their tombs <i>to the resurrection resulting in<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblestudytools.com\/john\/5-29-compare.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">condemnation or judgment<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a> (\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03c3\u03b5\u03c9\u03c2, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2\">\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2<\/a>).\u00a0 My faith and my knowledge of God persuade me that <i>judgment<\/i> is the correct translation, but I can see how another\u2019s faith and knowledge might lean toward <i>condemnation<\/i> (Mark 16:14-16 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Then <em>[Jesus]<\/em> appeared to the eleven themselves, while they were eating, and he rebuked them for their unbelief <em>(\u1f00\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u1f77\u03b1\u03bd, a form of \u1f00\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03af\u03b1)<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03af\u03b1\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a> <\/em>and hardness of heart, because they did not believe <em>(\u1f10\u03c0\u1f77\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03c5\u03c3\u03b1\u03bd, a form of \u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03cd\u03c9)<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03cd\u03c9\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a> <\/em>those who had seen him resurrected.\u00a0 He said to them, \u201cGo into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.\u00a0 The one who believes <em>(\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u1f7b\u03c3\u03b1\u03c2, another form of \u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03cd\u03c9)<\/em> and is baptized will be saved, but the one who does not believe <em>(\u1f00\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u1f75\u03c3\u03b1\u03c2, a form of \u1f00\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03ad\u03c9)<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03ad\u03c9\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a> <\/em>will be condemned <em>(\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u03b9\u03b8\u1f75\u03c3\u03b5\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9, a form of \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03bd\u03c9).<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u03af\u03bd\u03c9\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Here, <i>the one who does not believe will be condemned<\/i>, clearly, without question.\u00a0 Is it wrong then to assume that John meant the same thing, but chose a less specific word to express it, and then correct or clarify his meaning in translation?\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure that I can say that it is.\u00a0 I can only say that my experience with God has taught me to pay more attention to the words as written.<\/p>\n<p>So who is He?\u00a0 Is He an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccel.org\/ccel\/edwards\/sermons.sinners.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">angry God<\/a> who barely restrains Himself from torturing sinners?\u00a0 Peter wrote, <i>The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient<\/i> (\u03bc\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u03bf\u03b8\u03c5\u03bc\u03b5\u1fd6, a form of \u03bc\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u03bf\u03b8\u03c5\u03bc\u03ad\u03c9)<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03bc\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u03bf\u03b8\u03c5\u03bc\u03ad\u03c9\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a> <i>toward you, because he does not wish<\/i> (\u03b2\u03bf\u03c5\u03bb\u1f79\u03bc\u03b5\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2, a form of \u03b2\u03bf\u03cd\u03bb\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9)<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b2\u03bf\u03cd\u03bb\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\"><sup>[9]<\/sup><\/a> <i>for any to perish but for all to come to repentance<\/i> (\u03bc\u03b5\u03c4\u1f71\u03bd\u03bf\u03b9\u03b1\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03bc\u03b5\u03c4\u03ac\u03bd\u03bf\u03b9\u03b1\">\u03bc\u03b5\u03c4\u03ac\u03bd\u03bf\u03b9\u03b1<\/a>).<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn10\"><sup>[10]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 That sounds reasonable since <i>God is love<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03b3\u03ac\u03c0\u03b7\">\u1f00\u03b3\u1f71\u03c0\u03b7<\/a>),<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn11\"><sup>[11]<\/sup><\/a> and <i>Love<\/i> (\u1f00\u03b3\u1f71\u03c0\u03b7) <i>is patient<\/i> (\u03bc\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u03bf\u03b8\u03c5\u03bc\u03b5\u1fd6, a form of \u03bc\u03b1\u03ba\u03c1\u03bf\u03b8\u03c5\u03bc\u03ad\u03c9).<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 And, He <i>by no means leaves the guilty unpunished<\/i>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So what do I mean as I pray daily, <i>may your will<\/i> (\u03b8\u03ad\u03bb\u03b7\u03bc\u03b1)<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b8\u03ad\u03bb\u03b7\u03bc\u03b1\"><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/a> <i>be done<\/i> (\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u03b7\u03b8\u1f75\u03c4\u03c9, a form of \u03b3\u03af\u03bd\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9; literally, <i>become<\/i>)<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b3\u03af\u03bd\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\"><sup>[15]<\/sup><\/a> <i>on <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/08\/13\/the-will-of-god-jesus-part-1\/#sdfootnote2sym\">earth<\/a> as it is in heaven<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn16\"><sup>[16]<\/sup><\/a>?