(translated <em>office<\/em> in the ASV) can signify an office of apostle established prior to (or, apart from) Peter\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/10\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-1\/\">questionable rule<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Acts+1:21\" target=\"_blank\">Acts 1:21, 22 (NET)<\/a>.\u00a0 The Hebrew word is <em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_peq\u00fbdd\u00e2h\">p<sup>e<\/sup>q\u00fbdd\u00e2h<\/a><\/em> in his <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Acts+1:20\" target=\"_blank\">quotation<\/a> from Psalm 109:8b (ASV): <em>And let another take his office<\/em> (NIV: <em>place of leadership<\/em>; NET: <em>job<\/em>). \u00a0The first occurrence of <em>p<sup>e<\/sup>q\u00fbdd\u00e2h<\/em> is in Numbers: <em>Now the head of all the Levitical leaders was Eleazar son of Aaron the priest. \u00a0He was appointed over<\/em> (<em>p<sup>e<\/sup>q\u00fbdd\u00e2h<\/em>) <em>those who were responsible for the sanctuary<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/Bible.cfm?b=Num&amp;c=3&amp;t=LXX#s=120032\" target=\"_blank\">Septuagint<\/a>: <a href=\"http:\/\/nlp.perseus.tufts.edu\/hopper\/morph.jsp?l=kaqestame%2Fnos&amp;la=greek&amp;can=kaqestame%2Fnos0&amp;prior=de%5C\" target=\"_blank\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03b8\u03b5\u03c3\u03c4\u03b1\u03bc\u1f73\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.perseus.tufts.edu\/hopper\/morph?l=fula%2Fssein&amp;la=greek&amp;prior=dei= \" target=\"_blank\">\u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u1f71\u03c3\u03c3\u03b5\u03b9\u03bd<\/a> \u03c4\u1f70\u03c2 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.perseus.tufts.edu\/hopper\/morph?l=fu%2Flakas&amp;la=greek&amp;prior=%5D\" target=\"_blank\">\u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03ba\u1f70\u03c2<\/a> \u03c4\u1ff6\u03bd <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f05\u03b3\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2\">\u1f01\u03b3\u1f77\u03c9\u03bd<\/a>; literally, \u201cset down to keep watch [or, form into tribes] the watchers [or, those watching] of the holy [<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Acts+26:10\" target=\"_blank\">Acts 26:10 (NET)<\/a> <em>of the saints<\/em>]).<\/p>\n<p>The <em>p<sup>e<\/sup>q\u00fbdd\u00e2h<\/em> of Eleazer in Hebrew clearly referenced those who carried around, set up and tore down the items that made up the Tabernacle: <em>The appointed<\/em> (<em>p<sup>e<\/sup>q\u00fbdd\u00e2h<\/em>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/Bible.cfm?b=Num&amp;c=3&amp;t=LXX#s=120036\" target=\"_blank\">Septuagint<\/a>, \u1f21 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.perseus.tufts.edu\/hopper\/morph?l=e%29pi%2Fskeyis&amp;la=greek&amp;can=e%29pi%2Fskeyis0\" target=\"_blank\">\u1f10\u03c0\u1f77\u03c3\u03ba\u03b5\u03c8\u03b9\u03c2<\/a> \u1f21 <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.epicurus.info\/iurl\/index.php?title=Template:GED:%CF%86%CF%85%CE%BB%CE%B1%CE%BA%E1%BD%B4\" target=\"_blank\">\u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03ba\u1f74<\/a>)<em> responsibilities of the Merarites included the frames of the tabernacle, its crossbars, its posts, its sockets, its utensils, plus all the service connected with these things, and the pillars of the courtyard all around, with their sockets, their pegs, and their ropes<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>The appointed responsibility<\/em> (<em>p<sup>e<\/sup>q\u00fbdd\u00e2h<\/em>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/Bible.cfm?b=Num&amp;c=4&amp;t=LXX#s=121016\" target=\"_blank\">Septuagint<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2\">\u1f10\u03c0\u1f77\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>) <em>of Eleazar son of Aaron the priest is for the oil for the light, and the spiced incense, and the daily grain offering, and the anointing oil; he also has the appointed responsibility<\/em> (<em>p<sup>e<\/sup>q\u00fbdd\u00e2h<\/em>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/Bible.cfm?b=Num&amp;c=4&amp;t=LXX#s=121016\" target=\"_blank\">Septuagint<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03ae\">\u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u1f74<\/a>) <em>over all the tabernacle with all that is in it, over the sanctuary and over all its furnishings<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Though the word \u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u1f74\u03bd doesn\u2019t occur in the Greek translation of Numbers 3:32 in the Septuagint, \u201ca watcher of the watchers of the holy (or, saints)\u201d sounds very much like what <a href=\"http:\/\/www.endtime-prophets.com\/statement.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ms. Eldridge<\/a> feared a contemporary apostle <a href=\"http:\/\/www.endtime-prophets.com\/noproph.html\" target=\"_blank\">would do<\/a>.\u00a0 This is especially true if I consider that in the New Testament \u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03ba\u1f70\u03c2 had a dual meaning.