Make Holy, Part 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I began to study the Bible I thought Paul wrote Hebrews.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 The more I studied, the more I began to know Paul\u2019s other writings, the more I began to suspect that Paul did not write Hebrews.\u00a0 Someone who knew Paul and his writings must have written it.\u00a0 But I thought that Romans was the literary parent and Hebrews the literary child until <a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservapedia.com\/Andrew_Schlafly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew Schlafly\u2019s<\/a> entry on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservapedia.com\/Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Conservapedia<\/a>\u2014\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservapedia.com\/Mystery:Did_Jesus_Write_the_Epistle_to_the_Hebrews%3F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mystery: Did Jesus Write the Epistle to the Hebrews?<\/a>\u201d\u2014flipped me out of the rut I was in.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s probably more prudent to say that the Holy Spirit flipped me out of my rut with Mr. Schlafly\u2019s writing, but I want to be sure to share my gratitude with him since I reject his main point: \u201cJesus spent 40 days on Earth between the Resurrection and the Ascension, and it is implausible that He did not continue His ministry in an effective way.\u00a0 Writing (or distributing) an Epistle is most plausible activity, given what had transpired.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>After God spoke long ago in various portions and in various ways to our ancestors through the prophets<\/em>, the writer of Hebrews began, <em>in these last days he has spoken to us in a son<\/em>\u2026<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The words <em>to us<\/em> aren\u2019t an artifact of translating Greek to English.\u00a0 It is <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u1f21\u03bc\u1fd6\u03bd\">\u1f21\u03bc\u1fd6\u03bd<\/a> penned by the author.\u00a0 Did Jesus write that God spoke to Jesus <em>in a son<\/em>?\u00a0 <em>The Son<\/em> [who] <em>is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, and <\/em>[who] <em>sustains all things by his powerful word<\/em>?<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 The writer of Hebrews continued, <em>so when he had accomplished cleansing for sins,<\/em> <em>he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Did Jesus write that He was on earth writing Hebrews and sitting <em>at the right hand of the Majesty on high <\/em>simultaneously?\u00a0 Or did He mean that He was someone distinct from this mysterious Son? \u00a0\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/ccat.sas.upenn.edu\/nets\/edition\/24-ps-nets.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sit on my right<\/a>\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lxx\/psa\/110\/1\/t_bibles_588001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Septuagint<\/a> reads. \u00a0The author of Hebrews changed \u03ba\u1f71\u03b8\u03bf\u03c5 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-3\/#_\u03ba\u03ac\u03b8\u03b7\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\">\u03ba\u03ac\u03b8\u03b7\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>; second person present tense) to \u1f10\u03ba\u1f71\u03b8\u03b9\u03c3\u03b5\u03bd (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-3\/#_\u03ba\u03b1\u03b8\u03af\u03b6\u03c9\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03b8\u03af\u03b6\u03c9<\/a>; third person past tense).<\/p>\n<p>All in all it seems simpler to conclude that Jesus did not write Hebrews personally and that it was written after his ascension (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Acts+1:9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Acts 1:9-11<\/a>).\u00a0 But what has grabbed me and won\u2019t let go is Mr. Schlafly\u2019s insight: \u201cthis sermon appears identical to the sermon given by Jesus on the road to Emmaus&#8230;\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 I have carped at <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Luke+24:18\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cleopas<\/a> and the other disciple<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a> almost every time I\u2019ve read their story, \u201cDon\u2019t tell me how you <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Luke+24:32\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">felt<\/a>.\u00a0 Who cares how you felt!?\u00a0 Tell me what He said!\u201d\u00a0 I was utterly unable to hear Hebrews as Jesus\u2019 teaching on the Emmaus road because I was stuck thinking it was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotquestions.org\/Book-of-Hebrews.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">late<\/a> development dependent upon Paul\u2019s theology in Romans.<\/p>\n<p>This \u201cEpistle was written before any physical persecution of the disciples: \u2018In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.\u2019 (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews+12%3A4&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">12:4<\/a>) Stephen was martyred around A.D. 37, merely a few years after the Crucifixion of Jesus, so this Epistle was written before then.