Table<\/a>]<\/em>. So I ask you not <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/01\/11\/christianity-part-6\/#sdfootnote50sym\">to lose heart<\/a> over what I am suffering for you, which is your glory <em>[<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2023\/01\/11\/christianity-part-6\/#_Table15\">Table<\/a>].<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a id=\"_EXP19\"><\/a>The Greek is: <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ou.html#ou3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03bf\u1f57<\/a>, <i>Of this gospel<\/i> (literally \u201cOf which\u201d), <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ege.html#egenhqhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u1f75\u03b8\u03b7\u03bd<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/diak.html#diakonos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b4\u03b9\u1f71\u03ba\u03bf\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>, <i>I was made a minister<\/i>. The difference here between the critical texts (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.die-bibel.de\/en\/bible\/NA28\/EPH.3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NA<sup>28<\/sup><\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_Table17\">NET Parallel Greek<\/a>) and received texts (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2021\/09\/22\/the-lost-son-of-perdition-part-5\/#_Table17\">Stephanus Textus Receptus \/ Byzantine Majority Text<\/a>) may be worth pausing to mention. The critical texts had <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ege.html#egenhqhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u1f75\u03b8\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>, a passive form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/gi.html#ginomai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u03b3\u03af\u03bd\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>, <i>I was made<\/i> (ESV), where the received texts had <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ege.html#egenomhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u03cc\u03bc\u03b7\u03bd<\/a> in the middle voice (also translated <i>I was made<\/i> in the KJV). <\/span><\/p>\n<table border=\"1\" width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"4\">\n<tbody>\n<tr valign=\"TOP\">\n<td width=\"50%\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Passive Voice<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"50%\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Middle Voice<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"TOP\">\n<td width=\"50%\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Grammatical voice indicates whether the subject is the performer of the action of the verb (active voice), or the subject is the recipient of the action (passive voice). If the subject of the sentence is being acted upon, then the verb is referred to as being in the passive voice.<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">For example: &#8220;Jesus &#8230; was baptized by John in the Jordan&#8221; (Mark 1:9). &#8220;Jesus&#8221; is the subject of the sentence, but in this case He is being acted upon (i.e. He is the recipient of the action), therefore the verb is said to be in the &#8220;Passive Voice&#8221;.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/04\/26\/exploration-part-19\/#sdfootnote2sym\" name=\"sdfootnote2anc\"><sup>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<td width=\"50%\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The Greek middle voice shows the subject acting in his own interest or on his own behalf, or participating in the results of the verbal action. In overly simplistic terms, sometimes the middle form of the verb could be translated as &#8220;the performer of the action actually acting upon himself&#8221; (reflexive action).<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">For example: &#8220;I am washing myself.&#8221; &#8220;I&#8221; is the subject of the sentence (performing the action of the verb) and yet &#8220;I&#8221; am also receiving the action of the verb. This is said to be in the &#8220;Middle Voice&#8221;. Many instances in the Greek are not this obvious and cannot be translated this literally.<a class=\"sdfootnoteanc\" href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2026\/04\/26\/exploration-part-19\/#sdfootnote3sym\" name=\"sdfootnote3anc\"><sup>3<\/sup><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I found no <a href=\"https:\/\/biblehub.com\/ephesians\/3-7.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">English translations<\/a> that went full middle voice (reflexive action)\u2014\u201cI made myself\u201d\u2014but several were translated <i>I became<\/i>, including the NET (which was supposedly a translation of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ege.html#egenhqhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u1f75\u03b8\u03b7\u03bd<\/a> rather than <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/ege.html#egenomhn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u03cc\u03bc\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>. Calling the corruption of deceitful desires \u201cfree will\u201d bothers me. And \u201ccooperation\u201d can be misleading: <i>for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure<\/i> (Philippians 2:13 ESV).
