href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/07\/09\/to-make-holy-part-2\/\">consider<\/a> is found in Jesus\u2019 prayer to his Father: <em>Set them apart<\/em> (\u1f01\u03b3\u1f77\u03b1\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/agi.html#agiazw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f01\u03b3\u03b9\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9<\/a>) <em>in the truth; your word is truth<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 But I plan to crawl through his prayer on my knees because I believe I can <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/John+17:3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">know<\/a> his holiness here.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_people\"><\/a><em>I have revealed your name<\/em>, Jesus prayed, <em>to the men you gave me out of the world<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 Though the Greek word translated <em>men <\/em>is <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/anq.html#anqrwpos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">masculine<\/a>, I\u2019m not convinced that justifies (note <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/John+17:6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">15<\/a>) translating \u1f00\u03bd\u03b8\u03c1\u1f7d\u03c0\u03bf\u03b9\u03c2 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f04\u03bd\u03b8\u03c1\u03c9\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2\">\u1f04\u03bd\u03b8\u03c1\u03c9\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>) <em>men <\/em>in the 21<sup>st<\/sup> century.\u00a0 John didn\u2019t use \u1f04\u03c1\u03c3\u03b5\u03bd\u03b5\u03c2 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03b1\u03c1\u03c3\u03b7\u03bd\">\u1f04\u1fe4\u1fe5\u03b7\u03bd<\/a>) for instance, as Paul did when his <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Romans+1:27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">intent<\/a> was to distinguish <em>male <\/em>from <em>human<\/em>. \u00a0<em>But from the beginning of creation<\/em>, Jesus said, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/07\/31\/romans-part-4\/#sdfootnote12sym\">he<\/a> made them male <\/em><\/strong>(\u1f04\u03c1\u03c3\u03b5\u03bd, another form of \u1f04\u1fe4\u1fe5\u03b7\u03bd) <strong><em>and female<\/em><\/strong>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>And God made humankind <\/em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lxx\/gen\/1\/27\/t_bibles_1027\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u1f04\u03bd\u03b8\u03c1\u03c9\u03c0\u03bf\u03bd<\/a>, another form of \u1f04\u03bd\u03b8\u03c1\u03c9\u03c0\u03bf\u03c2); <em>according to divine image he made it; male<\/em> (\u1f04\u03c1\u03c3\u03b5\u03bd, another form of \u1f04\u1fe4\u1fe5\u03b7\u03bd) <em>and female he made them<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also the Greek word translated <em>I have revealed <\/em>was not a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03cd\u03c0\u03c4\u03c9\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03bf\u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03cd\u03c0\u03c4\u03c9<\/a> but \u1f18\u03c6\u03b1\u03bd\u1f73\u03c1\u03c9\u03c3\u03b1 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c6\u03b1\u03bd\u03b5\u03c1\u03cc\u03c9\">\u03c6\u03b1\u03bd\u03b5\u03c1\u03cc\u03c9<\/a>).\u00a0 So I think Jesus meant something more than calling God <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c0\u03b1\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\">\u03c0\u1f71\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1<\/a>, even something more than the mere fact that <em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_yeh\u00f4v\u00e2h\">y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<\/a> <\/em>has a <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/12\/30\/fear-deuteronomy-part-11\/#_father\">Father<\/a>. \u00a0Jesus <em>revealed <\/em>(\u1f10\u03c6\u03b1\u03bd\u1f73\u03c1\u03c9\u03c3\u03b5\u03bd, another form of \u03c6\u03b1\u03bd\u03b5\u03c1\u03cc\u03c9) <em>his glory<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn5\"><sup>[5]<\/sup><\/a> by turning water to wine (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/John+2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 2:1-11<\/a>).\u00a0 He <em>revealed <\/em>(\u1f10\u03c6\u03b1\u03bd\u1f73\u03c1\u03c9\u03c3\u03b5\u03bd, another form of \u03c6\u03b1\u03bd\u03b5\u03c1\u03cc\u03c9) <em>himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn6\"><sup>[6]<\/sup><\/a> <em>after he was raised from the dead<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn7\"><sup>[7]<\/sup><\/a> by telling them where to cast their net to catch fish and by having a charcoal fire ready to prepare their breakfast (<a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/John+21:1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John 21:1-14<\/a>).\u00a0 Jesus had <em>revealed <\/em>his Father\u2019s name by demonstrating who the Father is by his own relationship to Him (John 14:8-10 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Philip said, \u201cLord, show <em>(\u03b4\u03b5\u1fd6\u03be\u03bf\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-3\/#_\u03b4\u03b5\u03b9\u03ba\u03bd\u03cd\u03c9\">\u03b4\u03b5\u03b9\u03ba\u03bd\u03cd\u03c9<\/a>)<\/em> us the Father, and we will be content.\u201d \u00a0Jesus replied, \u201cHave I been with you for so long, and you have not known me, Philip? \u00a0The person who has seen me has seen the Father! \u00a0How can you say, \u2018Show us the Father\u2019? \u00a0Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? \u00a0The words that I say to you, I do not speak on my own initiative, but the Father residing in me performs his <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/06\/05\/who-am-i-part-6\/#_miraculous\">miraculous deeds<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em><a id=\"_grain\"><\/a>At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on a Sabbath.