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn8\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Was Hebrews one of the <em>scrolls <\/em>or <em>parchments <\/em>Paul <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/2+Timothy+4:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">prized<\/a>?\u00a0 Was it the literary parent of Romans?<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_camp\"><\/a>I&#8217;ll approach the next occurrence of \u1f01\u03b3\u03b9\u1f71\u03c3\u1fc3 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u1f01\u03b3\u03b9\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9\">\u1f01\u03b3\u03b9\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9<\/a>) with this possibility in mind, not hearing the scratching of Jesus\u2019 pen perhaps, but listening for the teaching that was foremost in his mind during the forty days between his resurrection and ascension (Hebrews 13:9-16 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Do not be carried away by all sorts of strange teachings.\u00a0 For it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not ritual meals, which have never benefited those who participated in them. \u00a0We have an altar that those who serve in the tabernacle have no right to eat from. \u00a0For the bodies of those animals whose blood the high priest brings into the sanctuary as an offering for sin are burned outside the camp. \u00a0Therefore, to sanctify <em>(\u1f01\u03b3\u03b9\u1f71\u03c3\u1fc3, a form of \u1f01\u03b3\u03b9\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9)<\/em> the people by his own blood, Jesus also suffered outside the camp <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-3\/#_\u03c0\u03cd\u03bb\u03b7\">\u03c0\u1f7b\u03bb\u03b7\u03c2<\/a>; literally, <\/em>gate<em>)<\/em>. \u00a0We must go out to him, then, outside the camp, bearing the abuse he experienced. \u00a0For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Revelation+21:9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Revelation 21:9-27<\/a>)<\/em>. \u00a0Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, acknowledging his name. \u00a0And do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>To <em>sanctify the people by his own blood, Jesus also suffered outside the camp.\u00a0 We must go out to him, then, outside <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u1f14\u03be\u03c9\">\u1f14\u03be\u03c9<\/a>) <em>the camp <\/em>(\u03c0\u03b1\u03c1\u03b5\u03bc\u03b2\u03bf\u03bb\u1fc6\u03c2, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-3\/#_\u03c0\u03b1\u03c1\u03b5\u03bc\u03b2\u03bf\u03bb\u03ae\">\u03c0\u03b1\u03c1\u03b5\u03bc\u03b2\u03bf\u03bb\u03ae<\/a>)\u2026\u00a0 The anonymous author of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/studiesinleviticus.wordpress.com\/2012\/02\/03\/sacrifice-outside-the-camp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sacrifice Outside the Camp<\/a>\u201d concluded: \u201cSo just as Christ went outside the camp, the readers are also to go outside the camp and thus bear reproach by abandoning the established fellowship and ordinances of Judaism.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s what I thought, too.\u00a0 In fact, I thought that would be the point of this essay when I thought Hebrews was a late development from the mind of some unknown disciple.\u00a0 Considering Hebrews as Jesus\u2019 teaching during the forty days between his resurrection and ascension pushes me harder.<\/p>\n<p>I assume that going out to Jesus, <em>outside the camp<\/em>, is a result of being sanctified <em>by his own blood<\/em> as opposed to its cause, though the NET translation (<em>We must go out<\/em>) of \u1f10\u03be\u03b5\u03c1\u03c7\u1f7d\u03bc\u03b5\u03b8\u03b1 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u1f10\u03be\u03ad\u03c1\u03c7\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\">\u1f10\u03be\u03ad\u03c1\u03c7\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>; KJV: <em>Let us go forth<\/em>) sounds more like a prerequisite.\u00a0 Are we to go outside the Israelite camp only to join the Roman Catholic camp, the Greek Orthodox camp, the Lutheran camp, the Baptist camp, the Presbyterian camp, the Pentecostal camp or the name-your-favorite-religion camp?\u00a0 It got me thinking about <em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>He wasn\u2019t a big fan of law or religion, at least it wasn\u2019t his <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/10\/25\/fear-deuteronomy-part-10\/#_religion\">first choice<\/a>.\u00a0 Yet, when he got down to it He spent a good deal of verbiage establishing a legal\/religious category called <em>outside <\/em>(<em>ch\u00fbts<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_ch\u00fbts\">\u05de\u05d7\u05d5\u05e5<\/a>) <em>the camp<\/em> (<em>mach\u0103neh<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_mach\u0103neh\">\u05dc\u05de\u05d7\u05e0\u05d4<\/a>), \u1f14\u03be\u03c9 \u03c4\u1fc6\u03c2 \u03c0\u03b1\u03c1\u03b5\u03bc\u03b2\u03bf\u03bb\u1fc6\u03c2 in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lxx\/lev\/16\/27\/t_bibles_106027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Septuagint<\/a>.\u00a0 It caused me to wonder if going <em>outside the camp<\/em> (see <a href=\"#_outsidethecamp\">table<\/a> below) meant anything more than trading in one legal\/religious system for another.<\/p>\n<p>I thought\u00a0<em>outside <\/em>the camp was equivalent to\u00a0<em>not <\/em>the camp.\u00a0 But <em>outside the camp <\/em>was as much a part of the Israelite <em>camp <\/em>as the Holy of Holies.\u00a0 It moved with Israel in total (or in part with its army).