\u00a0 There was the benign meaning: <em>Now there were shepherds nearby living out in the field, keeping guard<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u03ac\u03c3\u03c3\u03c9\">\u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u1f71\u03c3\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd\u03c4\u03b5\u03c2<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03ba\u03ae\">\u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03ba\u1f70\u03c2<\/a>) <em>over their flock at night<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 And there was a less benign meaning: <em>they will seize you and persecute you, handing you over to the synagogues and prisons<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn5\" name=\"_ftnref5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a> (\u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03ba\u1f71\u03c2). \u00a0<em>I persecuted this Way<\/em>, Paul confessed, <em>even to the point of death, tying up both men and women and putting them in prison<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn6\" name=\"_ftnref6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a> (\u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03ba\u1f70\u03c2).<\/p>\n<p>In 1 Timothy \u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u1fc6\u03c2 was translated <em>to the office of overseer<\/em> (NET, but a <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/1+Timothy+3:1\" target=\"_blank\">footnote<\/a> acknowledged that the Greek is \u201cto oversight\u201d). \u00a0<em>This saying is trustworthy: \u201cIf someone aspires to the office of overseer<\/em> (\u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u1fc6\u03c2, another form of \u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03ae), <em>he desires a good work.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn7\" name=\"_ftnref7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0The word translated <em>aspires<\/em> is \u1f40\u03c1\u1f73\u03b3\u03b5\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f40\u03c1\u03ad\u03b3\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\">\u1f40\u03c1\u03ad\u03b3\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>) and <em>desires<\/em> is \u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03b8\u03c5\u03bc\u03b5\u1fd6 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03b8\u03c5\u03bc\u03ad\u03c9\">\u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03b8\u03c5\u03bc\u03ad\u03c9<\/a>), but good is \u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03bf\u1fe6 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03cc\u03c2\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03cc\u03c2<\/a>).\u00a0 It is a <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/12\/22\/my-reasons-and-my-reason-part-6\/#_beautiful\">beautiful good<\/a> work as opposed to a <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/12\/22\/my-reasons-and-my-reason-part-6\/#_pious\">pious good<\/a> work, the \u03c6\u03c5\u03bb\u03b1\u03ba\u1f70\u03c2 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/12\/22\/my-reasons-and-my-reason-part-6\/#_shepherd\">beautiful shepherd<\/a> as opposed to that of the prison guard.\u00a0 What follows then is the legislation that creates the <em>office of overseer <\/em>(or, oversight), the qualifications of the \u1f10\u03c0\u1f77\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd (1 Timothy 3:2-7 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The overseer <em>(\u1f10\u03c0\u1f77\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd, a form of \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2)<\/em> then must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, an able teacher, not a drunkard, not violent, but gentle, not contentious, free from the love of money. \u00a0He must manage his own household well and keep his children in control without losing his dignity. \u00a0But if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for the church of God? \u00a0He must not be a recent convert or he may become arrogant and fall into the punishment that the devil will exact. \u00a0And he must be well thought of by those outside the faith, so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil\u2019s trap.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>If these men die the common death of all men<\/em>, Moses said of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/09\/25\/fear-numbers-part-4\/\">Korah, Dathan, and Abiram<\/a>, <em>or if they be visited<\/em> (<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_p\u00e2qad\">p\u00e2qad<\/a><\/em>) <em>after the visitation<\/em> (<em>p<sup>e<\/sup>q\u00fbdd\u00e2h<\/em>) <em>of all men;\u00a0then the LORD hath not sent me<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn8\" name=\"_ftnref8\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 The Greek word \u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03ae also carries this idea of <em>visitation<\/em>.