instruction, not just one teaching recalled two different ways.\u00a0 In the sermon on the mount recorded by Matthew Jesus, unbidden, taught his listeners how to pray in distinction to how Gentiles (\u1f10\u03b8\u03bd\u03b9\u03ba\u03bf\u1f77, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f10\u03b8\u03bd\u03b9\u03ba\u03cc\u03c2\">\u1f10\u03b8\u03bd\u03b9\u03ba\u03cc\u03c2<\/a>) prayed.\u00a0 On another occasion recorded by Luke a disciple asked Jesus to teach them to pray just as (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03ba\u03b1\u03b8\u03ce\u03c2\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03b8\u1f7c\u03c2<\/a>) John the Baptist taught his disciples to pray.\u00a0 And I assume that means John the Baptist taught his disciples how to pray, not that Jesus\u2019 disciple wanted to learn the words that John taught his disciples to pray from \u03bf\u1f50\u03c1\u03b1\u03bd\u03bf\u1fd6\u03c2) recorded by Matthew and <em>Father<\/em> (\u03a0\u1f71\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1) recorded by Luke.\u00a0 I don\u2019t assume that Jesus told the larger congregation on the mount to pray to \u03a0\u1f71\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1 \u1f21\u03bc\u1ff6\u03bd \u1f41 \u1f10\u03bd \u03c4\u03bf\u1fd6\u03c2 \u03bf\u1f50\u03c1\u03b1\u03bd\u03bf\u1fd6\u03c2 and then turned around and informed the more intimate group of his disciples to pray each to his own biological \u03a0\u1f71\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1.\u00a0 Rather, I assume that Jesus expected the intimate group of his disciples to understand \u03a0\u1f71\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1 as \u03a0\u1f71\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1 \u1f21\u03bc\u1ff6\u03bd \u1f41 \u1f10\u03bd \u03c4\u03bf\u1fd6\u03c2 href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/06\/26\/prayer\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a> that portion of Christ who <em>lives in me<\/em>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/06\/26\/prayer\/#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a> the <em>fruit of the Spirit<\/em>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/06\/26\/prayer\/#_ftn7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a> the <em>credited<\/em> righteousness of God,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/06\/26\/prayer\/#_ftn8\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a> sufficient as far as it depends on me to do the will of God on earth as it is done in heaven to bring forth the kingdom of God to honor his name. \u00a0And though I used myself as an example\u2014\u201cas far as it depends on me\u201d\u2014the prayer He taught us to pray is not for me alone, but for all who call or have called or will call on <em>our Father in heaven<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The differences\u2014\u03b4\u1f78\u03c2 \u1f21\u03bc\u1fd6\u03bd \u03c3\u1f75\u03bc\u03b5\u03c1\u03bf\u03bd, and \u03b4\u1f77\u03b4\u03bf\u03c5 \u1f21\u03bc\u1fd6\u03bd \u03c4\u1f78 \u03ba\u03b1\u03b8\u1fbf \u1f21\u03bc\u1f73\u03c1\u03b1\u03bd\u2014seem inconsequential.\u00a0 The Greek words \u03b4\u1f78\u03c2 and \u03b4\u1f77\u03b4\u03bf\u03c5 are different forms of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b4\u03af\u03b4\u03c9\u03bc\u03b9\">\u03b4\u03af\u03b4\u03c9\u03bc\u03b9<\/a>, <em>to give<\/em>.\u00a0 The Greek <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c3\u03ae\u03bc\u03b5\u03c1\u03bf\u03bd\">\u03c3\u1f75\u03bc\u03b5\u03c1\u03bf\u03bd<\/a> means <em>today<\/em>, <em>this day<\/em>; \u03ba\u03b1\u03b8\u1fbf (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03ac\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03ac<\/a>) is defined: \u201c1) down from, through out 2) according to, toward, along,\u201d and was translated <em>each<\/em>, while \u1f21\u03bc\u1f73\u03c1\u03b1\u03bd (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f21\u03bc\u03ad\u03c1\u03b1\">\u1f21\u03bc\u03ad\u03c1\u03b1<\/a>) means <em>day<\/em>.\u00a0 If any difference is worth mentioning it is simply that Jesus counseled the intimate group of his disciples to expect this <em><a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Romans+5:17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener The reading without this sentence, though, is attested by generally better witnesses (\u05d0 B D Z 0170 \u00cb<sup>1<\/sup> pc lat mae Or). The phrase was probably composed for the liturgy of the early church and most likely was based on 1 Chr 29:11-13; a scribe probably added the phrase at this point in the text for use in public scripture reading (see <\/em>TCGNT<em> 13-14). These disciples have not done anything deserving special commendation or praise (L&amp;N 33.361), but only what would normally be expected of a slave in such a situation (thus the translation \u2018we have only done what was our duty\u2019).\u201d\u00a0 But they did translate \u1f00\u03c7\u03c1\u03b5\u1fd6\u03bf\u03bd (another form of \u1f00\u03c7\u03c1\u03b5\u1fd6\u03bf\u03c2) <em>worthless<\/em> in \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Matthew+25:14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Parable of the Talents<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The worthless slave was given a talent, equivalent to 6,000 denarii according to a footnote.\u00a0 In Matthew 20:2 day laborers agreed to work a day in the field for a denarius.\u00a0 If I assume a six day work week there are 312 working days in a year, and so 6,000 divided by 312 equals 19.23 years, almost 19 years and three months of a day laborers pay.<\/p>\n<p>The worthless slave did no business with his master\u2019s money, nor did he invest it with others who might have done so.\u00a0 <em>I was afraid<\/em>, he said, <em>and I went and hid your talent in the ground. \u00a0See, you have what is yours<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/06\/26\/prayer\/#_ftn12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0So he was fired, as any of us might fire a worthless employee.\u00a0 But when we have <em>done everything<\/em> [we] <em>were commanded to do<\/em>, why should we still consider ourselves worthless slaves?<\/p>\n<p>I think it is because <em>everything<\/em> we <em>have done<\/em> has <em>been done in God<\/em>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/06\/26\/prayer\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a> <em>for the one bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort \u2013 for the sake of his good pleasure \u2013 is God<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/06\/26\/prayer\/#_ftn14\"><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 As David prayed, <em>who am I and who are my people, that we should be in a position to contribute this much?