\u00a0 It was a place of execution (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Leviticus+24:13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leviticus 24:14<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Leviticus+24:23\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">23<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Numbers+15:36\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Numbers 15:36<\/a>).\u00a0 <em>Or do you not know<\/em>, Paul wrote the Romans,<em> that as many as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? \u00a0Therefore we have been buried with him through baptism into death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may live a new life<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn9\"><sup>[9]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was a place for the unclean (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Leviticus+13:46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leviticus 13:46<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Leviticus+14:3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">14:3<\/a>), including <em>every leper, everyone who has a discharge <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Deuteronomy+23:10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deuteronomy 23:10<\/a>)<em>, and whoever becomes defiled by a corpse<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn10\"><sup>[10]<\/sup><\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Numbers+5:3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Numbers 5:3, 4<\/a>).\u00a0 <em>Those who are well don\u2019t need a physician<\/em>, Jesus answered the Pharisees, <em>but those who are sick do. \u00a0I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn11\"><sup>[11]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Latrines were there <em>outside the camp<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Deuteronomy+23:12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deuteronomy 23:12<\/a>).\u00a0 <em>If someone thinks he has good reasons to put confidence in human credentials<\/em> (\u03c3\u03b1\u03c1\u03ba\u1f77, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c3\u03ac\u03c1\u03be\">\u03c3\u03ac\u03c1\u03be<\/a>), <em>I have more<\/em>, Paul wrote believers in Philippi: <em>I was circumcised on the eighth day, from the people of Israel and the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews. \u00a0I lived according to the law as a Pharisee. \u00a0In my zeal for God I persecuted the church. \u00a0According to the righteousness stipulated in the law I was blameless. \u00a0But these assets I have come to regard as liabilities because of Christ. \u00a0More than that, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things \u2013 indeed, I regard them as dung! \u2013 that I may gain Christ, and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ\u2019s faithfulness \u2013 a righteousness from God that is in fact based on Christ\u2019s faithfulness. \u00a0My aim is to know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and to be like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bodies of <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Leviticus+10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nadab and Abihu<\/a> were carried off there (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Leviticus+10:4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leviticus 10:4, 5<\/a>). \u00a0<em>In him you also were circumcised<\/em>, Paul wrote the Colossians, <em>not, however, with a circumcision performed by human hands, but by the removal of the fleshly body, that is, through the circumcision done by Christ. \u00a0Having been buried with him in baptism, you also have been raised with him through your faith in the power of God who raised him from the dead. \u00a0And even though you were dead in your transgressions and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he nevertheless made you alive with him, having forgiven all your transgressions. \u00a0He has destroyed what was against us, a certificate of indebtedness expressed in decrees opposed to us. \u00a0He has taken it away by nailing it to the cross<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But it was not a lawless place (Leviticus 17:3-5 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Blood guilt will be accounted to any man from the house of Israel who slaughters an ox or a lamb or a goat inside the camp or outside the camp, but has not brought it to the entrance of the Meeting Tent to present it as an offering to the Lord before the tabernacle of the Lord. \u00a0He has shed blood, so that man will be cut off from the midst of his people. \u00a0This is so that the Israelites will bring their sacrifices that they are sacrificing in the open field to the Lord at the entrance of the Meeting Tent to the priest and sacrifice them there as peace offering sacrifices to the Lord.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Do we then nullify the law through faith? \u00a0Absolutely not! \u00a0Instead we uphold the law<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn14\"><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>For God achieved what the law could not do because it was weakened through the flesh. \u00a0By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, so that the righteous requirement of the law may be <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Matthew+5:17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fulfilled<\/a> in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn15\"><sup>[15]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. \u00a0For the commandments,<\/em> \u201c<strong><em>Do not commit adultery<\/em><\/strong><em>, <strong>do not murder<\/strong>, <strong>do not steal<\/strong>, <strong>do not covet<\/strong>,<\/em>\u201d <em>(and if there is any other commandment) are summed up in this,<\/em> \u201c<strong><em>Love your neighbor as yourself<\/em><\/strong>.