\u00a0 <em>If you had only known on this day<\/em>, Jesus wept and prophesied over Jerusalem<em>, even you, the things that make for peace!\u00a0 But now they are hidden from your eyes. \u00a0For the days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and surround you and close in on you from every side. \u00a0They will demolish you \u2013 you and your children within your walls \u2013 and they will not leave within you one stone on top of another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation<\/em> (\u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u1fc6\u03c2, another form of \u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03ae) <em>from God<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn9\" name=\"_ftnref9\"><sup>[9]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0<em>I urge you<\/em>, Peter wrote, <em>as foreigners and exiles to keep away from fleshly desires that do battle against the soul, and maintain good conduct among the non-Christians<\/em> (\u1f14\u03b8\u03bd\u03b5\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f14\u03b8\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2\">\u1f14\u03b8\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>), <em>so that though they now malign you as wrongdoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God when he appears<\/em> (\u1f10\u03bd <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f21\u03bc\u03ad\u03c1\u03b1\">\u1f21\u03bc\u1f73\u03c1\u1fb3<\/a> \u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u1fc6\u03c2, KJV and ASV, <em>in the day of visitation<\/em>).<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn10\" name=\"_ftnref10\"><sup>[10]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Taken together I would say that the itinerant <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2<\/a> is an \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2, one who fills the \u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u1fc6\u03c2, the office of overseer clearly authorized by legislation in 1 Timothy 3:2-7.\u00a0 What is not at all clear is that the \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2 is necessarily an \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2.\u00a0 <em>Watch out for yourselves<\/em>,\u00a0 Paul said to the elders (\u03c0\u03c1\u03b5\u03c3\u03b2\u03c5\u03c4\u1f73\u03c1\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2, a form of \u03c0\u03c1\u03b5\u03c3\u03b2\u03cd\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03bf\u03c2) of the church at Ephesus,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn11\" name=\"_ftnref11\"><sup>[11]<\/sup><\/a> <em>and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers<\/em> (\u1f10\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03ba\u1f79\u03c0\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2, another form of \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2), <em>to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn12\" name=\"_ftnref12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Does that sound like Paul was addressing fellow apostles?\u00a0 Or was he functioning as a watcher of the watchers of the saints?\u00a0 I\u2019m prepared to say that a \u03c0\u03c1\u03b5\u03c3\u03b2\u03cd\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03bf\u03c2 is an \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2, but is he an \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2?<\/p>\n<p>By the way, the word <em>Son<\/em> was added by the translators.\u00a0 The Greek is \u03b4\u03b9\u1f70\u00a0\u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6\u00a0\u03b1\u1f35\u03bc\u03b1\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2\u00a0\u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6\u00a0\u1f30\u03b4\u1f77\u03bf\u03c5.\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Acts+20:28\" target=\"_blank\">note<\/a> in the NET reads: \u201cOr \u2018with his own blood\u2019; <em>Grk<\/em> \u2018with the blood of his own.\u2019\u00a0 The genitive construction could be taken in two ways: (1) as an attributive genitive (second attributive position) meaning \u2018his own blood\u2019; or (2) as a possessive genitive, \u2018with the blood of his own.\u2019\u00a0 In this case the referent is the Son, and the referent has been specified in the translation for clarity.\u00a0 See further C. DeVine, \u2018The Blood of God,\u2019 <em>CBQ<\/em> 9 (1947): 381-408.