\u00a0 His disciples were hungry, and they began to pick heads of wheat<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn8\"><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/a> <em>as they made their way<\/em>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn9\"><sup>[9]<\/sup><\/a> <em>rubbed them in their hands, and ate them<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn10\"><sup>[10]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 We may misunderstand this story because we live in a different world.\u00a0 Most seed farmers sow today is dead, purchased from agribusinesses.\u00a0 It will not grow a crop that produces <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.illinois.edu\/hortihints\/0008c.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">viable seed<\/a>.\u00a0 We think it is wrong to walk through a farmer\u2019s field to eat without payment the crop he purchased and labored over.<\/p>\n<p>The grain Jesus\u2019 disciples ate was alive, fully able to grow another crop and produce another harvest.\u00a0 It was from God <em>who provides seed for the sower and bread for food<\/em>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn11\"><sup>[11]<\/sup><\/a> from God who said to Moses: <em>When you go into the ripe grain fields of your neighbor you may pluck off the kernels with your hand, but you must not use a sickle on your neighbor\u2019s ripe grain<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn12\"><sup>[12]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 <em>But when the Pharisees saw this they said to him, \u201cLook, your disciples are doing what is against the law to do on the Sabbath.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn13\"><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They weren\u2019t wrong (Exodus 16:4, 5; 20:8-11 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Then the Lord\u00a0<em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<em>, \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)\u00a0<\/em>said to Moses, \u201cI am going to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people will go out and gather the amount for each day, so that I may test them.\u00a0 Will they walk in my law or not?\u00a0 On the sixth day they will prepare what they bring in, and it will be twice as much as they gather every other day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Remember the Sabbath day to set it apart as holy. \u00a0For six days you may labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord <em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<em>, \u05dc\u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)\u00a0<\/em>your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your cattle, or the resident foreigner who is in your gates. \u00a0For in six days the Lord <em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<em>, \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)\u00a0<\/em>made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, and he rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord <em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<em>, \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)\u00a0<\/em>blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But Jesus defended his disciples\u2019 from the Pharisees accusation by citing hunger as a commonly known exception: <em>\u201cHave you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry \u2013 how he entered the house of God when Abiathar was high priest<\/em>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn14\"><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/a> <em>took and ate the sacred bread, which is not lawful for any to eat but the priests alone, and gave it to his companions?\u201d<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn15\"><sup>[15]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n<p>His next argument might have been a bit more opaque to the Pharisees: <em>Or have you not read in the law that the priests in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are not guilty <\/em>(\u1f00\u03bd\u03b1\u1f77\u03c4\u03b9\u03bf\u03b9, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-3\/#_\u1f00\u03bd\u03b1\u03af\u03c4\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2\">\u1f00\u03bd\u03b1\u03af\u03c4\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2<\/a>)<em>?<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn16\"><sup>[16]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 This becomes clearer with Peter\u2019s teaching, one of the men to whom Jesus revealed his Father\u2019s name (1 Peter 2:4-10 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So as you come to <em>[Jesus]<\/em>, a living stone rejected by men but chosen and priceless in God\u2019s sight, you yourselves, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood and to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. \u00a0For it says in scripture, \u201c<strong><em>Look<\/em><\/strong><em>, <strong>I lay in Zion a stone<\/strong>, <strong>a chosen and priceless cornerstone<\/strong>,<\/em> <strong><em>and whoever believes<\/em><\/strong> <em>(\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u1f7b\u03c9\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03cd\u03c9\">\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03cd\u03c9<\/a>)<\/em> <strong><em>in him<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>will never<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>be put to shame<\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em>\u201d \u00a0So you who believe <em>(\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u1f7b\u03bf\u03c5\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd, another form of \u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03b5\u03cd\u03c9)<\/em> see his value, but for those who do not believe <em>(\u1f00\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03bf\u1fe6\u03c3\u03b9\u03bd, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03ad\u03c9\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03b9\u03c3\u03c4\u03ad\u03c9<\/a>)<\/em>, <strong><em>the stone that the builders rejected has become the<\/em><\/strong><em> <strong>cornerstone<\/strong>,<\/em> and <strong><em>a stumbling-stone<\/em><\/strong><em> <strong>and a rock to trip over<\/strong>. <\/em>\u00a0They stumble because they disobey <em>(\u1f00\u03c0\u03b5\u03b9\u03b8\u03bf\u1fe6\u03bd\u03c4\u03b5\u03c2, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-concordance\/#_\u1f00\u03c0\u03b5\u03b9\u03b8\u03ad\u03c9\">\u1f00\u03c0\u03b5\u03b9\u03b8\u03ad\u03c9<\/a>; <\/em>disbelieve<em>)<\/em> the word, as they were destined to do. \u00a0But you are <em>a chosen race<\/em>, <em>a royal priesthood<\/em>, <em>a holy nation<\/em>, <em>a people of his own<\/em>, so that you may <em>proclaim (\u1f10\u03be\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u03b5\u1f77\u03bb\u03b7\u03c4\u03b5, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u1f10\u03be\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u03ad\u03bb\u03bb\u03c9\">\u1f10\u03be\u03b1\u03b3\u03b3\u03ad\u03bb\u03bb\u03c9<\/a>)<\/em> <em>the virtues<\/em> of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. \u00a0You once were <strong><em>not a people<\/em><\/strong>, but now you are God\u2019s people. \u00a0You were <strong><em>shown no mercy,<\/em><\/strong> but now you have received mercy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Isaiah prophesied <em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h\u2019s <\/em>description of <em>my chosen people<\/em> as <em>the people whom I formed for myself, so they might praise <\/em>(<em>t<sup>e<\/sup>hill\u00e2h<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_thill\u00e2h\">\u05ea\u05d4\u05dc\u05ea\u05d9<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lxx\/isa\/43\/21\/t_bibles_722021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Septuagint<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/greekdoc.github.io\/lexicon\/dih.html#dihgeomai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03b7\u03b3\u03b5\u1fd6\u03c3\u03b8\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>, a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-3\/#_\u03b4\u03b9\u03b7\u03b3\u03ad\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9\">\u03b4\u03b9\u03b7\u03b3\u03ad\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9<\/a>) <em>me<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn17\"><sup>[17]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0 How we praise and proclaim Him is important.\u00a0 Are we filled with his own \u1f00\u03c1\u03b5\u03c4\u1f70\u03c2 (a form of <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/greek-dictionary-2\/#_\u1f00\u03c1\u03ad\u03c4\u03b7\">\u1f00\u03c1\u03ad\u03c4\u03b7<\/a>; translated <em>virtues<\/em>), his love, his joy, his peace, his patience, his kindness, his goodness, his faithfulness, his gentleness and his self-control, or are we bitter and resentful as we grudgingly strive in our own strength to obey rules that others apparently ignore with impunity?\u00a0 Malachi prophesied (3:13-18 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou have criticized me sharply,\u201d says the Lord <em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<em>, \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)<\/em>, \u201cbut you ask, \u2018How have we criticized you?\u2019 \u00a0You have said, \u2018It is useless to serve God. \u00a0How have we been helped by keeping his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord <em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4vih<em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_yeh\u00f4vih\">\u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4<\/a>)<\/em> who rules over all? \u00a0So now we consider the arrogant to be happy; indeed, those who practice evil are successful. \u00a0In fact, those who challenge <em>(<\/em>b\u00e2chan<em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_b\u00e2chan\">\u05d1\u05d7\u05e0\u05d5<\/a>; Tanakh, <\/em>tempt<em>)<\/em> God escape!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then those who respected <em>(<\/em>y\u00e2r\u00ea\u02bc<em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_y\u00e2r\u00ea\u02bc\">\u05d9\u05e8\u05d0\u05d9<\/a>)<\/em> the Lord <em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<em>, \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)<\/em> spoke to one another, and the Lord <em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<em>, \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)<\/em> took notice. \u00a0A scroll was prepared before him in which were recorded the names of those who respected <em>(<\/em>y\u00e2r\u00ea\u02bc<em>, \u05dc\u05d9\u05e8\u05d0\u05d9)<\/em> the Lord <em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<em>, \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)<\/em> and honored his name. \u00a0\u201cThey will belong to me,\u201d says the Lord <em>(<\/em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<em>, \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4)<\/em> who rules over all, \u201cin the day when I prepare my own special property. \u00a0I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. \u00a0Then once more you will see that I make a distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between the one who serves God and the one who does not.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>I tell you that something greater than the temple is here<\/em>,<a of some anonymous disciple but, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/11\/02\/to-make-holy-part-3\/\">teaching<\/a> that was foremost in Jesus\u2019 mind between his resurrection and ascension (Hebrews 12:18-24 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>For you have not come to something that can be touched, to a burning fire and darkness and gloom and a whirlwind and the blast of a trumpet and a voice uttering words such that those who heard begged to hear no more. \u00a0For they could not bear what was commanded: \u201c<strong><em>If even an animal touches the mountain<\/em><\/strong><em>, <strong>it must be stoned<\/strong><\/em>.