\u201d \u00a0<em>Love does no wrong to a neighbor. \u00a0Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn16\"><sup>[16]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was a place of purification.\u00a0 The red heifer was slaughtered <em>outside the camp<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Numbers+19:3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Numbers 19:3<\/a>) and its ashes were kept there (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Numbers+19:9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Numbers 19:9<\/a>).\u00a0 <em>They must be kept for the community of the Israelites for use in the water of purification \u2013 it is a purification for sin<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn17\"><sup>[17]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 It was a way station for soldiers returning from battle (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Numbers+31:19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Numbers 31:19<\/a>), the spoils of war (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Numbers+31:11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Numbers 31:11-13<\/a>) and <em>Rahab, her father, mother, brothers, and all who belonged to her<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn18\"><sup>[18]<\/sup><\/a> (<a who belonged to her. \u00a0She lives in Israel<\/em> (NET note <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Joshua+6:25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">46<\/a> <em>Heb <\/em>\u201cin the midst of Israel\u201d) <em>to this very day because she hid the messengers Joshua sent to spy on Jericho<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn19\"><sup>[19]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>For the grace of God has appeared<\/em>, Paul wrote Titus, <em>bringing salvation to all people. \u00a0It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. \u00a0He gave himself for us to set us free from every kind of lawlessness and to purify for himself a people who are truly his, who are eager to do good<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn20\"><sup>[20]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was above all else the place where the NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Moses took the tent and pitched it outside the camp, at a good distance from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. \u00a0Anyone seeking the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting that was outside the camp.<\/p>\n<p>And when Moses went out to the tent, all the people would get up and stand at the entrance to their tents and watch Moses until he entered the tent. \u00a0And whenever Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the Lord would speak with Moses. \u00a0When all the people would see the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, all the people, each one at the entrance of his own tent, would rise and worship. \u00a0The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, the way a person speaks to a friend. \u00a0Then Moses would return to the camp, but his servant, Joshua son of Nun, a young man, did not leave the tent.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Just as the Father has loved me<\/em>, Jesus said, <em>I have also loved you; remain in my love. \u00a0If you obey my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father\u2019s commandments and remain in his love. \u00a0I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be complete. \u00a0My commandment is this \u2013 to love one another just as I have loved you. \u00a0No one has greater love than this \u2013 that one lays down his life for his friends. \u00a0You are my friends if you do what I command you. \u00a0I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not understand what his master is doing. \u00a0But I have called you friends, because I have revealed to you everything I heard from my Father. \u00a0You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. \u00a0This I command you \u2013 to love one another<\/em>.<a affiliation to go to Jesus <em>outside the camp<\/em> seems like a state of the believing heart and mind.\u00a0 <em>The Spirit is the one who gives life<\/em>, Jesus said, <em>human nature is of no help!\u00a0 The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/#_ftn23\"><sup>[23]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 To\u00a0go to Jesus <em>outside the camp<\/em> is integrally associated with sanctification, but doesn&#8217;t appear to be something one does once, rather continually, maybe even progressively until like Joshua one resides there permanently.\u00a0 Jesus said (John 14:23-26 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If anyone loves me, he will obey <em>(\u03c4\u03b7\u03c1\u1f75\u03c3\u03b5\u03b9, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c4\u03b7\u03c1\u03ad\u03c9\">\u03c4\u03b7\u03c1\u03ad\u03c9<\/a>)<\/em> my word, and my Father will love him,