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A \u03c0\u03c1\u03b5\u03c3\u03b2\u03cd\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03bf\u03c2 is an \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2 who could be appointed by men like Titus (Titus 1:5-9 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The reason I left you in Crete was to set in order the remaining matters and to appoint elders <em>(\u03c0\u03c1\u03b5\u03c3\u03b2\u03c5\u03c4\u1f73\u03c1\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2, a form of \u03c0\u03c1\u03b5\u03c3\u03b2\u03cd\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03bf\u03c2)<\/em> in every town, as I directed you. \u00a0An elder must be blameless, the husband of one wife, with faithful children who cannot be charged with dissipation or rebellion. \u00a0For the overseer<em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn13\" name=\"_ftnref13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a> (\u1f10\u03c0\u1f77\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd, a form of \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2)<\/em> must be blameless as one entrusted with God\u2019s work, not arrogant, not prone to anger, not a drunkard, not violent, not greedy for gain. \u00a0Instead he must be hospitable, devoted to what is good, sensible, upright, devout, and self-controlled <em>(\u1f10\u03b3\u03ba\u03c1\u03b1\u03c4\u1fc6, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u1f10\u03b3\u03ba\u03c1\u03b1\u03c4\u03ae\u03c2\">\u1f10\u03b3\u03ba\u03c1\u03b1\u03c4\u03ae\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em>. \u00a0He must hold firmly to the faithful message as it has been taught, so that he will be able to give exhortation in such healthy teaching and correct those who speak against it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yet Peter called the glorified Christ an \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2: <em>For you were <strong>going astray like sheep<\/strong> but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian<\/em> (\u1f10\u03c0\u1f77\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd, a form of \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2) <em>of your souls<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn14\" name=\"_ftnref14\"><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 It would be handy to ignore the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/10\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-1\/\">circumstances<\/a> of Peter\u2019s legislation and consider an \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2 a special class of \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2 as he described him (Acts 1:21, 22 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2026one of the men who have accompanied <em>(\u03c3\u03c5\u03bd\u03b5\u03bb\u03b8\u1f79\u03bd\u03c4\u03c9\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u03c3\u03c5\u03bd\u03ad\u03c1\u03c7\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\">\u03c3\u03c5\u03bd\u03ad\u03c1\u03c7\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>)<\/em> us during all the time the Lord Jesus associated with us, beginning from his baptism by John until the day he was taken up from us\u2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While I think that an \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2 is a special class of \u1f10\u03c0\u03af\u03c3\u03ba\u03bf\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2, I\u2019m not convinced these words establish the class.\u00a0 Paul was not one of the men who accompanied the disciples <em>beginning from his baptism by John until the day he was taken up from<\/em> them, but he clearly claimed to be an \u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2 in his signature at the beginning of the letter to the Romans (Romans 1:1 NET): <em>From Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle<\/em> (\u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2), <em>set apart for the gospel of God<\/em>.\u00a0 Yet Paul admitted that his apostleship was questioned by some (1 Corinthians 9:1, 2 NET): <em>Am I not free?\u00a0 Am I not an apostle <\/em>(\u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2)?\u00a0 <em>Have I not seen Jesus our Lord?\u00a0 Are you not my work in the Lord? \u00a0If I am not an apostle<\/em> (\u1f00\u03c0\u03cc\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2) <em>to others, at least I am to you, for you are the confirming sign of my apostleship<\/em> (\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u1fc6\u03c2, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03ae\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u03bb\u03ae<\/a>) <em>in the Lord<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It seems possible and even likely that Peter\u2019s legislation was accepted as legitimate at the time.\u00a0 So I\u2019m left with a decision: Is Peter\u2019s legislation in Scripture because it is legitimate?\u00a0 Or is it there to show the folly of acting apart from the Holy Spirit? \u00a0I think it demonstrates the folly of acting apart from the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 Ms. Eldridge seemed to assume that if it was spoken by an apostle and in the book of Acts it is legitimate.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2015\/01\/08\/apostles-and-prophets-part-2\/#_ftn15\" name=\"_ftnref15\"><sup>[15]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>The following shows us the requirements of the replacement for Judas:<\/em><br \/>\n<em> <strong>Acts 1:21-26, &#8220;Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from John&#8217;s baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us.
