didn\u2019t utilize his own godliness, but trusted the Holy Spirit that descended\u00a0<\/em>like a dove from heaven, and<em>\u2026<\/em>remained on him<em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/11\/23\/the-righteousness-of-god\/#_ftn11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><sup>[11]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Otherwise, Jesus\u2019 invitation and command,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/01\/the-will-of-god-jesus-part-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Follow me<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/11\/23\/the-righteousness-of-god\/#_ftn12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0is little more than a cruel joke.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/02\/06\/romans-part-50\/#_axiomatic\">And<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>As I\u2019ve written\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/11\/23\/the-righteousness-of-god\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">before<\/a>\u00a0it is axiomatic to me that the way Jesus loved us was through that same love He received from the Holy Spirit that descended\u00a0<\/em>like a dove from heaven, and<em>\u2026<\/em>remained on him<em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/02\/06\/romans-part-50\/#_ftn43\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><sup>[43]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 He prayed as much to his Father if one has ears to hear:\u00a0<\/em>I made known your name to them, and I will continue to make it known, so that the love\u00a0<em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03b3\u03ac\u03c0\u03b7\">\u1f00\u03b3\u03ac\u03c0\u03b7<\/a>)\u00a0<\/em>you have loved\u00a0<em>(\u1f20\u03b3\u03ac\u03c0\u03b7\u03c3\u03b1\u03c2, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03b3\u03b1\u03c0\u03ac\u03c9\">\u1f00\u03b3\u03b1\u03c0\u03ac\u03c9<\/a>)\u00a0<\/em>me with may be in them, and I may be in them<em>.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/02\/06\/romans-part-50\/#_ftn44\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">[44]<\/a><\/sup><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/04\/09\/romans-part-86\/#_axiomatic\">And<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>As I\u2019ve written before,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/04\/09\/romans-part-86\/#_ftn20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><sup>[20]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0it is axiomatic to me that Jesus\u2019 holiness was from the Holy Spirit rather than his own divine nature.\u00a0 Otherwise, his command and invitation,\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/quicksearch\/?search=+jesus+said+follow+me&amp;searchtype=all&amp;version1=31&amp;spanbegin=1&amp;spanend=73\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Follow me<\/a><em>, would be meaningless to sinful human beings.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the movie <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Casper_(film)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Casper<\/a> there is a comic bit when Casper (voiced by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Malachi_Pearson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malachi Pearson<\/a>), a friendly ghost, gets excited to show Kat (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christina_Ricci\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christina Ricci<\/a>), a living girl, a secret laboratory.\u00a0 He takes her by the hand and leads her into a place she can\u2019t follow\u2014through a wall.\u00a0 <a id=\"_axiom\"><\/a>In the beginning that\u2019s almost all I meant by my \u201caxiom.\u201d\u00a0 Jesus wasn\u2019t commanding us to follow Him somewhere we couldn\u2019t go.\u00a0 In fact, before He began to make appearances through walls behind <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/John+20:26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">locked doors<\/a> He said plainly, <em>Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_miraculous\"><\/a>Over time though my \u201caxiom\u201d has come to mean so much more: When I am anything less than Christlike I no longer think: \u201cOh, He is God and I am not.\u201d\u00a0 Instead, I know that I am living <em>according to the flesh<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Romans+8:5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Romans 8:5-11<\/a>), that I\u2019ve <em><a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Galatians+5:4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fallen away from grace<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 One would think I would know better by now but apparently I do not.\u00a0 It alerts me that it is time to stop relying on myself and get back to trusting Jesus, relying on his Spirit.\u00a0 But that weight deserves something weightier than an axiom.\u00a0 Jesus said (John 14:10 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? \u00a0The words that I say to you, I do not speak on my own initiative, but the Father residing in me performs his miraculous deeds <em>(\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd\">\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>).<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Translating \u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1 <em>miraculous deeds<\/em> isn\u2019t wrong.\u00a0 <em>Now when John heard in prison about the<\/em> \u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1 <em>Christ had done<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a> Jesus described those <em>deeds <\/em>this way: <em>The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news proclaimed to them<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0This is a list of <em>miraculous deeds<\/em> including the act of proclaiming good news (\u03b5\u1f50\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u03b5\u03bb\u1f77\u03b6\u03bf\u03bd\u03c4\u03b1\u03b9, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b5\u1f50\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u03b5\u03bb\u03af\u03b6\u03c9\">\u03b5\u1f50\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u03b5\u03bb\u03af\u03b6\u03c9<\/a>) and the good news (<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b5\u1f50\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u03ad\u03bb\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd\">\u03b5\u1f50\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u03ad\u03bb\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>) which was proclaimed.\u00a0 None of it happens apart from the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 <em>For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he does, and will show him greater deeds <\/em>(\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1, a form of \u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd) <em>than these, so that you will be amazed. \u00a0For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whomever he wishes<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0<em>Now as Jesus was passing by, he saw a man who had been blind from birth <\/em>(John 9:1-7 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>His disciples asked him, \u201cRabbi, who committed the sin that caused him to be born blind, this man or his parents?