\u00a0 Am I praying for the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/10\/27\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-2\/#_distribution\">equitable distribution of punishment<\/a> for sin according to the law?\u00a0 Or am I praying that God will satisfy the desire of his heart <i>for all to come to repentance<\/i>?\u00a0 I think I\u2019m praying for the latter, but I can\u2019t say that He didn\u2019t reveal Himself to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccel.org\/ccel\/edwards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Edwards<\/a> as an angry God who tortures sinners.\u00a0 I\u2019m saying that it would be disingenuous to assert that He has revealed Himself like that to me.<\/p>\n<p>So what about his salvation? \u00a0Is it a judgment (\u03ba\u03c1\u1f77\u03c3\u03b9\u03c2), a <i>separating<\/i> of the righteous from sinners?\u00a0 Or does it express the Lord\u2019s desire to populate the earth with people who will <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Mark+11:25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">forgive<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn17\"><sup>[17]<\/sup><\/a> the sins of others and <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Matthew+5:43\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">love their enemies<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn18\"><sup>[18]<\/sup><\/a> by his grace, filled with his love, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f10\u03b3\u03ba\u03c1\u03ac\u03c4\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03ba\u03c1\u1f71\u03c4\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn19\"><sup>[19]<\/sup><\/a> demonstrating not their own righteousness but his, enjoying what they do, filled with his joy and peace?\u00a0 Again, I think the latter is nearer the truth, but again, that is based entirely on my faith and my knowledge of God, as He has revealed Himself to me.\u00a0 Clearly, I\u2019m trying to know Someone whose <i>deeds are superior to<\/i> [my] <i>deeds and<\/i> [whose] <i>plans<\/i> [are] <i>superior to<\/i> [my] <i>plans<\/i>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn20\"><sup>[20]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/10\/03\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-1\/\">original question<\/a> ended: \u201cI hope the whole point is God\u2019s going to save everybody!\u00a0 Am I nuts???\u201d\u00a0 No, I don\u2019t think there is anything \u201cnuts\u201d about that hope.\u00a0 In fact, I know the questioner enough to know that this is the sincere hope of a gentle heart.\u00a0 I also know she was born into a religion in which most people believe that Jesus answered, \u201cYes,\u201d to the question, <i>\u201cLord, will only a few be saved?\u201d<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn21\"><sup>[21]<\/sup><\/a><i> <\/i>\u00a0But Jesus actually said, <i>\u201cExert<\/i> (\u1f00\u03b3\u03c9\u03bd\u1f77\u03b6\u03b5\u03c3\u03b8\u03b5; a form of \u1f00\u03b3\u03c9\u03bd\u03af\u03b6\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9)<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03b3\u03c9\u03bd\u03af\u03b6\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\"><sup>[22]<\/sup><\/a> <i>every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.\u201d<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn23\"><sup>[23]<\/sup><\/a><i>\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>A form of \u1f00\u03b3\u03c9\u03bd\u03af\u03b6\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9 was translated <i>fighting<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/John+18:36\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 18:36 NET<\/a>), <i>exercise<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/1+Corinthians+9:25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 Corinthians 9:25 NET<\/a>), <i>struggling<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Colossians+1:29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colossians 1:29<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Colossians+4:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">4:12 NET<\/a>), <i>struggle<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/1+Timothy+4:10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 Timothy 4:10 NET<\/a>), <i>compete<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/1+Timothy+6:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1 Timothy 6:12 NET<\/a>) and <i>competed<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/2+Timothy+4:7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2 Timothy 4:7 NET<\/a>).\u00a0 Returning to the marriage analogy of Romans 7, trying to bear fruit <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/07\/03\/is-sin-less-than-sin-part-4\/#_alone\">alone<\/a> is futile, seeking another than <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Romans+7:4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the One who was raised from the dead<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn24\"><sup>[24]<\/sup><\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/07\/03\/is-sin-less-than-sin-part-4\/#_hook-up\">sinful<\/a>, and lying there passively is no fun for anyone.\u00a0 Exercise, compete, struggle, fight, bearing fruit is important enough to do badly until one learns to do it right.<\/p>\n<p>Two things here: First, though it may seem like a <i><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Non_sequitur_(logic)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">non sequitur<\/a><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn25\"><sup>[25]<\/sup><\/a> to go directly to <i>spiritual fruit<\/i> from the word <i>saved<\/i>, most people who believe that Jesus answered <i>yes<\/i> to this question, believe it primarily because it confirms their observations that the <i>fruit <\/i>of salvation is lacking in many or most people around them.