\u201d \u00a0In fact, the scene was so terrifying that Moses said, \u201c<strong><em>I shudder with <a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Deuteronomy+9:19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fear<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.\u201d \u00a0But you have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assembly and congregation of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous, who have been made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel\u2019s does.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>If you had known what this means:<\/em> \u2018<strong><em>I want mercy and not sacrifice<\/em><\/strong>,\u2019 <em>you would not have condemned the innocent <\/em>(\u1f00\u03bd\u03b1\u03b9\u03c4\u1f77\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2, another form of \u1f00\u03bd\u03b1\u03af\u03c4\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2),<a certainly meant Himself, but clearly not Himself exclusively.<\/p>\n<p>If I pay attention, He has given me a beautiful contrast between how the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/12\/30\/fear-deuteronomy-part-11\/#_disobedient\">disobedient and unbelieving<\/a> picture God and judge others according to their own image, and how the obedient and believing see Him.\u00a0 Actually everything Jesus said and did confronting the Pharisees and teachers of the law offers this contrast and reveals his description of her as a dog.\u00a0 Mark described her socially and genealogically as <em>Greek, of Syrophoenician origin<\/em>.\u00a0 Matthew described her lost soul as a <em>Canaanite <\/em>(1 Corinthians 10:19-22 NET).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Am I saying that idols or food sacrificed to them amount to anything? \u00a0No, I mean that what the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/07\/25\/romans-part-2\/#sdfootnote12sym\">pagans<\/a> <a fresh in my mind I get a better picture of what was going on: Jesus came to town and a demon worshiper complained to Him that her daughter was demon-possessed.\u00a0 It\u2019s a vivid picture of the <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2017\/10\/09\/fear-deuteronomy-part-9\/#_transmit\">iniquity<\/a> of the mother (in this case) being visited upon her daughter, whether we regard that <em>visitation <\/em>as punishment from God or the expected result of consorting with demons.\u00a0 Jesus fully intended to ignore the Canaanite woman because He <em>was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel<\/em>.\u00a0 It is how He understood his mission from his Father.\u00a0 It is what He taught his disciples (Matthew 10:5-8 NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them as follows: \u201cDo not go to Gentile <em>(\u1f10\u03b8\u03bd\u1ff6\u03bd, another form of she persisted. \u00a0More to the point she accepted Jesus\u2019 description of her as one of <em>the dogs<\/em>: <em>She answered, \u201cYes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table eat the children\u2019s crumbs.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 (The Pharisees by contrast wouldn\u2019t even accept Jesus\u2019 description of them as <em>actors<\/em>.<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn25\"><sup>[25]<\/sup><\/a>)\u00a0 And so Jesus, contrary to his own understanding of his mission from the Father and his own teaching to his own disciples, healed the woman\u2019s daughter because of this woman\u2019s one simple act of faith, believing his description of her as a dog.\u00a0 Perhaps that faith would lead to more faith in more things Jesus taught and turn this Canaanite woman and her daughter from their faith in demons.<\/p>\n<p>This all reminds me of <em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h\u2019s <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/kjv\/exodus\/32-14.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">repentance<\/a>: <em>And the LORD<\/em> (<em>y<sup>e<\/sup>h\u00f4v\u00e2h<\/em>, \u05d9\u05d4\u05d5\u05d4) <em>repented <\/em>(<em>n\u00e2cham<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/hebrew-dictionary\/#_n\u00e2cham\">\u05d5\u05d9\u05e0\u05d7\u05dd<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueletterbible.org\/lxx\/exo\/32\/14\/t_bibles_82014\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Septuagint<\/a>: \u1f31\u03bb\u1f71\u03c3\u03b8\u03b7, a form of <a of his own covenant, his own understanding or his own teaching, except by submitting his own will to that of his Father?\u00a0 Who is his Father?<\/p>\n<p><em>God is love<\/em>,<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2018\/01\/14\/to-make-holy-part-4\/#_ftn27\"><sup>[27]<\/sup><\/a> wrote another of the men to whom Jesus revealed his Father\u2019s name. \u00a0Not, Love is god.\u00a0 This isn\u2019t pagan worship of an idea or ideals achieved by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/net.bible.org\/#!bible\/Romans+9:16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">human desire or exertion<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 It is rather a shorthand for the name of the Father Jesus revealed to his disciples by his every word and deed.\u00a0 Paul\u2019s definition of love is the way He, in fact, loves and fills believers with Himself (1 Corinthians 13:1-8a NET):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have <em>God<\/em>, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. \u00a0And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have <em>God<\/em>, I am nothing. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/intelligent-torvalds.74-208-171-134.plesk.page\/2012\/07\/26\/romans-part-3\/#sdfootnote9sym\">If<\/a> I give away everything I own, and if I give over my body in