\u201d\u00a0 Jesus answered, \u201cNeither this man nor his parents sinned, but he was born blind so that the acts <em>(\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1, a form of \u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd)<\/em> of God may be revealed through what happens to him.\u00a0 We must perform <em>(\u1f10\u03c1\u03b3\u1f71\u03b6\u03b5\u03c3\u03b8\u03b1\u03b9, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f10\u03c1\u03b3\u03ac\u03b6\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\">\u1f10\u03c1\u03b3\u03ac\u03b6\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>)<\/em> the deeds <em>(\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1, a form of \u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd)<\/em> of the one who sent me as long as it is daytime.\u00a0 Night is coming when no one can work <em>(\u1f10\u03c1\u03b3\u1f71\u03b6\u03b5\u03c3\u03b8\u03b1\u03b9, a form of \u1f10\u03c1\u03b3\u03ac\u03b6\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9)<\/em>.\u00a0 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.\u201d\u00a0 Having said this, he spat on the ground and made some mud with the saliva. He smeared the mud on the blind man\u2019s eyes and said to him, \u201cGo wash in the pool of Siloam\u201d (which is translated \u201csent\u201d).\u00a0 So the blind man went away and washed, and came back seeing.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But the adjective <em>miraculous <\/em>shouldn\u2019t blind us to the less showy \u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1 the Holy Spirit <em>residing <\/em>(\u03bc\u1f73\u03bd\u03c9\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03c9\">\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03c9<\/a>) in believers <em>performs <\/em>(\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03b5\u1fd6, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03ad\u03c9\">\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03ad\u03c9<\/a>) all the time:<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_boast\"><\/a>It was after eleven Sunday night.\u00a0 I had to get up early to catch a flight Monday morning.\u00a0 My neighbor was listening to some speed metal.\u00a0 The bass vibrated my bed.\u00a0 I had every right to be angry, didn\u2019t I?\u00a0 I, as a composer, had given up music because it kept me too connected to the sensuality of the world.\u00a0 (Never mind that I wasn\u2019t that good at performing or composing music.)\u00a0 As I lay there beginning to simmer a self-righteous snit, that still small voice reminded me that Monday was Memorial Day, a holiday for my neighbor. \u00a0All I really needed to do that day was get up, get to the airport and fly to my destination.\u00a0 After that I\u2019d be off, too.\u00a0 All the while the Holy Spirit\u2019s love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control washed away my self-righteous anger like <em>a fountain of water springing up to <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/John+4:13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eternal life<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 And to top it off, the very moment He won that <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Galatians+5:17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">skirmish<\/a> with the dead and dying flesh in my body the song ended, my neighbor turned off his stereo and went to bed, just so I didn\u2019t miss the point (Matthew 5:15, 16; John 3:20, 21 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.\u00a0 In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2014\/12\/22\/my-reasons-and-my-reason-part-6\/#_beautiful\">good<\/a> <em>(\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u1f70, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03cc\u03c2\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03cc\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em> deeds <em>(\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1, a form of \u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd)<\/em> and give honor to your Father in heaven.<\/p>\n<p>For everyone who does <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/03\/01\/son-of-god-john-part-4\/#_in\">evil deeds<\/a> <em>(\u03c6\u03b1\u1fe6\u03bb\u03b1, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c6\u03b1\u1fe6\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2\">\u03c6\u03b1\u1fe6\u03bb\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>)<\/em> hates the light and does not come to the light, so that their deeds <em>(\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1, a form of \u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd)<\/em> will not be exposed.\u00a0 But the one who practices the truth comes to the light, so that it may be plainly evident that his deeds <em>(\u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03b1, a form of \u1f14\u03c1\u03b3\u03bf\u03bd)<\/em> have been done in God.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When I <em>live according to the flesh<\/em> I become a <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Colossians+2:18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">puffed-up<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Romans+8:3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">weakling<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/John+8:44\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Satan\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Psalms+14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fool<\/a>.\u00a0 When Jesus was <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/11\/01\/the-will-of-god-jesus-part-3\/\">overcome<\/a> by the flesh of Adam He was still God: He cursed the fig tree and it withered and died (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Matthew+21:18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew 21:18-22<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Mark+11:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark 11:12-14<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Mark+11:20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">20-25<\/a>).\u00a0 I find it difficult to <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2013\/10\/27\/condemnation-or-judgment-part-2\/#_Edwards\">understand<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christianitytoday.com\/history\/people\/theologians\/jonathan-edwards.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Edwards\u2019<\/a> portrayal of God to his congregation in his famous sermon \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/digitalcommons.unl.edu\/cgi\/viewcontent.cgi?article=1053&amp;context=etas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God<\/a>\u201d in the light of Paul\u2019s letter to believers in Rome (Romans 8:31b-39 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If God is for us, who can be against us?\u00a0 Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all \u2013 how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?\u00a0 Who will bring any charge against God\u2019s elect?\u00a0 It is God who justifies.\u00a0 Who is the one who will condemn?