\u00a0 And secondly, though it may sound like I\u2019m reversing my position here, I have exercised, competed, struggled and fought to bear <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Galatians+5:22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fruit<\/a>, compelled by a God-given <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Matthew+5:6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hunger and thirst for righteousness<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn26\"><sup>[26]<\/sup><\/a> and empowered by the same power that <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Ephesians+1:15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">raised Jesus from the dead<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn27\"><sup>[27]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These essays are often about how wrongheaded I\u2019ve been in that exercise, competition, struggling and fighting.\u00a0 But if those mistakes were necessary to get from there to here, I would make them all again.\u00a0 If it is possible for someone to avoid some of my mistakes by reading about them, praise the Lord!\u00a0 If my writing discourages one from pursuing Christ and his righteousness, I apologize from the bottom of my heart!\u00a0 If my writing encourages one to wait passively rather than to <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Philippians+3:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pursue Christ<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Matthew+6:33\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his righteousness<\/a>, stop reading my writing and get to work making as many of your own mistakes as soon as possible!<\/p>\n<p>My dear Gentle Heart, though you have been harried and harassed by those who would make your heart harder, [you] <i>have competed<\/i> (\u1f20\u03b3\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03c3\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9, another form of \u1f00\u03b3\u03c9\u03bd\u03af\u03b6\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9) <i>well<\/i>\u2026[you] <i>have kept the faith!<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn28\"><sup>[28]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 And though you haven\u2019t budged in all these years, I want to consider at least the possibility of changing religions, to join with those who believe in universal salvation.\u00a0 The problem isn\u2019t finding both the hope and promise of universal salvation in Scripture.\u00a0 The problem is what to make of all the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/10\/27\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-2\/\">hell talk<\/a>\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn29\"><sup>[29]<\/sup><\/a> in the Bible if universal salvation is true.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_assumptions\"><\/a>I found a <a href=\"http:\/\/richardwaynegarganta.com\/Bible%20Threatenings%20Explained.htm#1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn30\"><sup>[30]<\/sup><\/a> that does a fairly effective job of eliminating \u201chell talk\u201d from the Bible.\u00a0 I admit I didn\u2019t read every word, just enough to grasp the basic assumptions: 1) \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b1\u1f30\u03ce\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2\"><sup>[31]<\/sup><\/a> does not mean <i><a href=\"http:\/\/richardwaynegarganta.com\/AION%20and%20AIONIOS.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eternal<\/a><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn32\"><sup>[32]<\/sup><\/a> but a dispensational age<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b1\u1f30\u03ce\u03bd\"><sup>[33]<\/sup><\/a>; 2) the book of Revelation was written before 70 A.D. so most of it refers to the fall of Jerusalem; and 3) punishment is not simply consequential but effectual in purging or purifying sin.<\/p>\n<p>The benefits of believing that \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2 does not mean <i>eternal<\/i> are obvious.\u00a0 <i>If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. \u00a0It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire<\/i>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn34\"><sup>[34]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 The Greek \u03c4\u1f78 \u03c0\u1fe6\u03c1 \u03c4\u1f78 \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd wouldn\u2019t mean <i>eternal fire<\/i> but \u201cfire for a dispensational age.\u201d\u00a0 The meaning isn\u2019t altered much.\u00a0 It would <i>\u201cThen he will say to those on his left, \u2018Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!\u2019\u201d<\/i><a \u03c4\u1f78 \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd wouldn\u2019t mean <i>into the eternal fire<\/i> but \u201cinto the fire of a dispensational age.\u201d\u00a0 The Greek \u03b5\u1f30\u03c2 \u03ba\u1f79\u03bb\u03b1\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd wouldn\u2019t mean <i>into eternal punishment<\/i> in, <i>\u201cAnd these will depart into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.\u201d<\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn36\"><sup>[36]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 But then, would \u03b5\u1f30\u03c2 \u03b6\u03c9\u1f74\u03bd \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd mean <i>into eternal life<\/i>?\u00a0 Here the potential cost of this assumption begins to come into focus.\u00a0 What becomes of Jesus\u2019 words to Nicodemus if \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd means \u201ca dispensational age\u201d (John 3:14-16 NET)?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Just as Moses <i>lifted up the serpent in the wilderness<\/i>, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life<em> (\u03b6\u03c9\u1f74\u03bd \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd)<\/em>.\u201d \u00a0For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life <em>(\u03b6\u03c9\u1f74\u03bd \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd).<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I\u2019ve placed a table of the benefits and potential costs of this assumption at the end of this essay.<\/p>\n<p>The assumption that Revelation was written before 70 A.D. is not mine, but is also one I don\u2019t know how to argue.\u00a0 Jesus certainly spoke before 70 A.D. and He certainly prophesied about the destruction of Jerusalem.\u00a0 Those prophecies confirmed Him as a prophet to be <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Deuteronomy+18:22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">feared<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn37\"><sup>[37]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/richardwaynegarganta.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Richard Wayne Garganta<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn38\"><sup>[38]<\/sup><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/richardwaynegarganta.com\/Bible%20Threatenings%20Explained.htm#1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a>:<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn39\"><sup>[39]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cChrist was\u2026referring to the coming destruction of Jerusalem and the elimination of the entire Jewish system in 70 AD &#8211; the end of the age\u2026at the end of the Jewish age when severe judgments were to come, the angels or messengers to execute God&#8217;s judgments would separate Christians from others.\u00a0 The bad were to suffer in the furnace of fire which was the burning city of Jerusalem.\u00a0 The evil were also to perish in Gehenna [\u03b3\u03b5\u1f73\u03bd\u03bd\u1fc3].<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b3\u03ad\u03b5\u03bd\u03bd\u03b1\"><sup>[40]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Gehenna in many Bibles is wrongly interpreted &#8216;hell&#8217;.\u00a0 Gehenna was the garbage dump, the incinerator outside Jerusalem where the \u2018fire was never quenched and the worm didn&#8217;t die.\u2019\u00a0 This was because garbage and the bodies of criminals were thrown there to be burned.\u00a0 This is exactly what happened during the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But does that mean that Jesus only prophesied about the destruction of Jerusalem?\u00a0 Consider his warning to his disciples that religious people would defame them and accuse them of evil, just as they accused Him of being <i><a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Matthew+10:24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Beelzebul<\/a><\/i>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn41\"><sup>[41]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <i>Do not be afraid of them<\/i>, He counseled, <i>for nothing is hidden that will not be revealed<\/i>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn42\"><sup>[42]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <i>For the creation eagerly waits for the revelation of the sons of God<\/i>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn43\"><sup>[43]<\/sup><\/a> Paul wrote the Romans.\u00a0 <i>Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul<\/i> (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c8\u03c5\u03c7\u03ae\">\u03c8\u03c5\u03c7\u1f74\u03bd<\/a>),<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn44\"><sup>[44]<\/sup><\/a> Jesus continued, speaking of those religious defamers from verse 25 and perhaps expanding his comments to others as well.\u00a0 <i>Instead<\/i>, He continued, <i>fear the one who is able to destroy both soul <\/i>(\u03c8\u03c5\u03c7\u1f74\u03bd) <i>and body in hell<\/i> (\u03b3\u03b5\u1f73\u03bd\u03bd\u1fc3).<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn45\"><sup>[45]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If I limit the meaning of \u03b3\u03b5\u1f73\u03bd\u03bd\u1fc3 here to \u201cthe garbage dump, the incinerator outside Jerusalem,\u201d who was Jesus telling his disciples to fear?\u00a0 Roman soldiers? because the cremation of a corpse <i>is able to destroy both soul and body<\/i>?\u00a0 Was He reassuring them about their <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Matthew+10:29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">value above many sparrows<\/a>, that the <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Matthew+10:31\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Father\u2019s will<\/a> protected their corpses from cremation? \u00a0<i>For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul<\/i> (\u03c8\u03c5\u03c7\u1f74\u03bd)<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/04\/14\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-6\/#_ftn46\"><sup>[46]<\/sup><\/a> by being cremated after his death?\u00a0 And what about immolation?\u00a0 Again it seems to me that eliminating hell from the equation is a potentially costly enterprise.<\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t say for certain whether \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2 means <i>eternal<\/i> or <i>a dispensational age<\/i> only.\u00a0 I can only say I don\u2019t want to <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Romans+14:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stand before<\/a> Jesus pretending that I can.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know whether Revelation was written before 70 A.D. or not.\u00a0 I only know that I won\u2019t stand before Jesus and tell Him to his face that He could not mean that \u03b3\u03b5\u1f73\u03bd\u03bd\u1fc3 is a place of \u03ba\u1f79\u03bb\u03b1\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd \u03b1\u1f30\u1f7d\u03bd\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd (Hebrews 4:13 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2026no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>None of this is to say anything against Richard Wayne Garganta.\u00a0 I don\u2019t doubt his sincerity, only mine if I were