\u00a0 Christ is the one who died (and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us.\u00a0 Who will separate us from the love of Christ?\u00a0 Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?\u00a0 As it is written, \u201cFor your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.\u201d\u00a0 No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us!\u00a0 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Still, I do see a time when sinners, Jerusalem, the whole world, perhaps even the created cosmos were in extreme danger of falling into the hands of an angry God.\u00a0 Jesus was no demigod: half-man, half-god, super-man, inferior god.\u00a0 He is fully man and fully God.\u00a0 As a human being I might wonder if it is worse to suffer abuse or watch as my son is abused.\u00a0 But God the Father did not partake (\u03bc\u03b5\u03c4\u1f73\u03c3\u03c7\u03b5\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u03bc\u03b5\u03c4\u03ad\u03c7\u03c9\">\u03bc\u03b5\u03c4\u03ad\u03c7\u03c9<\/a>) of the blood and flesh of humanity, the weak link in this chain.\u00a0 The arresting officers tied Jesus up (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/John+18:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 18:12<\/a>), tempting the flesh of Adam to resist.\u00a0 If I succumbed to the flesh and cursed officers arresting me I would just make them angrier with my foul noise.\u00a0 But Jesus is also God.\u00a0 If He had succumbed to the flesh of Adam and cursed the arresting officers they would have withered and died.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus was questioned first by Annas (a former high priest himself) the father-in-law of Caiaphas the high priest.\u00a0 When Jesus answered, <em>one of the high priest\u2019s officers who stood nearby struck him on the face<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/John+18:22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 18:22<\/a>).\u00a0 <em>Then Annas sent him, still tied up, to Caiaphas the high priest<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were trying to find false testimony against Jesus so that they could put him to death<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0\u00a0<em>The high priest said to him, \u201cI charge you under oath by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a><em>\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI am,\u201d said Jesus, \u201cand you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn8\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 So they accused Him of blasphemy and condemned Him to death (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Matthew+26:65\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew 26:65, 66<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Mark+14:64\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark 14:64<\/a>).\u00a0 They spat on Him (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Matthew+26:67\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew 26:67<\/a>), blindfolded him (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Mark+14:65\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark 14:65<\/a>) and played a guessing game, <em>saying, \u201cProphesy for us, you Christ!\u00a0 Who hit you?\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn9\"><sup>[9]<\/sup><\/a> \u00a0<em>Now the men who were holding Jesus under guard began to mock him and beat him<\/em>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn10\"><sup>[10]<\/sup><\/a> following their leaders, oblivious to the potential harm they risked to themselves or the entire created cosmos.<\/p>\n<p>After Jesus <em>instructed his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn11\"><sup>[11]<\/sup><\/a> he <em>began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>When it was early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to execute him<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 They <em>led Jesus away to their council and said, \u201cIf you Pilate<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn16\"><sup>[16]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>They did not go into the governor\u2019s residence so they would not be ceremonially defiled, but could eat the Passover meal<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn17\"><sup>[17]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 So Pilate came out to them but said, <em>\u201cTake him yourselves and pass judgment on him according to your own law!\u201d\u00a0 The Jewish leaders replied, \u201cWe cannot legally put anyone to death.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn18\"><sup>[18]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>They began to accuse him, saying, \u201cWe found this man subverting our nation <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Matthew+23\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew 23<\/a>)<em>, forbidding us to pay the tribute tax to Caesar<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Matthew+22:15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matthew 22:15-22<\/a>) <em>and claiming that he himself is Christ, a king.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn19\"><sup>[19]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Christ Jesus came into the world to href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/05\/10\/sowing-to-the-flesh-part-2\/\">belief<\/a> that the Christ would be a political\/military revolutionary who would overthrow Pilate and his Roman overlords,\u00a0<em>the chief priests with the elders and the experts in the law and the whole Sanhedrin<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn21\"><sup>[21]<\/sup><\/a> transmuted their (false) charge of blasphemy into a Roman capital crime.<\/p>\n<p>Privately, Jesus comforted Pilate: <em>My kingdom is not from this world.\u00a0 If my kingdom were from this world, my servants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish authorities<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn22\"><sup>[22]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Publicly, <em>when he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he did not respond<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_ftn23\"><sup>[23]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Pilate had found <em>no basis for an accusation against<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/Luke+23:4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luke 23:4<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/John+18:38\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 18:38b<\/a>) Jesus, but he did see a possible way out (John 18:39, 40 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBut it is your custom that I release one prisoner for you at the Passover.\u00a0 So do you want me to release for you the king of the Jews?\u201d\u00a0 Then they shouted back, \u201cNot this man, but Barabbas!\u201d\u00a0 (Now Barabbas was a revolutionary.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>John wrote of Jesus, <em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/bible\/John+1:14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">become<\/a> human flesh: <em>He came to what was his own, but his own people did not receive dressing him in elegant clothes, Herod sent him back to Pilate<\/em>.<a
